32 endings is insane, let alone 64 like you said is insane! I don't understand how you all did that in 4 days!
The flower mechanic is really cool and adds quite a bit of gameplay while perfectly tying into the story, i agree with another comment that the removal of the timer would be good so you aren't incentivized to just use all your retries to brute force your way to the choice you want.
Again i want to point out just how polished this game feels is insanely impressive!
Btw, now that Mark’s video is out we uploaded the full version with act 3 included. You can go play it now :D
A visual novel WITH a puzzle mechanic to make choices instead of just selecting dialogue options? 10/10 would stress out over petals again
Ingame descriptions for the gold and withered petals seem to be flipped :P
Fun game, gets a surprising amount of depth out of the core mechanic and narrative based games are always impressive as jam entries
Art and story is very cute, and the music is pretty chill. The flower picking mechanic is a neat idea, and it's animated pretty nicely too.
Unfortunately, I found actually playing it to be hard to understand. The descriptions for the special petals don't seem to fully explain what they actually do in practice, and it isn't entirely clear which option will get picked to start out with. I ended up just picking petals at random and retrying when I didn't get the result I wanted, rather than thinking about which petal would be the correct one to guarantee it. It makes it very annoying to see the results of different choices on repeat playthroughs, since it feels like I'm ultimately relying on chance alone for the result I want.
Edit: I suppose part of that might be intentional, but it just feels odd when you also mention the game having 32 endings. Feels like those two things kinda work against each other.
I guess it wasn't that bad, since I did enjoy the game. Still, it was big damper on the experience.
So, I eventually figured out that the in-game hints for the dry petal and gold petal are flipped from how they actually work. The jam page has it right at least, but it still was confusing.
I do have another critique for the flower picking gameplay though, and that's the time limit. 30 seconds feels a bit too strict, and still encouraged trial-and-error even after figuring out how the special petals worked.
The game was definitely more enjoyable after realizing what I did wrong at least. Will come back to it once you release Act 3.
Thanks for the in depth reply! We just added an expanded tutorial to our page to negate a bit of the relaying on chance alone for those who want to control their fate a bit more… Though you were right in guessing that it was part of the intention to have players leave some of it to chance on their first few tries. Especially with the timer :P

Oh, sick.
Came here from your comment on our game! The petal mechanic is SUCH a clever twist on the theme. Also... 32 endings??? That's absolutely insane.
Great job!
Thanks so much for the kind comment!
And wait until you realize we had a whole 3rd act with 64 more endings that didn't make it because of a faulty build right at the end :P

Your character art is so beautiful. Really well done!
Super polished, creative and captivating. Just an all around an epic game! Well done!
very well polished and great use of the theme
What a sweet game, amazing art and music :)
Amazing game, very nice game mechanic concept for the theme. Love the art and sound.
Ahww absolutely gorgeous in every way! Art, mechanics, polish etc etc
Great stuff, incredible for a jam.
How cute is that <3
Absolutely lovely! Amazing artwork, cute story and great sound)
I bet he'll get to the next base in no time :D
Amazing game! I was enthralled by the story and was not ready for the puzzles to come up as fast as they did, so cute and wholesome! Amazing art and music and such a clever use of the theme!
Wow. Great concept, even better execution. Played through it at the start here:
super polished! art, sound, and writing are all really solid. game mechanic is cool too!
Cute game ! Really loved the sound design, it's neet and it makes the game very charming !
Amazing game. Nice take on the theme, and 32 endings! Wow!
Great Jam entry, played with my partner and made us giggle and chase choices. It was very polished!
Amazing game! I like the story, the art, sound design, overall a very solid and strong atmosphere. Story is simple, but written good, I actually worried about the characters. The petal counting mechanic is very creative and cool, right on the theme! I wish special petals were explained better though, X/V signs is not enough for me, especially when it's plucked so fast you don't have time to understand how it works. However the game is very well polished, all timings/animations were right on the spot. Great job!
