I didn't get very far, but I though it was a good game - loved playing it and thought it deserved a good rating. Nice job!

Nice one, one of the best I've played in this jam, very polished! Sometimes frustrating, but it was only minor. I think the theme got interpreted very nicely here, and what happened in the background made up for a good story even :)

Good job! This should be amongs the top in many categories

63 mice may have been harmed in the making of this playthrough...

Very fun game and creative take on the theme! It took me a while to get used to all of the mechanics but once I did I had a blast. Some of the levels were pretty challenging, which was fun. Great entry!

This is so charming, I love your art style, the game has so much personality, I really enjoy the music and sfx aswell. The gameplay is fun but brutal (poor rats). I think this could really use an in-game tutorial, would lead to a much smoother experience than having to read the description. Still, great game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you ! we added a recap of the controls in the pause menu (ESC to pause) hoping it would be enough but we are currently working on extra tutorial rooms for the post-jam release ! Thanks for your review and for playing !

Really cute and clever game! The early levels felt a little overwhelming, but the later ones showed how much potential the mechanic has. Dying near the end could be frustrating, and I got way too attached to my first mouse :c

Really good entry! The platforming felt nice and the art was great! Although the sound when the rat gets electrocuted and it slowly changing colour made me feel sad...

Really creative idea and honestly a really well-made puzzle game within the time of the jam! I personally had a few gripes about the movement and consistency of where the ball would be kicked. I know it's in theme that the kick has a "countdown" for, like, charging how far you're going to kick it, but honestly I found it pretty frustrating to use. It would have been nice if I could control the angle/power I was going to kick it instead of it being that wind-up. That is, however, a very small complaint I had, and the rest of the game was fantastic. I loved the ambiance; hearing people chatter and play table tennis(?) in the background was all so charming. The music was groovy and blended with the overall vibe. The art is really cute, and I think I noticed that one of the mugs in the bottom UI has the aperture logo, which is awesome. Amazing job!!!

The artwork and UI here are stellar! Love the player mouses animations!

Wow that was a lot of fun!

I had trouble during the first levels, especially the one introducing both the ball and the cable at the same time (this might have been a bit much, and a slower learning curve like with electric balls would have been nice). But the later levels revealed the potential of the idea to me and it's very well made and smart.

Sometimes it's a bit annoying to die right at the end and do it all over again, but that stays fun.

The visuals are really cute with the mouse animations. I didn't really like that my mouse changed at every death I wanted to keep the first one and it made me sad :c

Well done, I had a really great time, love that the ending restarts the loop too!

Developer

Thank you ! Making more tutorials levels is on the top of the mist for post jam updates. If you find the secret ending, the story doesn’t have to loop for the poor mice… Thanks again for the feedback !

:o There was a secret ending on top of everything! Wow.

Thanks for your answer.

This game is really fun! Great artwork and the implementation of the mechanics were very well made. The player controller is also amazing and I love how you change to a different mouse after each life, its such a cute detail.

The power mechanic though was a bit difficult to understand  - I was only able to figure it out once I read the comment about it here - but once I figured that out it was smooth sailing. I too wish there was a way to better manage cables though

Great game! I can totally see this game get top 100 due how polished it really is

Thank you ! I just noticed that you’re the creator of rooms within rooms within rooms for the jam a few years back ! I loved that game back then !

I KNEW I RECOGNIZED YOU

Concrete kaiju was really good too! Your games are really well presented as always!

Great artwork and a solid implementation of the topic. Liked your creative approach, and the puzzles are well-balanced in terms of time/complexity, good job!

It took me an hour, but I did it! Although, let's have a moment of silence for the some 70 mice that got electrocuted under my command.

The main thing that threw me off was the power system. At first, I didn't realize that I needed both power AND a yarn ball to activate the orange ball holder things, so I was stuck wondering why the ball wasn't triggering it. Another thing I had trouble with was throwing the cables up. I'm not sure if I was just unused to the control scheme, but I threw up a lot of cables by accident, so I kind of wish there was a way to cut a cable.

Also, I encountered a bug where sometimes you just get stuck on a cable until you get electrocuted or restart. I'm not sure why it happens, but I think it's if you throw up a cable too close to the wall. Another (possibly a) bug that I noticed was that sometimes, holding down the UP key on a cable would just cause you to bounce on top of the cable and not be able to get on the platforms. Both of these bugs were responsible for a handful of deaths, but not anywhere close to a majority.

Overall a solid entry!

Thank you for such a thorough feedback ! We’ll make sure to correct all of these in the final version, this is invaluable information :)

To add to what the better half of H&T said :

  • The way we introduced the receivers was indeed too sudden and we should have started with a room where at least one receiver is already powered so the players would notice the sprite difference and make the connexion… In general we gave ourselves a 10 room goal for the jam when at least 3 ou 4 more would have been useful as sort of tutorials.
  • We’ll look into the cable issue, this is the first time we hear it, but also removing cables could be a good implementation for future puzzles !
  • We are sorry for those bugs and will definitely try to fix them for the post jam release !

Thanks again for playing and taking the time to type out all of this useful feedback !

HINTS AND TIPS !

Since we couldn’t add a level selector in the 4 days limit of the jam, and because some puzzle have proved more challenging that expected, we provided in the comments of the itch.io page a little walk-through guide if you happen to get stuck on some level. Don’t hesitate to check it if needed !

I LOVE THE ARTSTYLE.

The animation fo of the mouse rolling the yarn ball looks kinda sussy lol.

Definitly one of my top games ive played! Its well polished on all ends and the puzzles are awesome. Great work!

Submitted(+1)

All the levels are really creative, the art style is cute and the atmosphere is unique ! I really enjoyed doing all the puzzles and I'm not gonna lie I raged 2 or 3 times ahah. My favorite game of the jam for now. Free the mouses

Extremely polished and goog entry. Cool concept, cool level design and cool art!

woaah that was fun. My friend actually tests in mice, but it's for cancer research, so I felt very bad for the mice. Always struggling to think about it. Felt great to try to free the mice for a change. thank you! Adorable artwork! The controls could be a little clearer in the introduction, and in the first scene I was so overwhelmed by so many mice that I didn't know which one I was controlling. I'm not sure if this is intentional. and the death animation is brutal please keep that. I think it gives it a lot of deph because of it. It felt harrowing. your presentation is on point lets goooo! great job!!

Developer

Thank you for playing and your kind words ! Being lost in the crowd in the beginning is absolutely a part of the experience, and if you reach the end you’ll see that the pen will be more or less empty depending on how many mice died on the way.

Love how creative the puzzles were made.  Everything was really well fitted together and extra props but how cute the mices are. Great game!

incredibly charming game with very cute mice! in my mind all the mice i went through were secretly shock absorbent & surely very alive...

Developer (1 edit)

The lab has a room called “the Farm” where are the retired mice go after failing a test. I’ve never been there and sometimes black smoke comes from under the door but i’m sure they’re all having fun there !
