Incredibly difficult! Interesting idea with fun potential but unfortunately either the learning curve is too difficult or I just lack the skill. Nice art and assets though!
I didn't get through the tutorial, I gave up after getting stuck in the pit on the left too many times and having to wait for the time to countdown to restart. How were you supposed to use the dash? It seemed to just happen randomly. Maybe I'm just a little bit dense.
Don't worry! It was probably just a small design flaw on my part. Basically, skills activate automatically. When you pick one up, it shows in the bottom left with a timestamp. It will trigger on its own as soon as the main timer at the top reaches that exact time. If you decide to play again, good luck!
You definitely should get a prize for submitting just before the countdown hits 0 in a countdown jam. And congrats on your first game! I really like the concept, especially the idea of actions occurring at predetermined points on the countdown. I think it could just do with a few added quality of life changes, in the character controller and UX (e.g. coyote time and a restart button)
Hats off to you for finishing it 1 second before the deadline LMAO - I don't think I can handle that much stress at once. I wonder what more features you're gonna add to the game - maybe you can add a mechanic where you can go through walls, or generate a wall below your feet when the countdown goes to that value, or maybe there could be an ability where you can have a magnet for the key to grab? I would also recommend having players always having the reset button available to them instead of waiting for the timer to run out! I'm glad you were able to finish your game on time, and I hope you get some great rest after this! Good luck the rest of your jam!
The game looks and sounds good. The gameplay is basic, but interesting. The controls are strange and not suitable for a platformer. There are also important features missing, such as the coyote's time and metrics when creating a level.
I was unable to complete the game.
'1 second before the deadline' is actually incredible!
Glad you made it though, I really enjoyed it! Deceptively simple mechanic but some clever puzzle design to really make the most of it. I wish it had some kind of ticking sound so I had a better idea of seconds passing without looking at the timer, but all in all this was really good!
Fun concept, but it is definitely hard to master
Nicely TIMED submission lol
The idea fits well with the theme, and the level designs are pretty cool.
However, I think some quality of life features should help ease the discouragement from the punishing levels, like instant restart or customizible input.
Very challenging, but once I got the hang of it I started to enjoy it. Clever level design, especially the last one. Although the cleverness is not clearly communicated to the player. An instant reset button would have caused me less frustration.
Cool mechanics overall. 1 second before the deadline is diabolical haha
Well done! :)
Very very challenging game, I was able to beat it though. Being able to restart whenever would be a nice feature. I did really enjoy it, it was nice when I actually started getting good and was able to time everything correctly.
the game is good and has an interesting take on the timer mechanic! (although, as others wrote, it is very hard. i barely finished the beginning)
and you wrote that you started late and went with the first idea, that is impressive!
but maybe this games funniest legacy will be that it was submitted 1 second before the deadline in the jam with the count down theme. that is shakespeare-level of comedy. was that intended? some kind of meta-joke? :D
Thanks! And honestly, submitting 1 second before the deadline wasn't a joke, it was pure panic. I was internally screaming the whole time, lol.
hahaha well congratulations for making it in that case! :D
Charming game, pretty hard as well.
Would be nice to be able to restart level with R before the timer runs out tho.
But in any case, nice job ! And its your first game too, really impressive.
The game is hard but I really enjoy it. It's fit the theme so good.
Really creative, but I played hollow knight on the xbox, so I didn't get the controls, and the game is hard, but good job.
The submission is pretty timed before the submission XD, well designed game, great work!
Congrats on uploading 1 sec before the end :p The controls were a bit too hard for me
Couldn't even finish the tutorial, maybe just a skill issue but game's hard, fun concept though!
This was hard! I was skeptical about the concept at first, but once I got out of the tutorial level and everything started coming together, I was a big fan. I'm going to echo the sentiment that you should be able to press R to restart at any point instead of having to mash K if you mess up the first jump, for instance.
Great job!
