SFX super fun and oddly satisfying! cute

Submitted

Nice sound effects, fit perfect with the seriousness of the jam :)
The controls are a bit odd and the jump/glide mechanic is a bit confused. idk, maybe a double jump could be better.

Good work

Developer

Thank you! Yup, the glide was...  a bit weird :D I already finished an update where the glide is a extra key and the double jump is a 'normal' double jump, game feel is nicer that way.. Thanks for playing!

Submitted

Really fun and creative concept! Sound effects gave the game a lot of personality i also really like the juniper sprites :D, and I liked the simple, addictive gameplay loop the hovering  mechanic was nice i wish it were more impactful tho maybe gliding slowed us down idk (the world is moving so fast constantly). But overall I had a good time. Nice work!

Developer

Thank you, i am glad you enjoyed it!!

Oh the glorious indie dev experience xD Amazing work! I especially love the sound fx lol!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much, i really appreciate it!

Funny concept. It's simple gameplay wise, but it's fun which is important. Good job and congratulations on your submission!

Developer

Thank you, your game was fun too!

Submitted

Love how meta it is haha. Easy to understand, but also quite fun to play. Nice job!

Personally, I suggest introducing things one by one, like only start with one kind of platform and then introduce others as the player progress. It’s quite hard to remember how everything works on the first few runs haha.

Overall, enjoyed playing this one, really nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, i am glad you liked it! Yeah, introducing the elements step by step would be a much better choice, i agree!

Just played your game as well, really cool! :)

Very neat and interesting game! Good game loop and was fun to play! Short and Sweet and i had a good time! Final Hi Score was 403, Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! 403 is pretty good, congrats!! :)

Submitted

Very meta... It was a little confusing with the different floor tiles and what they did, but it was a fun time!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yup, making the game mechanic more clear was and is a challenge for me! :D

Submitted

Funny premise, loved the concept of avoiding bugs xD

I would suggest trying to emphasize the effect of the platform tiles. At least I couldn't really tell the difference.

Good work!

Developer

Thank you! You are absolutely right, the UI on that is still too confusing. I should have started with 3 easy levels for example, introducing new platforms/items step by step, and then the endless mode...

You game is cute too, playing it right now ;-)

Submitted

Love the homebrew SFX and meta gameplay. Well done!

Developer

Thank you!! I liked your game a lot too! :)

Submitted

I loved the sound effects, simple and straightforward, fun game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback! I am glad you liked the sounds, it seems to split the playerbase pretty much in half :D

Submitted

Loved the music. Game has a fun addicting loop that you could absolutely sink your time into!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I am glad that you enjoyed it!

Haha, the concept is funny, I like the metalinguistics here. The homemade SFX are great and fit the aesthetic pretty well, and Song 1 is fire (also beepbox is awesome). It’s harder than it looks, though, took me some time to get used to it.

High score: 312 (T-T)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I am glad to hear that you liked it!

312 is not bad :D

You can try again after the jam, i might publish an update ;-)

Very cute, I like the homemade SFX and graphics, though I think they made it difficult to tell what was important (+2 for both stats vs +1/-1 to each) and also de-emphasized one of the more interesting mechanics which is the floor tiles having positive or negative effects. I would like to see the procgen create more interesting vertical tile formations rather than mostly being stuck on the floor with one mid-height tile, but overall a cool idea that needs some polish to really show off what it has to offer. Bonus points for having code scrolling in the background, always fun to see.

Developer

Thank you so much for your feedback!! You are right about the variety in spawn heights. Also, i agree 100%, it is not clear enough which item and platform does what. My biggest challenge (besides having ideas for good gameloops, making good art, good planning and coding of course :D) is onboarding. I love games that pretty much explain themselves step by step. (like yours does btw ;-)

I should have had 5 levels, with only the last one being the endless runner and the rest introducing items and platforms step by step.

Again thanks so much for playing and also for noticing the code background ;-)

Funny running game about game jam! It’s silly, but the self-recorded SFX made it even funnier, the fact that you included grass and water sounds too. Fairly accurate jam experience. And yes, MMORPGs and bugs are absolute nightmares that must be avoided. Anyway, nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, i really liked your game too!

I may not have survived the real game jam, but at least I survived this one! This game is actually strangely addicting. my only critique is the grey backround feels a bit boring, but it's a very small detail that doesnt matter to much. nice game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!! yeah, the grey background.. i tweaked that a lot, back and forth! I was really into the idea that the code of the game is the background, but black and white was too distracting, so i had to use some blur and make it darker so that my lighter sprites look ok.

Maybe i should have given up on the background code and replace it with a nice looking parallax... Now that i think of it, i could have platforms with code on them, and you have to decide on the fly which code is good and which code is bad :D ... We'll see.. ;-)

I checked out your game, looks amazing! I will play it later tonight!

Submitted

From the tutorial screen seemed a good amount of movement mechanics but when you start playing it everything comes together. The sfx are silly, loved that

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much - i liked your game too!

Submitted

It reminded me a lot of the Chrome T-Rex game, the sfx were quite funny, although unfortunately there are some references I may not have caught or understood. The gameplay was very entertaining and made me want to reach a high score (my max was 1200), it's a game I would play on my phone when I have free time or no data.

I can't give feedback since, for what it is, it's well executed.

Developer

That is really nice of you, thank you so much!! And: Congrats! I never made it to 1200! I will have to get that global leaderboard running after all :)

If you feel like it, you can just open the game page on your phone, mobile controls should pop up automatically. (in case they don't, you can activate them in the start menu) Unfortunately, there is still audio latency and a little error in the in-game UI.

Again, thank you for playing!!

Submitted

Thank you! if one day you make a mobile version please dm me, i will be really happy to play this game when i have free time:)

Submitted (1 edit)

I liked the game, its short and sweet, well maybe not if you'r grinding for the max score haha

The only complaint I have is the F to shoot, if you are using J with the other hand might as well use it to shoot, but very entertaining none the less

Also my first try for some reason it just started going super fast, I thought damn this is going to be hard, but then second try onwards was slower and felt relief lmao

Developer

Thank you!! You are right about the controls! Also, I did have a nice settings menu with custom controls on the to-do list of my GDD, but you know how  it is... :)

Submitted

Funny game, the MMORPG is so relatable haha!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! I am glad you enjoyed it!!
