The downloadable version may be more stable. The web one still works really well though!

This was a spectacular entry! Absolutely loved it from start to finish!

First off, the  art in the game  is great. Love all the different dinos and other creatures. The sound effects for food is absolutely top class, and the overall presentation is wonderfully SBIG!

The gameplay is simple enough  but actually  very engaging! It kinda has the feel of an RPG maker game but not the slow pacing associated with it. I think the time limits really help with that!

Was not expecting the twist at the end. It was a very pleasant surprise! (if a tad difficult! Should have got that heart upgrade!).

Anyway. Absolute cinema. Massive well done!

Developer

I'm so glad you loved the 'placeholder heaven' that was the mix of Google images and low-quality audios!

And yeah... that heart upgrade is an important one!

Thank you so much for playing and for hosting the jam, it was super fun!!! :)

This is definitely the sort of game I think of when I think of SBIG Jam. It's a bizarre mashup of genres with a weird premise, a heap of jank, horrible graphics and bizarre audio design.

I couldn't get past the bear encounter though.

Developer

Yeah, I think I made the bear fight too hard. At least it's not mandatory (and there is a infinite health/time option if someone really wants to beat him)

Anyways, I'm very glad you liked the style of the game! Thank you for checking it out!! :)

absolute cinnamon right here. primo SBIG gesamptkunstwerk. bravo.

(did need to restart the game though - ran out of time during the bear encounter, then the 3rd scene started with the camera stuck in the top-left making it a bit unviable to continue playing. but besides that hiccup I didn’t experience any other issues)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!! :) I wasn't aware of that bug, thanks for pointing it out!!

audio ... It's just PEAK!

Haha! Thank you so much for playing! :)

This was a beautiful and charming entry! For one the voice acting is very expressive, the movement is very dynamic and well animated, and the replication of real-life cooking in digital form is par excellence!

I love how this game feels like it's put together with scotch tape, crayons, and an assortment of magazines. Combined with the simple but oddly varied little gameplay elements made for a janky little cooking game that was a feast for the eyes.

I liked the free roam aspect of wandering for recipe ingredients and the process of going through dialogues, little miscellaneous interactions and the planting seeds (which were just pixels of the full items, brilliant example of work smarter not harder btw) were all really endearing and fun I thought.

The final section I thought felt a bit off in a different, but in a way I didn't mind too too much. The bullets being shot felt almost off rhythm for most of the section, until the boss spawns (great implementation of history btw) and then it becomes normal. I don't know if I would be impressed or a little confused if the inconsistent projectiles  was intentional.

I am curious overall though, did this game build off the base of one of your existing horror games? I always find it interesting seeing devs reuse existing setups for wildly different purposes (myself included), so discovering the bear was originally a horrific monster would be a fun little detail lol.

This was an awesome entry, great work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the style of the game and its gameplay! :)

To be honest, the final section may feel clunky because it was my first time making that kind of gameplay. I think the bullets' inconsistency is due to the maximum amount of 3 bullets on the screen, which is totally intentional!

Finally, I started this game from scratch, but when I started having problems with the code I reused some mechanics and code from some of my other games (including games that I scrapped, which is always nice!). The bear is totally original, I don't remember why I added it, but I don't regret it haha!

Thank you again for the comment! I really appreciate it! :)

a masterpiece.Loved the sound design. Accidentally visited the cave to early (was looking for lettuce) and my character still said that they need spicy peppers though they shouldnt have known that yet. Very fun, with sufficient amounts of jank (accelerating with shift was fun but even than there was a lot of walking xD). The concept is fresh too. Unlike the chicken wings I borrowed from that Dino which were already cooked

Thank you so much for playing!!! :> I 100% agree on both problems, I'll try to fix them in the final version of the game!

Someone understood the assignment. This is unironically a great game. It is also ironically a great game.

Developer

Haha! Thank you so much!! :)

Only managed to get the egg for the first dish., but I like that you get to keep playing despite getting an F rating. Couldn't figure out beat the bear to get the pepper seeds. The graphics and sound are perfect for this game jam, full marks!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you so much :)!!! In the game options there should be an Infinite Health Mode and an Infinite Time Mode in case someone got stuck on something and wanted to fully experience the game. However, as you said, you can just ship it without consequences!! Thank you again for playing!

Also, to kill the bear you need to drop bombs on him!

Submitted

Yeah I found the bombs, but it felt like he would always catch me whenever my dash in on cooldown.

I love how the "seeds" are just the whole thing but pixelated

Developer

Reusing assets is the best thing ever!!

Great work, the game is super funny :D My defeat at the hands of the bear was so humiliating I had to go try again after I collected my banana split ingredients

Developer

Thank you!!! :)

Thank you so much!!! I didn't know if the game was going to end up being fun or annoying but I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
