Dear lord the RNG go hates me.... took about five goes to beat level one XD
Otherwise really cool game and would be interested in a more developed version!
This was really really cool. I'm a big fan of these sorta games and the stylisation of the art is next level!! I also want to compliment the audio & the creativity of your idea.
I'd like to point out one minor issue I had which was that on the end of round screen, I couldn't find the 'continue' button for ages lol. It just blends into the background a little bit.
thanks for playing!
THAT BUTTON has been the bane of my life since I clicked submit on the jam haha - UI really was the dumped task over the 4 days, but I'm planning to do a month-long post-jam revamp and that is the very first thing on the list!
I love the art style and the game atmosphere! Unfortunately, having the core mechanic decided mostly by luck is a bummer when you get a bunch of bad rolls in a row, but it's a game jam entry after all. :) It's crazy how polished the game feels for 4 days of work.
I like the dithered art style. The banking mechanic is nice, but it's not enough to come back from rolling two 1s in a row. It feels like whether you pass or fail is almost completely determined by luck. I think it'd be cool if you get bonus money for reaching the goal number exactly without going over.
the aesthetic vibe of this game is so rad, and the gameplay is deceptively simple until you get that 1 that ruins the whole thing :')) also loved the art on the lil cards like the lil cat
Gorgeous presentation and a really addictive gameplay loop. The card designs and visual polish are excellent, and it genuinely feels like something I'd play outside of a game jam. Nice work!
This is so addicting, like Balatro with but with a dice slot machine. Love the palette, love the art, love the gameplay. Upgrades are fun and clever. Little hard to get going, a few unlucky 1s can be devastating haha. Would be cool to flip all 3 cards in the shop for a little more choice, and I felt I should get +1 coin for each left over attempt :)
I can easily see this ending up with a steam release, amazing job!
Super interesting concept! I remember a few years back GMTK did a Roll of the dice theme this would have killed at!
Love the aesthetics and RNG of the whole thing. Good stuff!
Really cool game, I wish there would be some way to prevent the sheer unluckiness of just rolling a lot of 1's in one round, but otherwise its crazy good and fun! You managed to get quite a lot of content in!
amazing game! the music is amazing!
help i cant stop gambling with my soul. the way my heart just leapt in my chest when i got 2 1's in a row.... also that 2x multiplier was life changing. the continue button was a little hard to find lol, extremely minor issue though.
This game is so addictive, once I figured out what was going on I was hooked. The art and music fit together so well, absolutely gorgeous game. I got so wealthy until my hubris got to me. Super impressive for only 4 days, really feels like a complete experience. Great work!!!
Very impressive gambling game!!! I liked the art style and the visuals a lot, the game is interesting and unique as well as extremely addictive and fun. I could feel the urge to keep playing because it is extremely satisfying.
great game! love the art!
Commenting to check your game later!
I love the artwork, and the music is amazing (takes me back to Diablo 2). The gameplay is really well-scoped for a jam.
This is a very interesting game concept and the art looks honestly amazing, though it can get overwhelming at some points. The only pain factors were that the UI was not always understandable, and since the game is so super up to luck, I got frustrated very quickly (though it made me want to retry a few times as well)
I really enjoyed the flow as I accumulated more and more points each roll, while also starting to feel the stress as I'm judging whether to bank. Especially on that last attempt! The aesthetic is delightful, the card theming is so cool and starting to get the exponential tally increase combos while facing dramatically higher tally opponents feels magical. Some concerns would be clarifying the UI (it took me like 5 mins to find that continue button + did I need exact tally or is overshooting OK), feeling more in control of the outcome using cards while improving the flow (when there's like 3 resets in a row which were completely out of my control), and allowing bosses change my strategy more directly (oh nooooo rolling odds is 1 less, not that I could control it anyways).
Thanks for playing and the review, glad you enjoyed it ^^ pretty much every issue here has been put on my radar, useful critique!
This game was a total vibe! I felt like I was dream state .. saw someone else compare to Balatro, and totally agree.
I wish I had more gold!
I really like the UI, and actually to me the font works beautifully. Finding the 2 and 5 inside the round list was almost like cracking a cryptographic key lol, I enjoyed that experience (maybe that wasn't the intended one)
Thanks for playing :)
Having the janky UI be a puzzle is a unique selling point haha!
This was such a nice and creative style, excellent excellent visual work and some great feedback as well (I LOVE the dice roll animation and the card designs, especially how the magician card is that pondering my orb meme). Some of the UI mostly just in the round end screen was just a little rough, maybe it's just my bad vision but I struggled to find the continue button the first time I played haha, but the game itself is very simple and fun and fits the theme quite well. Excellent work!!
I feel like gambling now...
Thanks for playing Daniel #2 ^^
Yah the UI is the big thing I knew would be rough when I hit submit, glad that's been the main thread cos I'm planning on changing it anyway haha
Gamble away, just get the low rolls out of your system in the game first, big brain
solid entry into this jam. i love the balatro vibes. great job!
Thanks for playing ^^ Balatro has taken hundreds of hours from my life, I'm taking some vibes from it in return lol
Love the vibe, the sound, and the graphic style. Great job!
Thanks for playing ^^ just need to find a colour palette that features octarine to really give the magical touch
Disc worlddddddd. It really did feel hypotonic and magical. Any tips on how you achieved that?
Honestly a lot of the vibe comes from the colour palette and music I would say! Having a slowly shifting bg helps, but really I just winged it!
