Neat take on going down and having the air go down too. And a lot less stressful than in Sonic. I feel like this could lend itself to a rhythm game too with the unique fishing catching gameplay!

Cool game! Interesting move with questions about caught fish :D

Nice work!

This game is delightfully creative; it's a very unique take on the theme! found it engaging, and challenging in an enjoyable way :)

I really liked exploring, seeing what new fish there were, and gaining the ability to survive and go farther and farther. Great job!

Would've loved to see this idea developed more. I loved the catching mechanic but could not remember anything about the fish i was catching so I couldn't get any of the upgrades. I'd be interested to see you both work on it further!

This idea is quite unique I haven't seem something like this done for the jam yet! The game is a but challenging but still quite fun! I love the art btw! Congrats on the submission its great!

unique sound track - a countdown mechanic that makes sense - and a unique soundtrack? This was a vibe. I played through 3 or 4 times. Could not for the life of me remember how many fish were there lmao

This was fun and creative! The main rhythm mechanic is something I haven’t seen before. Your art is nice and I liked all the different fish. If you want to expand on this, I bet you could make it into a full blown typing game! Then you would have the full keyboard to work with and could add even more fish. If I was a kid learning to type for the first time, I’d love a game like that.

Your tutorial screen is hilarious btw. Good work!

Surprisingly challenging to catch the larger fish! Really nicely made, with some lovely attention to detail like the movement of the water and the bouncy transitions between animations :)

Cool game! It took me a lot longer than I'd like to admit to catch some of the fish xD

Nice game! Here's a playtest @04:38:29

Developer(+2)

Thank you so much for sharing your playtest! You're so kind with your comments, and I appreciate them and will keep them in mind for when I update the game post-game jam!

I really like this for the theme lol. Gave me a real good chuckle. Its quite challenging I will say, and I think I ran into a bug where after death the camera kinda glitched out. But overall super fun take on the theme, would loveeeee to see more! Peak!

Dave the diver after his restaurant failed XD
I had fun playing this! My only suggestion would be a different UI for the quicktime events - I don't remember which button is S and which is D, I just rely on WASD muscle memory when playing games LOL

Developer(+2)

Lmao! And thank you :)) I really appreciate the feedback on the UI, you made a pretty fair point. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

game felt pretty fun to control, and i liked the music and i got a bit addicted.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I am glad to hear that it was addictive; even myself while testing, experienced that!

the oxygen tank is certainly a countdown, not sold on the counting fish part of the game, but the water controls handled very well and the diving game as a whole is on theme. be proud, this is a worthy submission.

Despite the lack of environment art, I really liked how the game looked! The fish and player sprites are really nice to look at, and there was a lot of subtle details that I really appreciated like the slight bounce when the player turns directions, the air bubbles, the wavy shader over the screen, text animations, etc. A proper environment definitely would have taken a lot of time, so I think it was very clever use of resources.

Also, the player movement felt perfect.

cute! i did not catch many fishes. but i did do a reasonable job of counting them. kinda fun to try to keep on top of both

Submitted(+2)

A bit hard, but nice concept. Really nice looking page pictures!

The visual of the water was a bit basic, a shading or someting could've made it look better.

Developer(+2)

Thank you for the feedback! I did low key tried to make a better shader, but with the short time, that was what I was able to land on. I will surely add it after the voting season!
