I somehow spent half an hour playing this game and it took 2026 applications, that tells you it was good, also was the 2026 an intentional easter egg or I just got luck (or unlucky)

I mean it is very serious. Maybe too serious though. It started off quite boring but became extremely entertaining by the end! Nice game!!

A truly innovative idea, it's very hard to find a job these days (my suggestion: get a referral XD).

This was so funny!! I liked it very much!! Great job!!

Very serious. Funny idea, great on-purpose-amateur-looking assets, very nice background music and sfx. The gameplay loop however... I'm not a fan of idle/clicker games overall, but this one (gameplay-wise, I like pretty much everything apart from the main way of progressing) seemed a bit boring for me with how long all the animations take. Still very unique and super funny. Congrats!

Humanity biggest fear: A JOB

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

application submitted: 2769, total time: 25:00, sadly in real life it consumes one so much to even make one application if the job requires long interview or even quiz test, if i am really to put that effort into making that amount of applications well... i don't know. just keep it together guys, do everything you think might need, just don't do nothing. ( think it's also what the game's trying to say isn't it?

It's a very good game, although personally it was difficult to play due to my fear of having a job. I found it very entertaining. Including more than one experience minigame was a great decision, since it helps the core mechanic of simply opening cards a lot, preventing it from becoming repetitive too quickly. I found the names of the upgrades and their descriptions pretty funny, the sfx seemed good to me, and the art fits very well with this type of game.

As for some feedback, there is a quite noticeable lack of synchronization between job applications and experience, experience doesn't carry as much relevance as how many applications you have in total, since you always have a lot of experience and few applications. I would strongly recommend lowering how many applications are needed for the upgrades and lowering the amount of experience received.

Nifty, great little twist on the clicker genre by tying two currencies to the click. I played this on mobile and think some of the minigames might be taking double inputs from screen presses  (unless you're supposed to always move two spaces in the grid game).

I thought the incremental bit was quite well balanced, perfect for a gam jam entry, and I liked how the two currencies alternated between which was harder to get/more important as you chose different upgrades.

The game also just has cool, chill vibes, I wish applying for jobs could actually be like this.

EDIT: forgot to mention that the ragebait moment was great!

This is my nightmare — applying to endless job ads, and getting random outcomes. Strangely addicting though! I think with some more work you could release this on steam, like searching jobs boards and steps like video/phone interview etc.

me when i just wanna job D: what a creative use of the theme! thanks for letting me try your game!

This was way more addictive than I expected. Once I realized it was an incremental/clicker game, I got into the loop really fast. The job application theme is hilarious and painfully relatable, and the minigames/projects helped break things up nicely. The humour was great too, especially the near-job moments and rage bait.

My main feedback is that the early game feels a little slow, especially waiting for applications to build up, and the projects could maybe tie into upgrades a bit more. But overall this was super polished, funny, and weirdly hard to stop playing. Great work!

After 1834 job applications and getting rage bait 2 times, I finally landed a job! The minigames had the spinning mechanics going on too. Good clicker game!

Unironically the game I spent the most time playing so far haha.

I had a lot of fun with this, it's very smooth and well-designed. I particularly like the difference in pacing of the project tab vs the applications - though I think the projects could be more useful somehow, maybe they could count towards unlocking their own tree of upgrades? I also liked a lot that most of the game could just be played with the space bar (for any incremental game it's good to reduce the amount of moving around or interaction complexity) but I kept having this thing happen where I would auto-purchase an upgrade when I was saving up for another. I'm not sure if this is by design to preload which upgrade you want, but it backfired on me a few times. Also would say the applications come too slowly early on but I understand that's a difficult thing to balance when it's the core resource.

Overall really well done : )

Developer

Yeah, I realized that when you click on an upgrade, your mouse actually focuses on the resource, and I never changed the default focus settings, meaning that every time spacebar was pressed, the same upgrade resource would be clicked again. That's a bug I should have fixed earlier by disabling focus, but I'm sorry that caused you some issues :|

I really liked your game! I have to confess, I didn't think I was going to like it as much as I did in the start, but it grew on me.

As an improvement, I do believe maybe the job application process could have been more interactive, in a way that would have made getting a pass/fail more than just luck. But maybe I just wanted more engagement because I am not huge on idle clicker type games! Good job overall!

2 real 4 me

Once I figured out it was a clicker game, I immediately got into the groove! I understand a lot of people won't understand how you were going for the theme, but I get it, even if there's very little literal spinning. Unfortunately, I had to play on silent, so I'll rate audio 3/5 so as to not affect your ratings from others. Later I'll probably come back with sound on and rerate it!

Really cool game! These companies are too nice, most don't even send a rejection letter lol

The day's come to an end, champs, and I can safely say that this game is the best one from those that I've played today!

Great job creating this, you've earned a spot in the "very serious jam best games" collection which I'm going to update every day for the whole voting period with the best game I play that day.

Keep up the great work!

Developer

Appreciate it! Thank you so much for enjoying my game, I hope you have a great time playing other ones too :)
