Very cool game! Love the cute art style! Only wish I had a bit of a tutorial, but other than that, awesome game!

Submitted

really charming and cute game! very polished with lots of small details, the ui is smooth, even the blush level of characters changes, which is crazy. the beyblade scene would have been sick, but on the other hand, leaving it up to imagination also has its charm. well done!

i messed up my first email completely but made up for it with a near perfect second email B-). stella was so impressed that we are going to see a movie together on friday.
anyways, this was a fun exploration of the theme! the email games were so fun and looked amazing.

Developer

thank you for giving it a go!!! We appreciate your feedback and good luck on your date 😂. Thankfully she's really sweet but you wouldn't want to disappoint her!

THIS IS SO CUTE!!! love a good vn and a good office romance. i also really liked the mini games and the incorporation of the wheel. i was actually going to do something similar for the initiation of conversations in my game as well but didn't get time to do it so i'm glad i actually got to experience it!!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!!! I'm so glad you liked it!! We definitely worked really hard to have variety in the gameplay to keep it interesting. I absolutely hear you on the not being able to incorporate stuff into your game :"((. We had a few things we ran out of time to fix and incorporate. Thank you for playing!

This game is so cute!! The email mini game was really hard xD but I'm glad that I at least didn't get the worst ending. This character definitely has way more rizz than me, despite his really weird name lol

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, we wanted to make it fairly easy to get a good ending. So most people will get the regular (true) ending. It makes it easy to not get the bad, butttt also difficult to get the perfect. Glad you liked it and I feel you lol. If you got a peak at the email address, their name is technically "Chrysler" since we added a lot of car references. We thought it'd be funny to make it a chance between a normal and weird name

Stella  wanted to go out with me, so glad I don't have to go down the Wheeliam love story line.
Art is fantastic, dialogue was great (I am not much of a VN reader so I can't critique that), spinning to choose what happens was cool. I am not sure how much the typing words fit into the game, it seemed sort of out of place.

I enjoyed the game direction though, and liked seeing how the story unfolded.

Developer

Thank goodness Stella is so sweet. Glad you enjoyed it! We definitely weren't sure how many people would be interested in VNs but thank you for giving it a shot :). Thank you for the feedback as well. We were also a little iffy about the typing game in the beginning. When we first made it, I was personally unsure if it would fit the theme. However, since the protag's job and sound audio are typing related, we kept it in.

HR would not be happy to know about this game...

This is quite a fun visual novel especially for one made in a jam, I don't usually play these sort of games so I don't have much to say, but I liked the ost and overall art that you went with here

The characters are rather charming in the way they are written,

I didn't find the minigames to be as frustrating as people thought it as rather they were a bit too simple ? I liked the letter wheel though.

This could go places, or just be a standalone mini VN experience.

Developer

Ahh we don't need to let HR know about this one. Though I guess every good romance needs some drama. Thank you for trying the game and we're really glad you enjoyed it! Really appreciate the feedback :).

Welp, here we go.

Story
Cute and funny story, I though the characters where lively, and I like that you did the design of the characters white for the NPCs, it's clever and it also saves you on time. Cool stuff.

I didn't understand why Chris/Chrys had beef with the guy at the lunch room (don't remember his name). He seemed like a chill dude, though I suppose Chris/Chrys was just jealous lol.

Minigames
I don't understand why some were having trouble with the minigames. I think they were nice and pretty on point. They "come out of knowhere", but there's a sound for when they do, so I don't feel like you have to have insane reaction time for them. Flipping the wheel for the minigames was a cool addition, and it does fit with the theme as well.

The email minigames were cool too, I like that they speed up after time, it keeps it engaging. They're not too hard to get, and also not easy enough so that they're a breeze, so good job on that! (This is coming from someone whose reaction time is pretty mid)

The typing minigames were fine, a bit too easy perhaps? But I liked that they were there.

Visuals

I liked the artstyle that you used for the characters and also the background. Maybe the only complaint I would have is that we didn't get to see the bayblade battle, so it was kinda just there for me, but other than that, really good stuff! Only complaint here is that maybe the text box should be a bit bigger. I'm a bit blind so maybe that's why lol.

Also, I was a bit confused why his text was white italic when I thought it should've been gray, but then I realized that it was because it was inner dialogue (? Maybe there could be something to improve there, maybe make it more obvious or leave like that, I dunno XD [couldn't include a screenshot because itch io hates me but yeah]

Audio

Nice background music! It was on point and it kinda reminded me of Doki Doki Literature Club I believe the wheels also had sound effect which is cool, and I liked the sound effect for the text appearing!

Overall Thoughts

I'm really happy to see another visual novel here in the jam! I thought it was really nice, cute, funny with a small amount of NPC interactions, but it made it lively! The sub-plot of the company is a cool way to also include the theme, and yeah. Definitely a great game, and fun to read through :D

Developer(+1)

thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it and we really appreciate your comment. If I had known earlier we'd be doing the beyblade seen I would've loved to draw it out 😂😂 that's a good point though. I'll start working on making an intense beyblade battle for after the jam. I was definitely concerned about the amount of different text types, might revisit that. Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback!

Genuinely charming with sharp writing and great art style. Lovely job, really enjoyed it.

This was a really cute and wholesome game! I got the perfect ending! (I actually didn't even realize one of the spinners on an email I sent was correct until afterwards; it had landed right between two options so I assumed I got it wrong.) I appreciate the silly writing and art. The only suggestion I'd really have is that the manager's spinning-toys game could have benefited from its own background since it just shows the empty office for that whole sequence. I really enjoyed this!

Lovely art and music. I came in ready for a cute game, mostly visual novel type. But then the first spin of the wheel came and I got confused about how to use it. After a couple of tries (click anywhere to advance, click on the wheel, click and drag the arrow, and even trying to click and drag quickly to ‘launch it’), I exited the game to try and find instructions. They told me to launch the arrow. That made me a bit intimidated because I don’t love the idea of me having to do an action that requires dexterity and speed, and also because I had already tried that and apparently didn’t do it well enough to trigger the spin. I wasn’t expecting it and, to be truthful, it is not the easiest thing to do (use gestures) when you’re playing with a mouse or in my case a touchpad. It would be definitely different if I were using my drawing tablet or a touchscreen, but like this it’s not the best. So I think there could be control alternatives.

I also found it straining and higher effort to read the narration text, that is grey on black, so quite low contrast. So I’d also suggest a tweak on this.

In the email game, I took me a while to understand what I was meant to do. In fact, my whole first email, I simply clicked anytime, not worried about what slice to pick. I didn’t notice it had a gradient of colors from red to green and that it mattered and there was a correct one. In fact, because the ‘email writing’ was so quick and there was no time at all to read anything between the typing and the ‘choosing a slice on the wheel’, I couldn’t even guess or pick something from context, even if I wanted to pick the wrong on for my amusement, because I had no access to the context of the phrase.

It was only in the second email that I started seeing words that made sense and related to the meeting with Stella - and that was when I realized the wheel’s slices had different colors and the one that made the most sense by context (from the previous meeting) that I noticed it was green.

Thoughts while playing the game: Oh noooo not falling in love with your team lead! She is cute!

Oh no!!!! You’re not asking her out!!!

End notes: Cool that it has several endings. Unfortunate that there’s not much sound design throughout the game. The section between the lunch break and the end made me zone out and I skipped most of it. I didn’t understand what the nosy lady had to do with the story, or that event I skipped. Cute, but it could be more concise or more narratively connected/interactive, and improve on the UI things I’d mentioned before!

Thank you for trying our game! Hear you loud and clear on the confusing mini-games, not implementing a in-game tutorial was a major frustration on our end that our next game jam entry will prioritize. We would love to improve on the UI, interactions, and properly introduce a tutorial after the jam if we return back to this project. Regarding the arrow and spinning it yourself, I can see how it'd be a lot more difficult on a track pad. We didn't find time to do QA checks on various devices, which is another weak point I want to be prepared for next jam we participate in. Thank you for the feedback!

I'm not much of a visual novel player, but it was interesting to spin to choose so many things. I was so frustrated that I accidentally clicked through two of the word challenges though - I wish it didn't recognize space or clicks accidentally so I could have attempted it before I clicked too fast (I'm a fast reader, so I didn't need to wait all that long in between text, and there was a lot of text in between the gameplay elements, so I just got into a rhythm).

If you continue to tinker with it, it would be nice if you could have a keyboard check for any letter keys when it came to the spelling challenges, or at least have the space/mouse not submit it (enter was a natural way to submit those, so it would be nice if that's the only key that worked besides the usual letter keys and backspace for those challenges). Also, I never really got a good feel for spinning the answers with space - it just moved a tiny bit before stopping. Eventually I figured out I was spinning and stopping, but so many games either have that manual mouse spin (as a lot of these did) or it spins for you for a random amount of time, so I wasn't ready to control both parts of the spin at first.

Cute take on things though - definitely wasn't expecting a love story in a spinning competition - nice work!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!!! Definitely had no clue you could spin the wheel with space bar. So that's really good to know. I absolutely agree with needing some kind of warning so you don't mistakingly fail the typing game. We definitely plan to do a lot of polishing after the game jam ends. I hope you still enjoyed it and we really appreciate the constructive criticism!

I don't read VNs a lot and was a bit reluctant at first before trying it. Turns out it was actually fun, and you incorporated the theme in a simple and natural way: usually VNs' outcomes depend more on the player's choices so they're just a "click the option you never clicked before" simulator. Here the wheel and the mini games kinda stop that (though some of those really have no cue at all which is fine).
Never realised that I do like my stories with a bit of RNG, great job on this.

Developer

thank you for giving it a try! I'm really glad you enjoyed it anyway. I also agree that we should add some sort of cue for the minigames, especially the typing games. We definitely plan to polish the game up after the jam ends. Thank you for your feedback!

What a charming little game!  Great fun all around.  Cute little story.  The art for Stella was impressive, and I got a real kick out of the art style being so different for the other characters.

I also think you did a good job balancing reading versus interaction.  The little mini-games were nice; not too difficult, and great to break up sections of reading.  Also interesting to have a little bit of RNG in the game with the spinners you just flip, instead of just presenting a choice like most VNs would; little differences like that made this stand out.

I wasn't expecting a VN for this jam, but I'm glad you went in that direction.  I really enjoyed this one.  Great work!

Developer

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it. We definitely figured there weren't going to be many VNs in this jam but we were really excited to make one for our first game. Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Loved it. After struggling in other jam games, this was a chill break xo

Gotta say, really hard to say who are the main characters, since EVERYONE is so detailed <.<

Did enjoy it tho. Felt like a very tiny version of bulders gate, with how the wheel works. I like the idea. And I got a date :)

Developer(+1)

Hey, it is hard to tell! I wrote the dang game and I thought Stella was the main character . . . all of my friends played and turns out Ryder & Ford are the true main characters LOL. Thanks for playing, I'm right there with you about struggling in some of these other games. Tons of great submissions in this jam, but some really highlight how bad I am at games!

Submitted(+1)

Really wholesome game! I love the aesthetic and the vibes overal. I love how only Stells is fully detailed and the rest of the characters are all just uncolored lol. I'm not usually a visual novel gamer but this was really fun! The writing was really good and I love how there's multiple endings as well! The skill check on the spins is very fair but losing 1 skill check in a whole game and having to restart to get the best ending can be a bit frustrating sometimes (but its completely understandable). Overall, fun and wholesome game! Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Unfortunately we had plans on the Saturday reserved for bug fixing, so there was no additional time for us to fix up our options menu. Most Visual Novels have a save/load feature or a rollback feature, something to let you cheat your path. For our game, the initial idea was that after beating it once you would be able to turn on "cheats" and instead of having to play the mini-games, you could just choose X route. This would let you quickly explore all the different story paths + endings. Unfortunately, time wasn't in our favor and we had to submit as is. Also yes, the uncolored characters vs. Stella, a not-so-subtle clue about how our protagonist has his eyes on.

Submitted(+1)

I'm glad that you already thought of it which is great! Comepletely understandable for not being able to implement it on time during a game jam! Its highly common and thats okay, your game was great anyway and you guys should be proud!

Submitted(+1)

This game was so cute! The writing was great and very interesting, and I had a lot of fun reading it! It's really a cute and very serious visual novel, and I will probably keep playing it later to try and get to the other endings!

Developer

thank you so much! I'm glad you like it and I do hope you try to get the other two endings if you have the time. The bad ending really makes me laugh and the perfect ending is worth it. Though once the jam is over I plan to change the perfect ending to actually have a kiss. It's a little difficult since you have to get perfect emails. Unfortunately we didn't get our cheat system working before submission 😭.

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Very cute, loved the art!

Can't say I have played this sort of game before, but I'm sure it is a prime example of the genre. Only slight issue I had was I failed the first "type" of minigame each time due to not knowing what it was expecting me to do. Which I suppose taught me how to do it for the next times it came up, but locks you out of the perfect ending on your first run. Maybe that is intended and normal for this type of game? I have no idea, but apart from the areas that I assume you just ran out of time for (the poor uncoloured souls) it's really the only thing I picked up on as being off.

Wheel done! All ROUND great effort.

Developer

thankfully the only thing that determines the endings are the email games. You get the regular/true ending as long as you get at least one of the options right on either email minigame. The other minigames only really determine the dialogue that follows. We really wanted to get a cheat system and save system working but it all broke before we submitted :/. As for the side characters, it was definitely a risky maneuver but we felt it'd be really silly to keep them funny looking. Especially to emphasize Stella as the MC's main focus. I do agree that if we fully flesh this out after the jam that it'd be nice to clean them up. Maybe have a toggle for silly and serious mode. I'd also like to implement an in game tutorial. Thank you for trying our game! We appreciate the feedback and glad you liked it!

Submitted(+1)

A lot of lovely stuff going here! I really enjoyed the minigames they were great! I'd love to see more of the typing game if ever possible. Stella is very sweet and I love how the title comes to play in the perfect ending! I like to think that the reason why everyone is not as polished as Stella is because the protagonist is so solely focused on her that he renders everyone else less.

Developer(+1)

thank you! I'm so glad you liked it. You're also spot on about the side characters. I purposefully kept them silly since the MC only really cares for Stella.

Submitted(+1)

HR will be hearing about this…

Developer

Nooo!!! They're so in love! We can't let HR ruin it!
