Great choice on the music. Only left as the mechanic, that's cruel you know how much muscle memory I had to fight? Great idea.
Yeah, fighting everyone's muscle memory was kind of the goal, to be honest. It's a lot harder to forget something when it actually makes you stop and think. I'm really glad the mechanic ended up being more fun than frustrating in the end. Thanks for taking the time to play and leave a comment!
it was fun at first but then my hype started to fade. im really sad there's not more into the game. but coo
Thank you for playing! I completely understand that feedback. I definitely wanted to add a lot more to the game, but since this was my first attempt at game development, I spent most of my time learning everything. I hope the lack of variety and features didn't hurt the experience too much. Again, thanks for taking the time to play and leave feedback.... it really means a lot!
Only left turn, that is creative, the only way to turn right is to spin. Great game
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed the concept.
I really liked the game mechanic. Really nice to play. 10/10
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I tried my best to make it as good as I could with the skills I had, and I'm really happy people had fun with what is there. Thanks for taking the time to play and leave a comment!
I appreciated the humor and creativity in this one. I would remove interruptions with news headlines, they break the flow and would be better placed in between the levels. I think this could be more fun with other cars chasing you (bots or even a multiplayer game).
I would have loved to add more events, like cars chasing you or other things happening during the levels, but honestly I had no clue how to make something like that yet or even where to start. If I continue working on SPIN OUT after the jam, learning how to add things like AI cars is definitely something I want to look into. Thanks again for playing and leaving feedback!
This game is amazing! It's also the only game in which I'm able to drift with little to no effort haha. I like the story too, a very serious matter. Thank god for our governments keeping us safe. I would like some more events while driving, like actually make the player avoid the obstacles, and maybe slippery roads etc.
That's was a great take on spinning! Funny that it was surprisingly hard for my brain to turn left than turn right. The mechanics were fun and great! But i would have loved to have some player feed back via audio more; like rubber burns while drifting; a strong blast during the boost, crashes, etc. The back ground music didn't quite hit the note for me. Overall, an enjoyable game still :)
Very well polished! I also noticed some similarities to our game haha. Totally loved it!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I hope you didn't have too much fun though...
this is a very serious game after all. -_- Thanks for taking the time to play!
loved the humor, drifting and boosting and this magnificent choir of angelic voices to top it of *- * Only the visuals could get some more love, aswell as sound effects when drifting and colliding, would love more juice there if you take some more time to polish this fun experience even more :)
I completely agree with the feedback. The visuals and sound effects definitely need more work. Those were 100% the things I struggled with the most. If I continue working on the game after the jam, adding more polish and juice is one of my biggest priorities.
Thanks for taking the time to play and leave a comment!
That was so fun! Collision on the collectibles could be a little more forgiving, but the drive/drift/boost controlled really well. Strong work
I haven't heard this feedback yet, but honestly it makes a lot of sense. I'll definitely look into making the collectibles easier to pick up, because I can imagine it's pretty difficult to collect something that small when you're already focused on controlling the car.
Thank you for taking the time to play and leave such thoughtful feedback..... I really appreciate it!
Cool game, it was really satisfying to drive, although a bit hard to hit objects. The music was awesome! Could use some polishing in the art.
I'm glad you enjoyed the driving! I also understand the feedback about the visuals.... it definitely seems to be something a lot of people agree on. Since this was my first attempt at game development/digital art, I was honestly a little scared to spend too much time on the art and end up with an unfinished game. I figured it would be better to have a finished game with simpler art than a beautiful game that wasn't finished or enjoyable to play. If I continue working on it after the jam, improving the art is definitely one of the first things I want to focus on.
Thanks again for taking the time to play and leave your feedback!
Really fun idea! I enjoyed the moment to moment driving and messing with the boosts and drifts. I kind of wish this were a racing game or had shorter courses though, I sort of lost track of the goal after driving around for a while and things started to feel samey. Really fun core gameplay in there though if you build a bit different of a game around it. Nice job!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the mechanics. I also completely understand the feedback about the levels. I wanted to add a lot more variety, unique events, and things to interact with, but I really underestimated how long learning to code, creating sprites, and building everything would take for my first game. If I continue working on it after the jam, making the levels shorter and more varied is definitely one of the first things I'll improve.
I actually had the same thought while making it and wondered if I should turn it into more of a racing game instead. In the end though, I liked the story I had built in my head too much, and I knew that with how long everything else was taking, I couldn't just flip-flop and change the entire direction of the game.
Thanks again for taking the time to play and leave such thoughtful feedback... it really means a lot!
my car is spinning
SPIN OUT is living up to its name.
Thanks for playing!Very cool concept!
Reminds me of a game I made where you have to forfeit controls lol
That game genuinely sounds so good! Thanks for playing and for taking the time to leave a comment.
First of all, great game name! (Mine is also called SpinOut" haha). Second, I was a bit worried about the idea of only being able to turn one way at first, but I think it worked surprisingly well! It would have been nice with more things to destroy and "explosions" or effects when crashing into objects, because towards the end it got a little repetetive just driving, but it was worth it in the end to CTRL-Z the law haha, great ending!
Thank you so much for playing! I'm really glad the one-direction driving ended up being more fun than you expected. I also completely agree with your feedback. I wanted to add a lot more things to destroy, better crash effects, and make each level feel more unique, but I really underestimated how long making and putting everything together would take as this is my first game.
I'm really glad you enjoyed the ending though. Thanks again for taking the time to play and leave such thoughtful feedback... it really means a lot.
This is my first Jam as well and I was experiencing the same thing haha, wanting to add more than I had time to. It's still a huge win that you got a playable game from start to end! Good luck if you decide to add more things in the future and in future jams!
I liked the intro, really creative idea! I got more focused on the story than breaking obstacles, but it was a fun game. I think maybe stop points doing the run would be nice, like maybe a random npc so that it doesn't feel as repetitive, but yeah!
Thank you so much. I'm really glad you enjoyed the intro and the story... that was one of my favorite parts to make. I definitely agree that adding things like NPCs or other events throughout the levels would've made it feel less repetitive. Thanks again for taking the time to play!
Absolutely majestic soundtrack blessing my ears. I like how serious the situation is, although I wonder if it may be a little bit too political? I don't know, but I got the gear.
I can definitely see how it could come across that way, but it actually wasn't meant to be political at all. The idea was just to create an absurd world where everything "right" had been outlawed. It wasn't intended to make any real-world statement. It was always meant to be a silly, over-the-top story.
Thanks again for playing, and congrats on getting the gear!
pretty fun to get perfect drifts around corners, i also enjoyed the comedic lore aspect
Thank you so much. I'm really glad you liked the drifting and the story. The story was definitely my favorite part to make, and if I'd had more time, I would have loved to expand on it and build the world even more. Thanks again for taking the time to play and leave a comment!
Good job on this drifting mechanic!
Feels really cool to slide along the road with ur car^^
But it also was really hard for me to remember that the left got forbiden :D
Some sound would have been nice for the experience but overall good work :)
Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed the drifting. Forgetting that turning right was illegal seemed to happen to a lot of people at first.
As for a sound, I honestly didn't think about adding a reminder sound because I was really the only person playing the game while developing it. I didn't have anyone to playtest it, and I'd already gotten so used to the mechanic that it never crossed my mind. That's actually really helpful feedback. Thanks again for taking the time to play and leave a comment... it means a lot!
For playtest i really just can recommend to join the juniper discord server (well. For the next jam then) :D
They had a playtest channel ad mid time of the jam. That was super helpful for me and u could get so many playtesters and very helpful feedback.
yeah i had seen that but i saw everyone's games and got too nervous to send mine lol
I love the concept, I didn't think I'd find another driving game where you can only turn one direction so this was a really fun find. The levels all felt a bit samey to me though
I wasn't expecting to see another one either lol. I also appreciate the feedback about the levels. If I continue working on the game after the jam, making each area feel more unique is one of the first things I'd like to improve. Thanks again for taking the time to play!
