Nice work! This was quite a charming project!

I thought the game feel was really nice and the environment had a lot of character. One suggestion I might have for the visuals would be to adjust some of the values on the interactive elements in the lift so it was a little easier to read what was button/interactive part and what wasn't, but I particularly like the mechanical sounds of the lift. I think you nailed the acceleration and deceleration feel quite well and the"ding" of the bell on the floor stops was nice as well as the door opening and closing sound. That was a nice bit of validation to know you'd reached the floor successfully,

I think with some quality of life improvements and some more visual call-outs (like little sound line vfx from the phone and some more obvious lights from the floor numbers on the dial etc) could help rectify a couple of readability issues, but I could see this being a kind of lynch-ian lift simulator eventually.

Also maybe having a little magnetism when you get close enough to the each floor so you don't have to be pixel perfect could help a little too, but great work getting this done in time for the jam! Congrats!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! That was actually good feedback, the magnetism for the elevator landing is a must, we've also noticed it's jarring to align pixel perfectly. There is a  slight "room" for aligning", but magnetism would be better.

It's a little difficult to understand at first, but it's really nice later on.

Hi!

I really like the art!

Personally I found the intro text too much to comprehend in one go. I had to look up the controls after.

At first I was always unsure where to go, but funnily enough, once I started counting it made click. So great job on that part!

The art was perfect, the sounds fitting too, but I would have maybe tuned them down a bit.

But overall a really relaxing cozy game :)

The art is phenomenal. The idea very unique.
There is only 1 thing that gave me trouble, I feel like stopping on the right floor had to be very pixel perfect for the doors to open. Other than that I feel like this game is a hidden gem and should be played by more people!

Finished the game, and it froze upon restart. Otherwise well done!

Take me a while to understand how floors work (i expected them to be somehow alphabetic lol).

Love the feeling of trying some old-fashioned job like that. Really fun

Love the art and atmosphere. But I think the controls are a tad poorly designed. There is no hotkey to check the customer book, and no hotkey to close any of the instruments other than a with the mouse. Additionally, the lift is hard to align (though I assume by design). I found dragging the lever using a mouse on the screen was more reliable than W/S throttle controls.
Anyway the art style and idea more than make up for it. Lost a bunch of times, absolutely enjoyed the passangers.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Also, yeah, the lift is miles better to use with the mouse instead of w/s. We'll take note of the points you've made and overhaul the game post jam.

Absolutely adore the concept of this game and its narrative, including the various personalities and the design of the ornate lift. Would've loved some onscreen control layout so I don't have to keep track of all the various buttons to press but can't wait to see this expanded on!

The concept is awesome and the art is great but I feel like the project is too ambitious for it's own  good, in the context of such a short jam. The floors could be indicated a little better and I KNOW that you wanted to make more passenger variety and stuff because I see the spirit of the game but I can also see the hurry, I relate to that feeling. This honestly would make a good full game in the vein of Papers please and other immersive story driven experiences. Edit: Just saw your comments and I promise I'm not just regurgitating your own comments to you, these are my own sincere thoughts lol

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I understand, it's actually good if more people point out the bad stuff, there's nothing wrong with that.

Artwork is delightful, vibe is pristine, but the accesibility is very hard. The controls feel clumsy and the tutorial is overwhelming. Maybe the systems could be introduced one by one instead of all at once? The concept feels very Papers, Please! inspired, and I would love to be able to feel the same ease of playing with your twist on

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you for the feedback! Yes, the game is inspired by Papers, Please!, but  we couldn't flesh out the game fully before the deadline, hence the overwhelming tutorial. Post jam, we plan on making the game accessible, slowly revealing different features through gameplay and the passengers having modifiers that you need to track and be aware of. I'm glad you found the idea intersting.

The vibe is great, the artwork is beautiful and the sound suits it well . I appreciate the polish given to this game. My one issue is that I get that the intro is belabouring the point for the narrative reason of being a job briefing, but the perpetually moving text and the  amount of it made it very inaccessible for someone like me with dyslexia.

Developer(+1)

I'm sorry to hear that, I received frequent feedback about the tutorial being hard to read. We'll work on it post jam for sure. Thank you for playing and rating our game!

waw totally nailed the art , so beautiful

Developer

Thank you!

Wow what beautiful artwork and polished feel. Sadly I am not good enough at the game to experience more of it as I just got stuck trying to align the elevator :D

Developer

Thanks! The elevator is hard to align, it's one of the stuff we couldn't fix before the jam ended.

i love this idea but i couldn't get the door open bc i couldnt see where to dock. such a bummer i really wouldve loved to see more of this. the art and concept really catches me! also the eyes on top floor was a real highlight. is it possible to post a video of your hole gameplay? i would love to see more of this !

Submitted(+2)

The concept is very creative! The animations look great, and I liked all the different floors. As a sound guy, I also appreciate the sound design, especially the use of FMOD to make the elevator engine sound, really cool.

I do think the gameplay would benefit from a bit more clarity. I sometimes couldn't tell which floor I was on or whether the elevator was close enough to a floor to open the door. Maybe having a very visible line on both the elevator door and each floor would make it clearer when they're properly aligned?

Still, very nice submission. Congrats to the team!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the nice comment, the sound was really fun to do (there was more but we didn't quite get that version built in time for the deadline),

The difficulty of lining up the floors is something we want to fix in a post jam update at some point.

Submitted(+1)

It is very hard to control; the concept is great, and the art is very nice!

Submitted(+1)

I enjoyed this a lot. I did find the controls a bit janky so would love to come back and see how it develops post jam :) It was hard to tell when you had lined up to the correct floor, and I was looking forward to see lots of different types of passengers.

Very impressive for the jam time-scale! :)

Developer

Fun fact there are different type of passengers in terms of behaviour but since we didnt have enough time for the character art they all look and feel the same , also thank you for the positive comments. We definitely plan to continue this post jam.
