Wow! Great gameplay loop, upgrades system and mechanics. Loved the audio sting that plays when you infect someone too. This really felt like an actual full-fledged game rather than a jam submission. Well done!

Nice job, really fun idea and fits the theme in a novel way. Lovely artwork and very polished. I kept getting left with 2 guys in the room walking away from each other, maybe it comes up later in the game but it would be cool if you had some influence on the people to steer them where you wanted. Unless there was a puzzle element to the game and I just missed it, if so, oops.

Developer

It is a bit luck based on the random generation currently, and the biggest skill is deciding which host to jump to. But there is also a skill unlocked later on which allows you to steer the hosts a bit. But the game is made in a way where you are expected to lose games rather than just being able to complete every room on the first try. Its built more like an incremental, but I agree that the gameplay makes it feel a bit like you are expected to complete the levels since they have a clear win condition, rather than most incrementals which doesnt really have a win/lose feeling for each run.

Thanks for the feedback! :)

Right up my alley tbh!

Very fun and well polished. What engine did you use?

My only suggestion would be that once you’ve got the “Delayed Death” upgrade that you automatically jump to another infected (if in range) when you die. Or perhaps that could be a follow-up upgrade in the tree.

Developer

We used the Phaser game engine for this. Its a web-first game engine and its very quick to build with since there is no compilation step like in a lot of other more heavy engines, and you dont need to fiddle with web build settings etc.

Good suggestion regarding the Delayed Death automatic jump, I think thats a really cool idea! Thanks for the feedback! :)

Very, very good game. Great amount of detail, like when you click on an upgrade too many times without enough DNA and it plays different sounds. I like that. Great submission, good job.

Thank you so much!

The game is really GREAT! As soon as you infect someone, the music kicks and it’s AWESOME!
The concept is super cool, especially given the game jam theme. Thanks for the game, it’s fantastic!

Developer

Thank you! Yeah I wanted to ensure that it really feels impactful and the stress kicks in when you jump to a host and the actual game starts. Really glad to hear you liked it! :)

Are you kidding! This game is so good! I absolutely love the skill tree you implemented and the unique concept of infecting scientists! Although one thing is it really reminded me of the DVD screensaver! I would scream at the virus like NOO GO THIS DIRECTION!! But, I really loved the game, truly a polished and amazing game! :D

Developer

Hahah yeah it can be very frustrating when they are walking in the wrong direction :D And yes you are right, its kind of like the DVD screensaver, I didnt even think about that, but thats a nice throwback :) Thank you for playing and the nice feedback. Really happy to hear that you enjoyed it :)

Love the audio! The sfx and music combo felt really responsive and engaging as a player, matched the vibe of the game well. Overall, well executed idea, loved the skill trees!

well polished game with impressive visual effects. The upgrades are well-designed, however the random walking of NPCs could be annoying.

Developer

Yeah I agree, its very luck based since the moment is so random. Which maybe isn't what is expected from this kind of game. I added the Control node (under jump distance and then Reflex node) to give the player some more agency to try to correct it.

I was inspired by incremental games where you are expected to lose. But I agree that maybe it gives the impression of being more skill-based, when in fact its very bound by both upgrades and luck.

Thank you for your feedback :)

It is really fun! Such a polished game.

I enjoyed a lot, the game loop is good and have upgrade tree. It is a complete production game.

By the way nice interpretation of the theme.

Great job man!
