Absolutely brilliant presentation and unique mechanic, with some more enemies and nodes this could be a great game with some great depth. High score is 176 :) Great game!

How does your game fit the theme?
Every organism fights for survival in a world governed by timers, each counting down to their inevitable demise. Equip strategic nodes to fight or thrive, but be warned: every node you attach is also counting down to its own death.

I really like the cellular theme of the game, I like the art and the colorful background that adds to the feel of being in a microscopic biome. It is also very satisfactory to eat the small bacteria pieces and I love the diversity of microorganisms. But the _ R E B O O T screens plays for a bit long though.
Also, in regards to it being better in Windows directly, I somehow have it the other way around. It plays fine, if a bit laggy on browser, but never finishes loading when I run the executable in my computer, it just shows the static screen.
My high score was 168 by the way.
Hello! All of the issues you’re experiencing are unfortunately due to the time limit. I wasn’t able to figure out the proper loading implementation in time, so after each round I’m currently deleting and reloading the entire game. Since that takes some time, I needed something to cover the process, which is what the reboot screen is for. That’s also why it stays on screen for so long.
I definitely need to improve my approach to things like this in the future. The reason the Windows version doesn’t load is because I’m currently detecting when the game has finished loading by checking whether the FPS exceeds a certain threshold, which is admittedly not a great solution. I was able to lower that threshold significantly for the web version right before the deadline (luckily, someone pointed this out), but I wasn’t able to make the same change for the Windows version because I was in a huge rush.
The Windows version should run significantly better once it actually loads properly.
Thank you very much for playing the game!
Waouh, the game is visually gorgeous the art style is so colorful and the world feels super cohesive! The music fits the vibe perfectly too.
I had a lot of fun playing, even though a few mechanics aren't super clear, like how to gain extra time or how the active scoring system works. But overall, the game is incredibly polished from the menus all the way into the gameplay.
Great job!
What a game I absolutly loved it ! The idea is really original. The art style is just incredible and everithing fits perfectly (How is it even possible to do that in only 4 days !). The game is very captivating and I could play it for hours trying to get the best score possible. To give you a constructive feedback I think it would be great to have some explanations or a tutorial level to understand what every enemies and nodes do. Moreover I think a score indication in the level would be great (I made a score of 273 by the way). Finally I think thant the control to look arround are a bit disturbing because when the mouse is near the creature, it's turning faster and slower when the mouse is further (and the mouse can sometimes go out of the screen which is not very great when there are enemies trying to kill you). Honnestly great job you really deserve to win this jam !
Thank you for the kind comment! I definitely agree that the game is missing some additional explanation.
As for the mouse controls, this is something I thought about quite a bit, especially since it was brought up during testing. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to come up with a good solution within the time I had left.
Thank you again for playing the game, and congratulations on your score of 273!
Very unique and fun idea. The visuals, sound and overall vibe is really cool. The game feels very polished - really enjoyed it! 😁
The game looks truly amazing. The mechanics feel very satisfying, and I can say the same for the look of the design. The design is wonderfully supported and built with the minimalist UI and sound. It's well polished with transition effects and other elements. Had so much fun, cool game.
I love that Psychedelic style! The idea of the base, that collects different weaponised bacteries is great, but the gameplay is 2/5 for me, wasn't really addictive. Overall - you did great job, cool game!
Excellent artwork and sound design.
Was fun to play, but I feel that the theme detracts from it. For example, if it weren't for timers, players could equip different nodes and use them more strategically. Nodes could be strong against certain organisms and weak against others. But, since they're so fleeting, you just grab whatever you can find. You could still make the nodes degrade based on their usage.
Some more variety of nodes would have been nice. For example, a dash node.
Cool game! I really liked the art and all of the nodes were interesting. initially trying to figure out what each one did was tough at first but I got the hang of it, sometimes I'd mix up the explodey node and the fat node and be confused by my sudden explosion vs large knockback.
Really great entry though the music and visuals culminate into something special and a nice way to incorporate the theme! The gameplay reminds me a lot of those big IO games where you're a circle who eats the other smaller circles lol
The game looks good and the gameplay promise is interesting, but in reality, during the game, the player simply collects all the junk he see on the screen (to survive) + collects all the modules he can find.
There's a lack of opportunity to truly understand the difference between modules; you just eat and collect everything you see and try not to fight enemies or touch the green gas.
It's a shame that at the end of a game session there's no clear "you've scored so many points" screen or anything like that. Instead, you have to watch for a long time as the "REBOOT... letter by letter" message appears. It took me a long time to figure out where to check my score; my score is 164.
Hello, and thank you for the feedback. I feel that most of the complaints you mentioned are largely a result of how you chose to approach the game. I can say with confidence that the players with the highest scores did not try to avoid fighting the enemies. While fighting the enemies does require more skill, it also ultimately leads to a much longer survival time.
As for displaying the score after a run, you are absolutely right. I only implemented the scoring system during the last half hour of the jam, so I unfortunately did not have enough time to create a proper ending screen.
Thank you for playing the game!
Came back to play even more and because I forgot to rate the game last time :)
I nearly got a score high enough to go on the leaderboard. I also discovered the big enemy cells that join on to you to eat you, they're terrifying. Great stuff
What a cool idea for a game! I found it surprisingly easy to memorise what each attachment does based on visual alone, even though there's a nice big variety of them. My favourite is the purple spike one because I love launching myself off of enemies and the impact feels very real.
For the first couple of rounds it was hard for me to tell what was what (an enemy, an attachment for my cell, or food) so I kept running into bad situations, but once I got the hang of it I figured out there's actually quite a bit of strategy and movement tech packed into this thing.
The vibe of being under a microscope is a great idea as well. I feel like I'm just looking through at a little microscopic world where stuff lives and dies all the time. Even the small details like showing the temperature in the bottom don't go unappreciated!
Reminded me a bit of agar.io, that classic (is it technically a classic now?) game about cells eating each other. I can see this being an awesome online experience with a community dedicated to learning how to play optimally and all that stuff.
