That intro had me sooo keen for the game to start - smashing work!
I was very confused when I got into the game though, not least because my inputs seemed to have no effect, and there was no animation or noise or anything.
I could see feedback when I was being hit, and creatures would eventually die, but I could only guess if I was having any effect on them at all.
I think you have amazing aesthetic, but would have loved to see the basics get more love and care.
Good job overall though! This was really cool!
Thank you for the feedback, it's true that it's not entirely clear what's happening or what to do. Thank you so much for playing!!
The intro writing, voice over and art was really solid, but I was really confused by the gameplay. I get the basic structure of the rooms and upgrades vs hostile vs boss rooms, but I had no idea what if anything I was doing had any effect on the monsters
Yeah, there is a lot of feedback missing, but the gameplay is still happening. You can attack enemies with the arrow keys, and they light up when hit. Their health goes down with time, and as you hit them too. Thank you for playing!!
It looks incredibly cool, and with a nice story, but I didn't know when the enemies would die.
Thank you!! Yes, a visible enemy healthbar is definitely a next step. Their health goes down with time, and when you land a hit on them too.
Whole game's aesthetic fit really well with the keyboard only control scheme. Evoked a dope late 90s pc game vibe.
Love the art direction especially, Models/textures/health meter super surreal and cool! Would love to see this fleshed out more in the future!
Thank you so much for your words!! We will continue to flesh it out!!
The character and environment designs were on point, I’d say the hitboxes are a bit unclear at times though. But WOW that opening cutscene is INSANELY GOOD, good work
Thank you so much!! You have no idea how much we tweaked the script until we felt it was right LOL
I really enjoyed the enemy designs, and found the bosses particularly enjoyable to face. Also thanks for the Linux build!
The enemies are hilarious and so funky-shaped. 3 out of 6 devs are on linux, so it only made sense. Thank you so much for playing!!
The general aesthetic is really nice! Presentation-wise is also solid. The gameplay was a bit lacking unfortunately. It wasn't clear how to attack or what to do really, and the UI could use a little work to feel a bit more cohesive and readable. But for such a short dead-line you guys have made a lot and that's something you should be really proud of.
You have a solid ground to work with, just need some bugfixing and a couple of polish-passes and you've got yourself a potentially great rogue-like!
Keep it up! :)
Thank you so much for the feedback!! Very motivating for all of the devs. :3
Immediately greeted with a stunning title screen wowww. I always have a soft spot for ps1 style, I really like the voice acting too. Although, I think the player should attack in the direction of the cursor, maybe that's just me though. Nice work :)
Thank you so much!!! Yes, the combat needs some polish for sure. We're working on it!!
I loved the intro and the aesthetic, its very clear you guy's have serious talent but the gameplay and conveyance was really off and rushed, I had no idea how to attack or what my purpose was. Scope and design are really hard things and its understandable, I think with an overhaul of the gameplay loop and adding better feeling combat, as well as a semblance of a tutorial, this game could be really something special. Good Job !!!
Thank you for your words!! I appreciate your observation, the controls and purpose of the game are not explicited, apart from a ticking timer. A tutorial could be fitted within the first room, and we're working on the combat feel and player expression!!
The intro was very cool, I think that this game would benefit from a tutorial, I didn't really know what I was doing the whole time.
It would be a good addition. Thank you!!
Very cool PS1 Vibes, I love the narrative and the voice acting! I think it needs to show more clearly when you’re shooting, but apart from that I could imagine a full version of this doing numbers on Steam!
Absolutely! Thank you so much for playing!!
The story and vibes of this game are immaculate! The intro was amazingly voice acted and looked super cool. I never figured out how to attack, and it seemed like the enemies just died after a while, but idk. Overall, really really great!
Omg, yes we wrote down the controls in the game site, but didn't even specify what for. WASD to move, and Arrows to attack!! so sorry it was that unclear lmao. Thank you so much for playing!!
Oh I see! That makes a lot of sense.
Very interesting art style and narrative. Took me a little while to figure out the controls. This game takes circle strafing the to next level hahaha
LMAO YES almost everyone who played it figured out the stupid micro-ing of the movement. Thank you for playing!!
LOVE the art of this! Had to play twice to see the intro one more time
I'm glad you enjoyed it!! that intro goes so hard. Thank you for playing!!
maybe a bit clunky but the vibes are absolutely imamculate, congrats
IMMACULATE VIBES thank you so much for that!!
Niva my beloved
0473-S my beloved
Nice work. The atmosphere is excellent. Love the intro cinematic and the creature models.
Thank you so much!! We had a blast exploring what we wanted to tell, even if it's not all obvious in the final game. I also grew attached to the bosses and big enemies, and we're planning to polish them by giving them animations and reworking some of their behavior. Thank you for playing!!
My pleasure. Looking forward to seeing what you guys cook up.
If you're looking for an immersive experience I can recommend you play Paraselina!! Thank you for playing
The intro and 2D art is amazingly good, but gameplay was a bit bland, the controls are not super intuitive.
I got to the machine room, but looked like a still lost.
Lmao yeah, in contrast to the brooding intro and setting, the gameplay is pretty fast paced and simple, you just spam attacks and micro-move to avoid getting attacked and losing time. Most likely the timer run out before you could complete the machine sequence, but alas, it had to be rushed to submit on time. Thanks for playing!!
Beautiful!
I did like the atmosphere and the intro was realy nice.
But gameplay wise it was a bit janky. Still enjoyed it!
Thank you!! yes, the enemies jerk around and there's missing feedback on some mechanics. Thanks for playing!
