It’s a good game. Even though I didn't usually like genres where you have to pick so-called cards and throw them at the enemy, I gave this a try and enjoyed it. I’m not sure why—maybe it’s the artwork, or perhaps I’ve just started liking this genre—but there is one thing missing: music and sound effects. For instance, pressing the "Play" button reminds me of the start of a round in *Plants vs. Zombies*.
Thank you ! I am very happy to see that you enjoyed the game even thought it's not the type of game you usually play
Great job on the game design and balancing the difficulty scale. You were really able to create an amazing atmosphere that brings everything together as well.
Congrats on completing the jam!
Thank you for your comment ! We are very happy to see that you had fun ! Congrats on completing the jam too !
Amazing! I loved the different kind of spells and how you have to be always a few steps ahead in order to win. Also the difficulty curve was just perfect. The game itself and the atwork felt both extremely polished. Highest rating I’ve given so far. I managed to reach some kind of robot slug or something like that, but I wasn’t able to beat him :( Splendid job!
Thank you ! We really had a lot of fun designing the game, and we really love how planning ahead and chaining all the attacks at the same time feels.
Very cool, makes me think of old school dungeon crawlers. The music is very atmospheric (tho for some reaosn it stutters if you switch tabs with it open). The art is great too. I really enjoyed the included tutorial, makes the game feel nicely polished.
Thank you ! Yeah we didn't have time to correctly debug our build, there are still some little bugs
Oops, I got killed by the robot monster. 😝
Great game! I enjoyed the turn-based battles, and the artwork and audio were very good.
It just needs a full-screen mode. The text in the left column is kind of hard to read.
Thank you for playing our game ! Yeah we did have some trouble with the history tab, we would have love to have more time to make it more readable
You deserve an additional +1 for a normal tutorial!
hahaha, thank you so much, we'll take it!
I really like the planning element of lining things up to all happen on the same turn for maximum synergy. I think maybe some of the times could be adjusted a bit and a way to gain tick either strictly or as a byproduct of another ability would have gone a long way. Great work though and the vibes are impeccable.
Thank you ! Yeah a way to directly get tick would have been nice, but also hard to balence out too. But it would have been very nice
The artwork is amazing for this
Thank you! NormalCanard did a crazy job on this, we're so happy to have him on our team!
I loved the art and atmosphere. The game was fun and felt really solid, especially for being made in such a short amount of time. Great work!
Thank you so much for trying our game out ^^ We had a lot of fun making it so we're glad that anyone can enjoy it!
This is awesome! First of all, the art is fantastic. I can't believe how quickly this was made. I don't typically play games like this, but I really enjoyed it. Having just one value to worry about that controlled everything is clever. I had fun planning combos and seeing what the enemies could do, but I ended up getting DESTROYED by the monster with the Toxic Smoke.
Nevermind I'm playing again and I actually made it to the boss. The Attack Order tab is so smart but I can also tell I'm about to lose haha.
Update: the time wizard hit me and put me at -3, but I didn't die. I also can't use any abilities so I'm going to assume that means I lost lol!
Great work and nice submission!!
Thx for the feedback :)
And about the bug where the game over screen doesn't show up when losing against the boss: we are already aware of it, the issue will be fixed when the jam voting period is over.
Yeah, we didn't see an issue on the final boss screen so dying just softlocks the game lol. Thanks for playing !
From the countdown base combat strategy games, this is the most unique for me in this game jam so far. I had to play it twice to save enough time on the first few combats to defeat the boss. The abilities and their UI explain everything clearly and you can even look into the history. Artwork and narrative is great.
Thank you for the compliments and I'm glad you had fun trying out our game ! We put extra care into making everything feel good and easily understandable so we're happy to see it bear fruit :)
Love how the game manages to roll everything together into that one clock at the centre - mana, health, attack order, the works. It's a really fun system to play around! A full release would be amazing if one is ever planned. Art, music, and UI design are all also very clean, no notes except for maybe including a number for health - hard to put the damage value information to use when you can only eyeball the effects on the health bar at the top. Other than that, great job!
Glad you enjoyed our game and thank you for the review nd kind compliments ^^
We did considered showing the healthbar numbers about midway through the jam, but decided against it. I was actually the one to advocate for showing the raw value, but was convinced otherwise. It was a hard decision to make.
We didn't want the maths to invade the gameplay too much and possibly hinder at the reawrding excitement of the guessing game. Pure optimization turns it into a plain math problem, estimating involves the temptation and risk for greed, tilting the decision toward more of a mind game rather than a puzzle with a set solution.
To still give the player something to still look forward to, we compromised with only indicating the damages directly in the healthbar. I do think we could've pushed that aspect of the game even further, but as said previously, this was implemented midway through the jam so we didn't have time for it.
Great use of the theme. Having to spend time as a currency while fighting was a cool mechanic. The art was really good and everything we well polished. Especially liked and appreciated the turn order display, helped a lot wit decision making. Great submission!
Thank you !
The gameplay is pretty straightforward but still a lot of fun ! Timing every delayed ability i could with inner peace and just witnessing the ginormous damage i dealt was really satisfying ^v^
I initially had a weird issue where all of the sound turned off when opening/closing the settings menu without touching the General Volume slider (only when first starting the game) but it went away after clicking on the sliders, i couldn't replicate it afterwards so it's probably a "me" issue though 🤔
The art gorgeous and the audio is satisfying, linking the spellcasting ressources with HP is a neat concept and the game ended up being a really nice short-and-sweet experience ^v^
Can't find any nitpicks about it, very good game ! Great job ^v^ ✨
It's a known bug yeah, we didn't have the time to figure out where it comes unfortunatly, and it seems to be hard to reproduce too.
Thank you for the review ! I am happy that the game was fun ! Stacking all attacks with inner peace is the best I agree !
Making your health and action points ticks on top of the turns ticking down really creates a good experience. I like the delay system to chain attacks together, especially on the "potion" enemy before the boss. Congratz!
His name is Greg hahaha, yeah he's very hard and you need to play well to beat him, gg for getting to the boss ! Thank you for your review
really cool! the abilities tool kit made for some really nice combos, i especially liked the defensive abilities with a cooldown they made for great planning ahead. also really liked the art style.
well done!
I would love it if you could check out my brother's game - https://aviv-youker-harel.itch.io/ask-the-flowers
Thanks !
I am sucker for dungeon crawlers, and one of the few games I will give more tries to beyond a rating, great job guys!
That's so cool, I am glad that our game makes you want to come back !
Awesome entry, loved all the art and writing! The gameplay was also pretty fun, there's some thing so satisfying about planning out a huge list of moves well in advance.
That's the best part of the game yeah ! Thank you for your review !
the art rules! loved the slime design haha. game loop was pretty decent and clever take on the theme.
The slime is soo goofy I love him, Thanks for the review !
This is incredibly cool
Thank you !
