Fun game idea and nice visuals, good job!

I don't know why, but I really liked the game. It's perfect for jam. Fast. easy to understand, beautiful. The fact that you have drawn different locations, different snowmen. It beautiful I liked everything in the game. There's nothing to find fault with. I even felt the adrenaline rush. Forgive me for being intrusive, but I would be very happy if you also played my game, it is also very interesting, although not perfect)

great game with a really good idea and great execution , the art is also very good and i really liked the vibe!! one of the best games in this jam!

btw i would really appreciate it if you play and rate my game Fever Knight!

A very strong project with excellent execution. The way you interpreted the jam theme feels really original! :)

I really liked this one, great premise + very impressive for your first game too! :O

Things I loved:

  • Hot Potato + Musical Chairs are 2 great tastes that taste great together! Really inspired gameplay combo :D
  • Control scheme was surprisingly simple, very easy to pick up with little friction after the first round
  • Really great art + general aesthetic vibe :)
  • Having the Pro difficulty was a good choice, I liked that final challenge once I had the hang of the core loop

Things I'd love to see:

  • Some more audio cues would be nice, the music works well but I think some sfx feedback to know when you're holding the potato + when its about to burn out would really help make it feel more responsive
  • UI is a little bit noisy, I think the bottom right + bottom left gfx are a bit redundant (especially if you had sfx audio cues for the potato)
  • Tutorial gfx were very helpful, but it would've been nice to have it either communicated at the start of the first round, or broken into multiple explainer screens that logically follow each other, rather than 1 giant diagram
  • Multiplayer version ;D

Huge thx for the feedback, ill have a look to the recommendations!!!

Id love to implement a multiplayer version!

Review of a guy i made the game with:

Really cool and original concept, but the implementation is weak.
Controls feel unresponsive, as you have to react fast but key presses are registered with a delay.
Game is not very clear on how the potato operates. There is too much  noise.
Needs polish, but, as previously said, good concept.

Thx for the feedback!! and yes, the timings are not the best :p

after the jam ill try to improve it!

The best part about the game is its idea. It really fits into the theme and just already sounds fun on paper. Although it feels a bit barebone as the whole game, I still really enjoyed the short, well executed experience!

The game being a bit rough around the edges, more in term of user experience than gameplay, has to be expected from a gamejam creation but I feel like the tutorial screen especially did not need to explain so many intuitive things and look so complex. The quickest fix would be to remove it and just indicate the goal, as the game really is well crafted on its own.

Overall, a solid submission with a really good and ingenious base idea that I would have loved to be able to play a bit more! ❤️

Thx for the feedback, there are so many things we wanted to implement but as you said the jam scope and limited time left outside some ideas (also, the uploaded version has less chairs than we configured)

Fun game. Can be a great mini-game to play with a co-op friend in a game like Stardew Valley or alike.
Thanks!

It's very fun and fits the theme well.

I wish there was an in-game tutorial instead of a page of instructions.  I prefer being eased-in into a game with simple instructions fed to me piece by piece instead of all at once.  I did not play or rate the game.

Thanks for the feedback, i rly like the idea and i would try to do it after the jam <3 (along with a refactoring of the code… its a mess rn)

its a shame you didnt play it but i understand the reasons :c

pd: i will remember this for other games or jams!!!

Nice idea. I remember a similar real-life, non-computer-related game I played as a kid (35+ years ago). A lot is going on art-wise, so It's hard sometimes to see the potato on my head or where I need to sit. But overall it's a nice idea for the theme, and it has a lot of polished elements to it.

What a great idea for the theme, really love this one.

Very fun and challenging! I like the idea very much!

Neat Game! found a bug where if the last opponent dies to the potato the game becomes unwinnable cuz there would be no more chairs.

Developer

Good to know the win condition is not triggering there, THANKS!!

Really clever idea and fits the theme great. Kept me wanting to keep playing! Only tiny gripe was sometimes I found it hard to find myself at the start of a new round.
