Really fun idea the bullet ricochet mechanic is super creative gj
Thank you!
Ooh super well done on every front!
Really fun take on the theme. Having to set up stuff in a way to spread bullets everywhere but not on yourself is such a fun idea! The dialogue was also really charming and made for a really cool and funny vibe, loved it!
I unfortunately encountered a bug. Sometimes I was just not able to place stuff or shoot again after resetting the level. Additionally, im pretty sure people in the comments mentioned this already but volume control would have been nice!
Overall though, exceptionally well done! This is one of my favourites of the jam, super fun!
Thanks for playing and your kind words! Yeah apologies about the bugs and a lack of volume controls.
I really liked this. I did encounter some of the freezing/crashing, but I still had fun with this. Watching the bullets go crazy was a lot of fun. I'm mildly embarrassed at having set up a perfect chain reaction to cause as much damage as possible to the protag on both of my first two runs :(
I initially found myself wishing for some triangle pieces that were oriented in the opposite direction (with the angled side facing the protag), but after playing some more, maybe those would have made it too easy to perfectly set up the shots you wanted, so I'm not sure anymore; I think it's better without them (or they could be super rare if you did add them).
The sound and visuals were great (though volume sliders for music/sfx would have been appreciated!), and the dialogue was funny. I would maybe have also wanted a bit more feedback when getting hit by bullets; until I knew what to look for, I was kind of caught off-guard by the game-over screen.
Despite the crashes I experienced, I had a lot of fun with this one (and came back to it multiple times). Really nice job!
Hey thanks for playing and your detailed feedback. Glad you had fun despite the bugginess!
Simple art style. I like it. It's consistent and really nice to look at.
I think the text at the beginning should have some padding on the edges, so it doesn't go all the way to the edge of the screen. It would make reading much easier.
The dialogue sound effect is a little bit too loud compared to other audio. Sometimes it's a little bit buggy, where the sound keeps going even though the dialogue is finished. Another bug that I found is when the dialogue is near the end, clicking on the screen straight up skips the whole dialogue, instead of skipping the animation itself.
Though the dialogues themselves are funny.
The buttons at the shop is kinda buggy as well. The plus minus symbols inside is blocking the button.
The gameplay itself is pretty straightforward for me, though maybe a little bit difficult. How the bullets bounce around is really cool to see. Though maybe the robots that shoot out bullets can be a little bit varied. Maybe instead of shooting up down left right, it could shoot diagonally so it's more chaotic. The problem with it shooting in cardinal directions is it will just stay at the row/column and not go anywhere else, which is a huge problem if the robot is in the same column as your character.
It's unfortunate how it's a little bit buggy though, with the whole retry thing automatically destroying an enemy, or how sometimes it freezes the whole game.
The BGM really fits with the theme. The SFX are also nice and works with the game.
Thank you for the detailed feedback. This is the first time I've ever done dialogue in a game, that's why there are all these bugs. I apologize for how buggy the game is, but thank you for playing as much as you could and giving such detailed feedback!
That's alright. I think you did a pretty good job at the game :D
the bullet ricochet and friendly fire was so chaotic and fun to watch, i overthink too much on the shooting angle instead of letting it go haywires. fun game!
Thank you !
Artstyle and cheeky writing are super fun, as was the overall concept! I experienced crashing and freezing, and some other weird little bugs particularly when resetting. Some tiles that were like the right-triangular ones you have, but flipped over the x axis, would've been a great add.
Nice job!!
Yeah the crashing and freezing is straight up just me running out of time. Thank you for still playing and giving feedback!
Once I got the hang of it,I think the concept an the gameplay is amazing
But I wasn't able to finish the game due to constant freezing.
The art is nice to look at and the game sounds very good.
I feel the time and heal upgrade are not very useful. And I would also think of adding more different slopes. Also I don't tjhink the dynamite works as it should. I wasn't able to kill enemies with it.
If not for the bugs this would have been absolutely amazing.
Thank you so much for the feedback. Glad you liked the concept of the gameplay. I was getting in my own way trying to cram as many systems in as possible, and it added a ton of bugs.
I like the art style a lot, but I kept having problems like getting killed right away from a shooting robot in the first row. Maybe the richochet was too much? I didn't quite see how the blocks and such are meant to be used since I don't think I could place them closer to me. But I really loved the style and sounds were nice and satisfying and the story was a charming addition.
Hey thanks for playing! Yeah in hindsight, it isn't really obvious when you get hit by the bullets. The blocks were to ricochet and angle the bullets.
Wow, that's super cool. I liked the storytelling and the grid gameplay; well done! I did goof in the first match and super-murdered myself, but it was easy enough to jump back in. And a few matches in, I died and retried the level; some of my bullets stayed on the grid and broke my game when I resumed.
Thanks for playing Jcup! Yeah, apologies about the bugs. I should have focused on testing the restart and reset features instead of trying to create a dialogue system…which was also bugged lol
The Gameplay is pretty nice and a nice little story , Good Job !
Thank you for playing!
I was able to play about four levels, but when I kept failing and pressed restart level multiple times, the game eventually froze many times. On several occasions, even after defeating enemies, the level continued and led to the player’s death. I found the game really interesting, so I kept trying, but I eventually gave up after repeated crashes and bugs. Overall, it was very good as far as I played and super super polished in terms of art and UI. Perhaps you could add a skip button later on, since I had to repeatedly press the story option each time.
Hey thank you so much for playing and giving me detailed feedback despite the buggy nature and frustration with resets. These were bugs I identified but was struggling to fix before the deadline. Yeah some QoL like skipping story etc was on the docket but couldn't get to it. I appreciate your really kind words.
Whoa! This is crazy good! Good puzzles, amazing art and sound, funny .. I mean .. Just perfect! 5/5.
Thank you so much!
Love the art and overall design! Made to level 3 🤣
Thank you so much!
Funny and cool game! The art style is nice and the idee fits the theme.
Thank you for playing!
I like the art style and idea, but unfortunately, when I played it my mouse would stop being visible. Idk if this is a feature or bug, but either way I had to play the game on mobile (not ideal) cause it was simply to hard to play on pc without the mouse visible. Still I think the game is fun and the idea has potential.
Apologies. That wasn't a feature. The build is bug ridden because I implemented way too many things without testing. But thank you for playing anyways!
Loved this minimalist art style and the music choice also fits well. Great job.
Thank you!
idea is cool, but has a problem which i dont know how to solve, the problem that its really really tiring and hard to plan how the bullet is going to fly. Also limiting the player placement to the grid is awful, cant really see why you did this. Couldnt register what happened when i shot my bullet, slowing it down like 3 times would be cool. Typewriter annoys me, its slow and i cant really read while its typing. The buttons stop highlighting when hovered, feels really really off, should be other way around , dialogues are a bit buggy, lacks volume controls
Yep all valid feedback. You can click anywhere to let the dialogue skip to the end. But I should have made that more obvious. And yeah I haven't implemented volume controls. Hmm placing objects outside the grid or in between the tiles could work, I didn't think of it. Thanks for the feedback!
Extraordinarily buggy unfortunately, i couldn't complete some levels because sometimes it wouldn't reset correctly or it would freeze (?). Still, what i could play was pretty well done! u get a uhh 6/7
Yeah I was afraid of that. But thanks for your kind words.
