Great control scheme !

I love how the noir aesthetic contrasted with me flailing objects around like an absolute idiot.

I love the style, this feels like alot of work was put into it great job!!

Okay this is an absolute underrated little marvel of an entry!

As countdown concepts go, I've not seen one quite so as inventive as an old coin-operated phone-booths, and the noir theme just made it drip with artistic style. Mechanically I felt it was tough but in the slightly hilarious Surgeon Simulator way, where I'm desperately trying to pick coins off the floor with my fat fingers. I've not yet been able to clear the whole segment yet, owing to some pretty terrible coin-slotting management on my part (though I didn't have the same issues with phone-operation some reviewers had), but I know I'll be back, easy add to my favourites list.

As an aside, the little GMTK & Godot on the coins is an awesome little detail, made me smile ear to ear!
Hard to find fault really, contained, fantastic entry!

I’m really happy you enjoyed the game! It’s funny that you mentioned Surgeon Simulator, because originally the idea was for the player to control a physics-based arm, but it turned out to be incredibly difficult to handle and we couldn’t get it to feel right. In the end, we decided to remove the arm, although there are actually some GIFs in GMTK Discord channel showing part of the development process.

If you enjoyed it, I just wanted to mention that we’re planning to release a post-jam update to fix some bugs and further improve the experience. Thank you so much for playing and for leaving such a detailed comment! That made us smile ear to ear too! :D

Definitely shall be swinging by after in that case, I look forward to it!

Loved the atmosphere, really well done, artstyle was also a breath of fresh air!

Super atmospheric and beautiful audio! Well done on that front! However, the controls are hellish! After trying for the 12th time dialing the number without the disc skipping midway I gave up. Sorry :(

Yoooo, its so awesome art and style combination! I think gamepage looks good, but it will be more beautiful when have dark colors.

You did a great job, good luck with this project <3

Took me embarrassingly long to realise that I could slot the coins in the box with the nixie clock (nice touch, where do you find such call booth, for.. no particular purpose). I think it would help people with disability or shitty mouse that you could have an option to just click on a object to hold it (calling the number was hell for me) :)

great game ! easy 5 star

Developer

I’m really glad you enjoyed the game!

As you’ve probably seen from other comments, quite a few people found it challenging, so after the jam we’re planning to improve several aspects of the experience.

Your accessibility suggestion is a really good one, we hadn’t considered it, and we think it could be a great optional feature to add!

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

This game is really cool !

Really cool masterpiece! But it's reallly a bit tricky to operate.

Amazing visuals, and the premise looks really interesting. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to finish the game because I struggled quite a bit with the controls. On my third try, I managed to get to the wires after inserting a bunch of coins before starting the call. When the caller told me to cut the red wire, though, I wasn't sure what to do since the game is all black and white. I ended up cutting the wrong one, according to the person on the phone. In hindsight, I probably should have waited to see if it was a lie, but I got frustrated and didn't stick around to see what happened afterward.

Despite that, I really applaud the creativity and the atmosphere. It's definitely one of the most memorable games among the ones I played. Great job!

Hahaha Thank you so much for playing through all the game!!

Your feedback is valuable.

We forgot a crucial part of the scenary, we planed to put a red car beside the cabin and mention it was red for you to compare cables.

I’m so sorry for that!

The game looks great, the visual effects, music and sound effects give it a very strong atmosphere!

Unfortunately I was unable to get very far... after fighting with the coins for a little while, I couldn't get the call starting... I probably messed up the number or something.

Developer(+1)

Aaah, sad you missed the part where the music changes :)

Maybe you didn’t get the timer over a minute to start the call?

Thank you for playing!

Absolutely amazing aesthetic.  Visuals and audio were simply stunning.  Best looking game I've played this jam (I've played around 70 so far).

I fully understand the allure of making a diegetic UI.  I've done a game like that just recently.  But, the controls were a real challenge, to say the least.  Would have been better to have a puzzle to challenge the player, than such finicky controls.

Minor: you forgot to zip your windows and linux builds.

Developer(+2)

Hey, Thank you for playing and pointing us towards the unzipped builds.

We actually have two puzzles in the game, once you start the call and after a while fighting the countdown the caller hits you with a riddle. Later on there is another decision to make.

Unfortunately the coin slot is too small and is preventing people to fully enjoy all the “story” in the game, sorry for that :)

We are discussing for the next build if it is better to make the coins add more time or make the coin slot bigger.

Thank you for playing!

Fun atmosphere! I think some of the interactions were too difficult for what they were supposed to be doing (e.g. when dialing, it felt a bit unnecessary that the mouse needed to stay within the dial and couldn't just vaguely rotate around). For a game like this which is more atmospheric I think you can afford to make it pretty much 'challenge free'. But I had a fun time regardless, thanks for sharing!

Adore the noir vibes! Very cool. <3
Just wish the coin slot was slightly bigger, haha.

Good job! :)

Took time but once I got a hang of it was a great game! making such an atmospheric 3d game in a game jam is amazing!

Submitted(+2)

I love the idea, but damn this coin slot ! it's really hard to put coins consistently !

can you enter full screen on the web build?

Developer

Yes, Open Pause menu with ESC and click on the fullscreen toggle. Then use the button to resume. If you press ESC again it will get you out of the full screen on the web build.

Loved the retro atmosphere! It took me a little while to figure out how to make the first call, but turning the dial felt really satisfying. Great!
