It's impressive how many systems you managed to layer into this game within the jam time! It was also an enjoyable experience to play despite me apparently sucking at the game. I got totally overrun by the skeletons!
Fun game! Considering how much time we had I was impressed with how clear it was to play as well as how fun. That's a great balance! Perhaps there could be more UI indicators for things so you can plan ahead nicely, but I mean, given how much is in the game already and the time we had: This is amazing! Good game!
Thank you! We were impressed ourselves with how well it came together too! Haha
"Classic skeletons" actually made me lol. This is a really impressive game, especially within the time constraint. Really great job!
Awesome game! Can't believe this was made in just 4 days, one of the best submissions I have seen for the entire jam
This was made in four days? But yeah very polished, was a bit confused what determined battles between knights and the skeletons but otherwise really nice!
So polished for 4 days, amazing work!
Insane how much gameplay this has for such a short time, love it!
Really impressive and clever. I wish the enemies were a little more distinct, but yeah, this is really cool!
Really impressive amount of content. Feels very complete. I like how production depends on adjacent hexes. I wish there was an easy mode!
Heck yeah! I love me a good kingdom builder! Love the premise of resource yields being on a timer!
There are some things that I didn't understand at first. It took me a while to understand that the archer towers wanted unrefined ore and not metal bars. Extremely impressive that you managed to make such a polished and fun game. I can totally see this turn into a full game. !
Outstanding work! :)
please enlighten us, how could you guys manage all these complex systems even submitting the game 7 hours before?
good job
Two of us are software engineers by trade, so we just put our heads down and slammed out as much as possible!
It also helps to design the systems smartly. For example, the upgrades system is designed to add upgrades of any a few generic types extremely easily, and more complex upgrades aren’t much harder. All the logic around the resources is central and calculating what they should be based on upgrades is also trivial. Basically, all the systems are setup at least semi-modulary, and they all work together and talk together in smart, but also intentionally “dumb” ways. Haha so if we wanted to add a new resource, we just add a new resource and can use it right away. Same with buildings and anything that doesn’t require new super unique behavior.
It was impressive. It's funny because about two years ago we tried to build a similar modular system, but we failed miserably. I think one reason is that our day jobs are in vehicle simulation, where systems tend to be much more specialized. We probably brought that mindset into trying to build a hex-based strategy game. Thanks for sharing.
Steps based is not my favorite kind of tutorial, but way better than giving me a giant text wall explaining everything, really well made. Visuals are astonishing, I really love them, super cozy and cute. Music and SFX amazing aswell. It’s a bit laggy when running the web version, maybe there’s room for optmization. Gameplay is simple and fun. Congrats, this is an amazing submission!
Wow, this is essentially a turn-based game, but with the addition of a timer it feels completely different. It's really interesting that you used the idea of a jam to add a timer to a place where there shouldn't be one.
Thank you! Going into the jam I was thinking about making a turn based game, but the countdown theme really helped us ideate!
Great strategy game. I just wasn't aware about the upgrade menu, there could be a signal that indicates you when there's an available upgrade
That’s a good idea about the notification on upgrade availability.
Incredible work! It's great to see someone else made a hex-based kingdom-building game too!
Oh nice! Your game is very cool. Your game reminds me of Greed Corp a bit!
At first I was not aware that resources were depleting and I had to destroy my buildings so maybe a way to replentish forests or smth might be useful. But the game is very polished and feature rich!
Incredibly polished game. Got me really invested in the building and combat. Very fun!
Pretty nice polish! Didn't have a single bug. had a fun time, great job
Fun and cozy, nice!
Really fun and I love the art! I kinda struggled the first few attempts, so it might be a bit too hard (or maybe I'm just bad).
