How does your game fit the theme?
The core experience revolves around an unstoppable DEFCON countdown that inevitably reaches Level 1, triggering a nuclear event. Players must race against this relentless timer, balancing base construction, intelligence gathering, and defense setup within a fixed window. The countdown creates mounting pressure - each level brings you closer to catastrophe, forcing tough choices between offense, defense, and reconnaissance. Time isn't just a mechanic; it's the enemy.

i wish we had direct control over units but its a pretty interesting game regardless and you did a good job with the music. i didn't really get the intelligence mechanic, but i like how it adds to the DEFCON idea and i'm gonna assume its pretty cool once you understand it. nice game!
Thanks for playing!
Yeah, direct control would be cool, but we had no time to implement it.
Intelligence is just an alternative mechanic for building reveal. Yet again had no time to make it interesting, so it's just chances to reveal a building/intercept enemy spy.
tbh i didn't really play any RTS games but i know someone who has and they helped me through how to play. A tuto would really be appreciated but the game was fun once you know what to do!
I would have loved to know what some units or buildings do before building them tho
but great job!
Thanks for playing!
fun experience! i'd really love a tutorial for players who haven't played an rts, but overall it's a really good idea for this jam
Fun game, really interesting take on the theme!
I'm new to game jams, I never even considered someone could make a full blown RTS haha. Took me quite a while to get a grasp on controls and I'm still a bit confused on some of the mechanics. But really awesome job and makes me want to figure it out more!
yeah, that was a stupid decision to make RTS, lol.
TBH, some mechanics are lowkey broken (but they work in their broken way I guess), because we had no time to fix them.
Thanks for playing!
The game has potential and is fun, but it is very confusing at the start. A little pop up that shows the controls would be great. But still, the game is cool, well done. :]
Thanks!
Brings some nostalgia for CnC'like games. I always have been bad at them...
I always thought that no one can physically be good at that type of games. You either bad at them like all of us or you are lying, haha
I think this game would have benefitted from a tutorial and it would be nice to have some more info (at least on how long the DEFCON stages will last), but otherwise I think it works well in its current form. The art is simple but gets the job done, audio is minimal but also matches the setting with that similar to the old DEFCON game, and the gameplay works out nicely with you having to find the enemy's location to break down their defenses and then target their command center.
Had no time for a tutorial, sadly. DEFCON stages intentionally have no visible timer (with the logic that you can't predict it irl, I guess and that make the game a bit more stressful at least in theory)
Thanks for the review!
Ngl this is a pretty ambitious project for a game jam 😄 Love the DEFCON countdown idea, it adds a lot of pressure. GG and GL with the ratings!🔥
Needs some serious balancing, and a proper tutorial, please. Good take on a meta-countdown approach, but feels quite raw.
yeah, I wish we had more time to balance it. We made too much stuff to balance it in 4 days with our gamedev experience (none), unfortunately.
This one feels ambitious for a jam entry. My first playthrough I just built all silos and tried to overwhelm them, but that'd didn't work great. Second playthrough I couldn't figure out how I unlocked silos so I just sat with 2 airbases for a while not sure what to do lol. Tough to tutorialize games w/ this much content, but even just clicking around and trying to get a sense of what the game could be was good fun. Nice job!
It's our first jam, so we've overestimated ourselves. Features had to be de-scoped real fast, haha.
Thanks for the review!
Ain't that the way it goes lol. Great job for a first jam, like I said I can see the vision and the execution is the hard part ;) Good stuff though I hope you do more jams in the future!
