How does your game fit the theme?
You have a limited number of jumps and you have to complete multiple iterations of every level. In each subsequent iteration, your number of jumps counts down.

This graphic style is beautiful—very simple, yet perfectly suited to the music and mechanics.

This minimalistic artstyle really fits the vibe of the game. The jump-countdown that allows no mistakes makes it a really nice challenge. I liked to figure out where to go next and what jump is wrong. Gread game.

This game is awesome! I love how the countdown is done, pretty slick. I loved the art also.

Probably the best puzzle game Ive seen so far. Unbelievably complex. Controls, visuals, and music are all great. Could easily be a full game in the future.

this is the best puzzle game I've played in the jam. absolutely love the concept, one of those ideas that I'm mad i didn't think of. that last puzzle really had me. great spin on the theme and a nice inside joke for programmers. would love to see this idea iterated upon further :).

Sometimes you just want a dang fine puzzle game and that is exactly what this is! Only thing I could suggest to improve is to allows a "Go back an iteration" option, especially on the last two levels where you want to do some more experimenting?

Developer

thanks for playing! that feature is something i'm considering and thinking of ways to implement.

The level design is well done, and I love the theme incorporation and general enjoyment!

I love the squishy animations, the jumps feels right, the well i guess iterated cubes coming in and out of the objects look so nice, the music feels satisfying, (thank you btw for the crt toggle, I usually like playing if its more clean), and really I don't have anything majorly negative. The bugs only occur with pressing R/Q at incorrect times, which probably can be cleaned up.

Overall, just well done! Thank you for submitting to the game jam!

thanks for playing! i'm aware of the reset bug during the finish animation, it was too tricky for me to figure out during development time, but that will certainly be fixed post-jam.

Cool idea and great puzzle design - the last level in particular was very clever.

The puzzles were a lot of fun. I feel like I’m getting closer to a solution every time I try a new approach, and that, to me, is the indicator of a truly great puzzle game.

I wasn't expecting a countdown game imagined as a for loop. XD

I really like the idea of limited moves that decrease at every iteration, especially when there's a good amount of stuff to do to help the iterations that come after. I really liked the last two puzzle, I would've played more of them, since the one before seemed a little too easy, but worked well for introducing the theme.

Here's the VOD (game is at 0:07:00)

thank you for playing and for sharing the VOD! i also would have liked to design more levels, but they took a lot of time and thought, so i was pretty bankrupt on ideas and energy by the final night. i am strongly considering adding more levels in a future update, though!

I think what stood out for me wasn't just the creative level design or the unified art style, but the really great progression of each level, each one being progressively more difficult. This always feels difficult to do during a game jam, did you specifically test the level ordering to get the difficulty curve right?!

Developer

thanks for playing! while that wasn't something i specifically tried to test for, it was something i had kept in mind when designing and ordering the levels. from what i had seen from playtests, the early levels testers struggled on tended to vary (some even struggled a little on the first level!). there were some, like the introduction to moving platforms level, that i intentionally designed to be a bit on the simpler side to be like a tutorial, and people typically got those faster. i mainly used my own judgment to determine the difficulty of the levels. (part of that determination was how long it took for me to design the level.) i think the difficulty just tends to scale naturally as more mechanics and higher iteration counts get introduced. once all the mechanics were introduced, i intended for the final 3 levels to also get increasingly harder, in part through complexity of level layout, and in part number of iterations. and the final level specifically was just my shot at a challenge level. if i had more time, i would have liked to design more levels between that and the second to last level, since i think the difficulty jump is pretty apparent between those two.

Okay, this is EXCELLENT. By far one of the coolest interpretations of the theme I’ve seen, and super well-designed.

Such a good puzzle platformer! The iteration mechanic is so interesting and the levels are very well designed. Love the artstyle too. Great stuff!

Very cute puzzle game! Couldn't get past the last level though :(

Submitted(+1)

this is a nice spin on the theme :) levels are very cleverly designed, I was thoroughly impressed the whole way through

great job, keep it up! <3

Interesting puzzle concepts !

Excellent game, even greater level design - great job !

The level design is really good here.

Also found a curious bug: you can use a key on a door that’s already been opened so you lose the key. Nothing gamebreaking but should be a simple fix so maybe for a post jam fixup.

Developer(+1)

thanks for the report and for playing the game! i am aware of that, and yeah it will be getting fixed post-jam

This is probably the best puzzle platformer ive played so far

Truly amazing level design! A simple concept with a lot of polish. 10/10
