How does your game fit the theme?
You collect numbers to equal a total subtracted number, which then subtracts from the timer... so there is a timer counting down to when you lose, and you're counting down off the timer.

I drew everything, made the sfx, and programmed it. I'm using Smart.ttf font, which is a free font.

(Optional) What would you like to be called if GMTK features your game?

playing as a literal minus sign is a pretty clever way to handle the theme and that microsoft sam voice is a genuinely funny touch. it definitely makes you realize how much you need to brush up on basic math and the dashing feels a little weird since it doesn't just follow your mouse. fun little educational game!

Ohhh fun game to play but for sometime I think I need to learn Math again 😭

Very neat! Incredibly on theme in the best way. Felt like one of those games students would be begging to play in class. The right mix of thinking and work and just fun number-grabbing goodness.

Such a nice game. Very intriguing concept of implementing math in the gameplay. The way the game is rn is enough for little kids to learn simple arithmetics. Additionally, I also wanna menthion that in lots of games sound effects and music tends to be overlooked by devs, but this one is a whole other case - it's just hits the right spot. The Microsoft SAM sounds when announcing a number made me giggle 🤭

Very creative take on the theme, i like itt !

I really liked the concept of this game! It has one of the most creative takes on the theme I've seen so far! And the visual and audio polish makes this game very satisfying to play. It took me awhile to get a hang of the move and dash mechanic as I kept wanting to dash in the direction my mouse was facing instead of in the direction my wasd were controlling. I didn't have that trouble in the normal gamemode, but for some reason I really wanted the dash to follow the mouse lol! Really well done!

Developer

That’s interesting! I also wanted to dash in the direction of the mouse particularly in this game. But pretty much all other overhead games dash you in the direction you’re moving.
if I were to work on this any more I’d just add it as a setting.

Thanks for playing.

Really charming game, very fun and well designed. One of the more unique ideas I've played, well done!

The game is really polished and creative. This game actually interprets the jam in a very unique way. Kudos to your efforts.

Really creative Idea! I really struggled through out the game hahah. Well done :)

Developer

What did you struggle with?

Thanks for playing.

Oh sorry english is not my first lenguage so maybe I used the wronge word. I mean that I used my brain while moving the character. The game was easy to undertand in that way!

I need to learn the Maths again

Developer

Do you feel like this helped at all? hah
Or helped provide incentive to practice subtraction at least?

Submitted

It made me so confused how to do addition there are a large set of numbers and I had to select the only one and I failed that thing too lol

I really enjoyed SUBTRACTO numbers
Really cool idea!

I was dreading playing this cause I though it wouldnt be much fun, but my god was I wrong... Once I  started it just clicked! controls are buttery smooth, and Im sure the faith voice also really added a lot (idk if theres a better name for it).

Really well done, I really really liked your game!

Really fun! Loved switching between the two modes. Graphics and audio were great also. I think dashing was too op and I wished the game was a little longer or got more complex along the way. You could have division or multiplication introduced and all kinds of fun stuff.

Developer

Yeah an expansion to other operators would be a natural step. I should try to get a educational grant!

I've never thought that subtracting could be fun. Great idea and implementation.

This had my brain tickling, Wonderful Idea and game!

Hm... maybe I should go back to preschool after this game...

Really well made entry! The concept is simple yet falls perfectly into the category "easy to learn, hard to master" with the ability to dash and position your character with your mouse.

Keep up the good work!

I just realise, the character is literally a minus sign lol. Love how I can use both mouse and arrow keys for precise character control

Very proud to have passed the class! I love the simplicity, I love the theming. It's challenging and intuitive. Honestly would be a good way to practice your math skills.

Developer

Thanks for playing.

Yeah I think a multiple, divide, etc mode could be fun too

That was great! The most creative one I've seen so far, and it was fun. Someone else nearby asked if they could try, so it looks fun to the people nearby too!

Developer

haha great. I’m glad it caught the attention of someone. Thanks for playing.
