I love seeing pico-8 entries for big jams like this :)

A nice simple chill experience with some great visuals. I particularly love the choice of the pico-8 pink for the sky! In case you're looking for bug fixes for a post-jam build or anything: I did encounter a gamebreaking error once when I pressed z just before the game cut to the "spin the reel" screen. I tried replicating it a couple times though and couldn't, so it may have just been a fuke occurrence.

Great job with the music on this one too, nice and appropriate for the chill vibe of this game :)

Love the pixel art and color pallete! And the fish types r super cute. The fishidex is super cool too. Overall, super relaxing game!

Quite relaxing game.
I enjoyed having a fishdex, to look for what I'm missing. Makes it fun. I would actually load that screen after fishing, to show the player where that fish falls in the index. Perhaps some text blinking on the affected entry.

The music was too high-pitch to my taste. After a while, it gets tiring.
The spinning part could improve if you slow it down so the player can read the text. Instead of stopping at once, so a small slowing down, like a roulette. That would make it attracting to the eye.

A fishing game! I liked the fish variants, but the best fish still had it's toupee on ... Would have loved if you can include later an addition mechanic like a moving needle on slider sort of thing. But great work still on you and your team's first entry!

I like the idea, Nice Game !

It's a super simple idea, but I think you executed it well! A little more gameplay variation could make it more engaging, but as a cozy/idle game it works well. I like the art and audio as well.

It's an interesting concept, but I wish there was a little bit more complexity to it. It can work as a cozy game to relax though.

Nice small game. Would be cool to catch all of the fish. UI is super cool. It's like playing an old console game.

Love the art/vibes of your game!! Such a great use of PICO-8's color palette!

I caught 4 fishes, and the 5th thing I caught was the runtime error line 242 tab 0 xD

But leaving aside this, I enjoyed the simple pixel art style. You did a great choice of color palette. Also, music felt very cozy with the gameplay. Good work!

thanks for playing my game! I have since found the issue and fixed it, however unfortunately I won't be able to upload that version until after the jam ends. I'm glad despite the error you still enjoyed your time with my game.

My fellow roulette game making genius, I love this idea, so great you used PICO8 as well, I did end up using the basic palette myself, its sooo pretty.  I love your visuals, absolutely gorgeous. Would love a button to stop the spin and add an element of skill (or just pure luck). Was very chill to play, cheers! 😁

I'm glad you like it! I do love the Pico-8 colors, they all work really well together. I'll be sure to check out your game too

Fun little game! The art and music work together very well. How was using PICO-8? I haven't tried it. I also like the fish combinations. Just seeing the names amused me. Lugubrious Charles is awesome.

Pico 8 is really fun! I've dabbled a little bit most of the other engines but I always get sidetracked and overwhelmed and never finish anything. I think Pico 8 is a really great remedy to that as it really restricts the options that are available to you, and focuses heavy on the programming aspect of game development. I'll probably do a couple more projects in Pico, and then I want to try Godot again. Pico 8 is also just a really fun tool to mess around in though, I highly recommend it.
