This game is absolutely amazing! Awesome graphics and a very cool idea, I had a lot of fun with it. Great job!

This was great! The number of levels surprised me - I particularly liked the one where you had to return to the start while possessing the fireball-shooting soul to complete it. The difficulty balance is a bit off, though… the two levels directly after that one, for instance, were so easy as to hardly be levels at all. I also never used the close-range possession, as it didn’t seem to work for me the first couple times I tried it; though, luckily, that didn’t seem to slow me down enough to matter. The game looks great, though I might turn the gamma up a little, as I had trouble seeing the ground sometimes. Great work overall!

This was a pretty good game, like, it didn't even feel like a jam entry! Extremely polished graphics, UI and audio design. The game is a wee bit hard, but I like it; I would love a quick restart button and gameplay modifiers if you plan on expanding it post-jam. Overall, really enjoyed the game!

Very cool and impressive for a jam game, polished art, sounds, music, and interface!  Unfortunately a few things hurt my enjoyment of the gameplay:  First and foremost, the time slowdown as it nears zero is *extremely* unpleasant; once the timer gets that low I'd rather just restart the level than try to continue or wait it out.  A button for instantly restarting the level would be nice, since a single jump or missed possession can immediately tank an attempt and it would be nice to seamlessly get back into the action.  I found trying to swap souls while jumping to be very fickle; I noticed a shortcut but couldn't seem to take advantage of it because I couldn't get it to swap (even after getting the cursor to indicate I could) near the apex of my jump.  Your body completely blocks the camera if you try to look nearly straight up, which I found to be an issue on the level introducing the hooks you can grapple to.  Lastly, I had trouble using the short range burst to swap, no matter where I stood in relation to the other soul; I think this was only an issue on 1 or 2 levels so I'm not really sure why it would work fine everywhere else.

Overall though, a very solid, polished jam entry!

Crazy for a game made for a jam! The artstyle is nice and I personally like it, the gameplay feels good, there's actual difficulty in some levels, there's audio, options, a reset button, level select, souls with different stats and abilities and even leaderboards! I'm pleasantly surprised by how well done this is, VERY solid game!

I think the only bug I found was ONE red soul inside the ground in a level (I think it's level 6).

Other than that, I just sort of wish there was a bit more light in some levels because the darkness can make some a biiit unclear (like level 8). And also from 8 onwards I noticed sometimes even though your cursor displays that purple-y color that suggests you can swap with the soul you are looking at, sometimes you actually can't due to collisions (not sure if it's intended). The last thing is just a nitpick but it feels like the final 2 levels are sort of just thrown there pretty quickly, but that's JUST because the level design is really nicely done everywhere else and taught and expanded on the mechanics nicely!

Developer(+2)

Thank you so much!

We haven't noticed the stuck soul in the ground yet but thank you for letting us know.
You're the first to point out the issue with the crosshair! We've noticed it too, and unfortunately there is a small bug that can make that reticle not so accurately represent that you can hit your target :(

Here you go, the level 6 soul in the ground!

Looks and sounds great, a ton of fun. Unfortunately crashed my computer and so I didn’t make it through, lol, but great entry; well done.

Developer(+1)

Oh no! This is the first we've heard of any crash. Glad you were able to enjoy it up until that point :)

Leaderboards, super polished main menu with cute little things like "DO NOT CLICK HERE" in the corner or clicking the logo in the main menu makes it do stuff. That is amazing for such a short jam.

Also level 5 "press space to skip if you're a nerd" LOL, great way to discourage players from skipping cutscenes.

The only criticism I have is text was very hard to read, I had to retry levels each time there was some text in the level, cause I would need to stand still right next to it.

Other than that cool game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! The leaderboards were a challenge to get implemented but very fun to do so, unfortunately the scroll broke so you can only see the top few runs in the jam build.

The hard to read text was something we really wanted to address but just couldn't solve this issue in time :(

remarkably impressive work!

Developer(+2)

From the bottom of our souls...Thank you!

This was excellent, I sort of forgot it was a game made in 96 hours. The vibe and ambience were excellent and the controls felt really good. I do agree with others about the timer, it felt a bit too intense towards the last second and most of the time I sort of knew whether I was going to make it or not! Super inventive.

Developer(+2)

We totally understand, last night I playing with friends for hours going back and forth taking the top rank spot in the leaderboards!
Thanks for trying us out, and thanks for the feedback :)

I played this after I saw it kinda butchered in a stream, this is SO GOOD! I would never probably shut up about this if I made it in only 4 days! I hope you keep working in your free time (I saw you have a main project to be published soon) because I think there's great potential!
The only thing I'm not a fan of is the slowing down at the end of the timer, I think it's a cool effect (I think the point was making more impacting and precise the last seconds before swapping?) but it gets annoying quite quickly, at a certain point I started resetting soon only to avoid dealing with it.

Great work with visuals and audio too! Everything is really really polished! Also fantastic take on the theme!

Submitted(+1)

Oh also the last level made me think it would be cool to expand it with nonlinear progressions (Like the cannons in Super Mario Bros. kinda?) with secret exits in some levels! I'd love to see your take on this game and your main one too, I'll make sure to follow you!

This is wonderful feedback! Our intention with the slowmo was to create those intense, nail biting moments, as well as to solidify the countdown theme as best we could! This has the added benefit of also allowing the player to get their precise aim in certain paths which we have scattered throughout some maps! Without that slowmo, those shots would be incredibly difficult! (maybe we are just bad at aiming lol)

There is some truth that the slowmo may be a bit too powerful, but future updates we plan to have a quick reset button which may alleviate the pain (having to pause and press restart every time is tiresome!)

Our map design was cutting it close at the deadline, we absolutely would love to explore creating memorable maps which even we as developers don't know what the best routes could be! Unfortunately there was just not enough time to fit that in.

you did a really good job! I love the color palette and visuals

Developer(+1)

We are a passionate small team. We took this game jam as an opportunity to take a break from our main project and have some fun! This artstyle was super fun to see develop over the 4 days!

Submitted(+3)

this is so polished!! i love the visuals and overall vibe, everything works rlly well together :)

Developer(+1)

Our souls are touched by your kindness!

omggg this is so fun
time trial platformers are probably my favorite subgenre of my favorite genre so i was bound to love it to begin with lol, and it helps that its also gorgeous. big fan of the crunchy artstyle

Developer(+2)

Your kind words have touched our soul!

Dude you gave us way too much credit when you created this masterpiece. If I had any complaint with this game it's that the camera sometimes made it impossible to see where i was targeting.

Great game! I definitely recommend anyone checking games out to give this one a play. At my time of playing I'm only the third one to complete the final level and submit a score.

Developer(+2)

Thank you so much! We put our souls into it! ;P

Never thought I would see a ghost race-esque kinda game, Loved it! The art and level design were awesome! :)

Developer(+2)

Haha we really wanted to make a game where you take control of other characters and also grappling hooks make everything better!
Our animation budget wasn't exactly there so we came up with this cute art direction! (Our VFX guy is awesome!)

Submitted(+3)

beautiful artstyle with solid gameplay!! the level design was especially good

Developer(+1)

Thank you! We were scrambling to get new maps near the end of the deadline!
Which was your favorite?

Submitted(+2)

This game jam keep surprising me with bangers out of nowhere! incredibly polish for a game jam game. the only  thing limiting me was my skill issues.

Developer(+1)

This touches our hearts to hear! We really put our souls into it!

Submitted(+2)

Really neat concept and nice visual audio feedback. Like many said I definitely struggled with the game (I'm also stuck playing on a laptop right now), and the difficulty increased fast.  but I see how this could be really fun for an experienced player and perhaps some difficulty curve balancing.

Developer(+2)

We keep seeing this feedback. Maybe we shouldn't have locked the levels to allow you all to see the full game easily.

Submitted (1 edit) (+2)

Really cool conecpt, and when it was more my speed it was great but speeking from the prespective of an ultrakill P-ranker it got way too difficult at around stage 4, I powered through till stage 7 where I just wasn't built for that anymore.

Awesome Art, nice music, Good game but as for my experience... maybe skill issue maybe game issue, not sure

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! Maybe we shouldn't kept all levels unlocked.
