Very interessting use of the theme. I like the Mechanic a lot!
The Movement is very interessting, but it would be even better, if the camera wouldn't lock while repelling an electron. This makes it quite hard sometimes.

Wow great concept! Was impossible with trackpad though glad I changed to a mouse for the second playthrough :D
Very Creative, makes you feel like your playing a "Edu-tainment Game", I like the goal orientation of matching up the atoms to create the "goal molecule" thats was my favorite part.
This was one of ideias i was thing, a game about electron spins, haha. But I dont have that much knowlegde of electrons to make it work. Glad to see that someone make it. I loved, very cool and unique. Nice work!
Such a unique and insanely confusing experience, but that confusion is what drives me to play honestly. There's nothing much I'd change about the core gameplay aspects, but there are some visual improvements I think you could make to really enhance the experience.
First of all, try to avoid applying a pixelation filter to the labels positioned in 3D space. It made them incredibly difficult to read at times. Additionally, the camera can be a little janky at times, and kind of freaks out when you tab out (I personally think this could be better as a windows / linux build rather than a web build once the jam is over, but it's understandable to focus on a web build for the jam).
Finally, find a font! Find some nice, legible, sci-fi font to use. Correct me if I'm wrong but you seem to have just used the default Godot font, which I think detracts from the vibe you were trying to convey here (though that's just personal opinion).
An overall superb submission to this jam and a game I could see having success going forward!
Thanks for giving the game a shot! Yeah i did end up sticking with the godot default font cause it actually felt the best visually for me compared go other fonts while searching :p Maybe there are many fonts that could work better but yeah during development i just ended up liking the look of the default font with the pixelation lol. But definitely the pixelation filter shouldve been handled better or at least had settings for visual fidelity.
this is the science game ive waited so long to play
its SO AWESOMETASTIC!!! just a little confusing at first, but AWESOMESAUCEOMETASTIC!!!!!
I feel like it is a great way to make people understand atoms more easily and i always loved games that have taken the time to try and teach you something so i find it incredible
I feel like the camera was my main problem when i was watching on top of me or on the bottom my camera was shaking and it was kinda hard to see what was going on, except this i feel the game is great and is really greatly put together i love to see sciences games
Great idea, great visuals, great audio, but incredibly hard to play
It took me a while to understand the attract and repel mechanics, i finally did and then they felt pretty natural, after finishing the tutorial i thought i was ready to play an endless run, where i got tasked with making a specific atom, i honestly had no idea how and i fumbled about until the time ran out. I really tried my best at understanding this game because like i said, it looks really cool, but i just couldn't figure out how to play it, i think it was a combination of clunky camera movement, and really hard unintuitive mechanics.
I would say this definetly has some potential tho, and could be reshaped into a different game with great success!
Glad you liked the presentation side of things! dont worry the game is definitely really hard to get into and only becomes intuitive after bit of play. Couldve totally allowed more freedom and polish on the camera, as for the bonds basically the gameplay loop is to just use the electrons to build atoms that you need then right click to select the ones in the bond, then if its a viable bond then theyll bond and give you points and heal :p thanks for playing though!
ah i get the gameplay, it's just making a specific atom that seemed like an insane task, maybe finding a way to show the player a "recipe" would be cool, it would make new players be able to at least play, and reward experienced players with more time since they don't have to check how to make each atom
Yeah i guess the atom building is still kinda not too obvious especially for people with absolutely zero chemistry knowledge :p the only thing in the game is the possible bonds list on the left of the screen that shows if your selected atoms can bond and with what, so i guess it kinda like rewards the player since as you play on youll start learning what atoms are at which number like 8 being oxygen. But anyways yeah guess thats the more "find out"y part of the game lol
Hey there, just played your game. I must say this is definitely an interesting concept and super cool way to learn physics. The art and music are just so good and on point with the theme of this game so great job on that, I really loved it. The main menu is super creative as well :D and the concept of the game is just amazing.
Here are some points of improvements:
- I think the main issue I personally faced where the controls were a bit finnicky, if I wanted to repel one of the electrons, I had to position myself so that I can see both the atom I am targeting + the electron I am repelling. I think free camera movement should be enabled when repelling just so its easier.
- Whenever I combined 2 atoms I lowk lost them, so it would be nice to somehow keep track of where your combined atoms go :D
Other than that, I thought it was a great game and just a super cool concept. I would love to see this polished up and being made into a full game :D, it would be a great way to learn physics and chemistry
Thanks for trying it out! indeed the camera is the current biggest flaw of the game, probably shoulda let the player have free rotation in repelling :> but anyways for the combining of 2 atoms, theyre meant to actually disappear, cause theyre finished, basically you bond them, get the points and healing, and continue on so yeah its intended to be that way. Anyways though still thanks for playing!
Really cool idea and super professionally executed! The art and audio are so charming. I did struggle with the camera and maneuvering behind the particles/throwing them as well as keeping track of which atom I was working on, though maybe that's just a skill issue haha. Not sure if it's a bug but sometimes I was able to move the camera while holding on to an electron (which actually made it a lot easier) though it seemed to also throw it less far / sometimes I traveled with the electron attached to me? It also seems like the electron travels in the direction I'm facing rather than where I clicked, so combined with my not-great positioning it caused them to get sent off to the wrong place and add reactivity :[
My high score after 4 attempts was 1130 (i think)
A casual mode of this with less reactivity gain & less atoms might be fun, I found myself just wanting to make one really really big :]
Ay nice job on actually getting some score at least! as for the electrons yeah they have two modes, if youre both the same color then youll repel them aka aim and launch them and if youre opposite colors then youll attract them and pull them along with you for a few seconds. Though for the camera movement itself yeah it is kinda jank dont worry bout that, its not a skill issue :3
I found the concept really neat, had to remember school chemistry for that one, but wasn't too hard to be fair! it was a bit motion-sickness-inducing for me though, it is kinda hard to navigate around with the mouse like that. still, on creativity & theme, it is 5/5 for me, wish i could play it for longer but it made me feel a bit dizzy 😵💫
such a smart concept!! a bit too brainy for me and the gameplay was a bit dizzy cos im not very used to 3d games, but it was rly interesting!
Great idea and I really liked the visuals, I found the gameplay a little tricky, I found it a bit difficult to remember what spin I used to fill different orbitals and which ones I'd filled, so some way to represent this visually would be great (unless I missed a way that's represented?) Also love including an educational element of physics / chemistry (although a lot of artistic license was taken in the accuracy of the science).
