How does your game fit the theme?
BITE CLUB fits the theme cause of the vampire fight club Count Drake started in his sister, Countess Darcy's room and the game mechanic where u have to click the buttons in descending order to attack and get back up when you're "downed"! A literal Count Downed. Mimic-ing the boxing countdown from 10 and how some fighters use the technique of counting in their head.

Please do not create fake accounts/ratings to boost your own game (or tell your friends to). Because of our rating queue requirement it means that if you create a new account to try to boost your own game you create a bunch of fake ratings that negatively impact other participants. If we see future issues with your account you may be permanently banned from jams.

Thanks

Developer

oh my gosh, we're so sorry, we urged many of our friends to play and support our game and they may have unintentionally done so, we'll definitely be more mindful in telling them how to go about it in future, deepest apologies

Developer

hello, thank you for the heads-up!

i just wanted to clarify that we haven’t created any alternate accounts to rate our own game, and we haven’t asked anyone else to do so either. we did share our game with some communities we’re in to invite people to play it, including people who might not be active in the itch.io scene, but we never encouraged anyone to create alternate accounts or manipulate ratings.

if there was something that looked suspicious from your end, we’d appreciate any guidance so that we can avoid unintentionally causing similar issues in the future. we want to make sure we’re following the jam rules.

thank you very much!

This is great. But i want to talk about a bug on my browser (idk if its my browser bugging or no), the game kept freezing on the first load of the game

Developer

thanks for checking out our game! and yeah, unfortunately there are some issues with the web build, we’ll be fixing those in the future!

Punch-out osu with a neat soundtrack and art! I loved playing this, would love to see more of it.

Developer

thank you so much for playing! punch-out and osu are our exact inspirations for bite club, so we’re glad you enjoyed it!

Loved the music and overall vibe! The art and character designs were really charming, and the rhythm mechanic was a fun take on the theme. The random bubbles were a little hard to follow sometimes, but I’d definitely play more of this.

Developer

thank you <3 we’ll be making improvements to the rhythm section feedback and signaling so that it’s not so difficult in the future, so thank you for your feedback!

amazing soundtrack !! i love a rhythm game and this was an awesome twist on that, as well as an awesome twist on the theme! the art style was amazing and all looks soo good for being made within the jam time. with some more time and polish on the idle animations and timing of some of the levels i could see an awesome larger release of this. the music and vibe were amazing, this was a sick submission !!

Developer

thanks so much <3 we’re glad you enjoyed our game!!

Sadly couldn’t play because I’m on a Mac and the web build was freezing on the title screen. This looks amazing and from the screenshot and page I’m very much feeling like I am missing out on this one.

Great job with your entry!

Developer(+1)

thanks so much for checking out our game anyways! we’re definitely gonna fix the web build issues in the future, and we’ll look into making a mac build too!

Awesome! I’m really looking forward to it

This was great, I loved this game so much! The story was really cute, the art was adorable, and the music selection was so hype! I would LOVE to see a story with these characters because even though there was barely any dialogue, I feel like their designs told me enough about these characters and what they were like. The only things that bugged me was I wasn't able to play the browser version, and the bubbles being random were sometimes hard to follow at times. I would reccomend was OSU does with lines that direct you to where the next bubble is. But I am really happy I stumbled into this game, y'all are amazing!

Developer(+1)

thank you for playing! yeah, the web build has some issues that we’ll definitely fix in the future. thanks a lot for your suggestion, we’ll definitely look into how to make the rhythm sections more readable!

A very creative entry! I really enjoyed the art style.

For the mechanics, I found it a little hard to understand exactly when the click should happen -- right when the ring closes ? I never quite got it right, and even though the health bar was generous, I ended up losing :D

By the way, for some, sad reason, I get a console error when I try to play in the browser (Chrome Version 150.0.7871.182 and Firefox 149.0.2). `WebGL.framework.js.br:2 EventNotFoundException: [FMOD] Event not found: {cd2b7f2f-7c44-4aae-a1de-1c50c31447ed}  at FMODUnity.RuntimeManager.CreateInstance (FMODUnity.EventReference eventReference) [0x00000] in <00000000000000000000000000000000>:0 `

Developer

thank you so much! and yeah, the web build has issue, we’re planning on fixing it and improving the rhythm section’s feedback visuals in the future!

Fun and creative! I really like this art style and drawing itself, very nice job!
(browser version did not want to run on ffox/chrome though there were no any error logs)

Developer

thank you so much! and yeah, the web build has some issues, we’re definitely fixing that in the future!

I like boxing games, and this one looks really good.

Developer

thank you for playing!

A good bit of fun! It was quite challenging and I lost right at the end but I still had a good time with it. Couldn't play with the web version so needed to download, the bat sounds are a bit overpowering too and it froze after I got KOed but otherwise I had a good time with it :)

Developer

thanks for playing! im glad you had fun with it hehe

Really good art and sound, actually reminds some flash games that i play 12 years ago. But timing too strict, especially for knockout. So hope it will be a little bit forgiving for player. GL!

Developer

hehe thank you! we’ll definitely be improving the beatmaps in the future!

Submitted(+1)

Neat idea to capture timing in a boxing match! It took a bit to figure out - and I missed the dodging commands at first and was confused why I was getting hit even when I executed the counts. The game is really tough right now, I really enjoy rhythm games and this was a bit of a struggle. That said there's a super cool game here and with a little work on difficulty and UI/feedback I think it could be a super cool full release!

Developer

thanks for playing! we’re definitely planning on continuing to improve the game in the future so thank you so much for your feedback!

Submitted(+1)

The game was really interesting ! The osu, old boxe arcade combo is really interesting, the music and art is really top tier for real that's lit !

Developer

thank you so much!! we’re so glad you enjoyed it

Submitted(+2)

Really neat concept :D Overall really fun, though I feel like the timings were very tight. Might have been better if the moving ring spawned larger, then the player would have more time to process and react to the distance

Developer

thank you for playing! we’re planning on making improvements in the future, so we’ll take your feedback in mind when we do!

Cute & fun game! The web player didn't work but the download worked great :) I like the character design & that you can revive. It is challenging but fun !!!

Developer(+2)

thank youuu!! that’s high praise from a god-tier dev

Submitted(+1)

Really fun and creative, with great art and music. The timing felt a bit too strict and the rings were sometimes hard to read, but I still enjoyed it a lot!

Developer

thanks for playing our game, im glad you enjoyed it!!

Submitted(+1)

Great art, was fun to play (even on a trackpad). The shrinking rings were in my opinion too slow, and were hard to sightread.

Developer

thanks!! and yea we really want to fix the rings and game feel once the rating period endsss

I think this was one of the best games in the jam I've played so far. I really enjoyed the combination of boxing game with rhythm game mechanics, and good picks for the music too! The art is really great for the various characters in their different poses, too. The 3D-aesthetic works for the background I think. I think I can manage 6 inputs, but with 8 I lost track, and was not able to complete the game after a few tries of getting back up.

A few issues though, even though everything else is so good; I wasn't able to click on the main menu buttons for starting the game, I tried with multiple browsers on my desktop and my laptop. But the windows version works just fine. I also sometimes was in a state where I could not dodge because my inputs were ignored. There was another issue where the numbers would quickly chain-reaction trigger as "missed" way too quickly when the indicator was not yet in the center.

But great job, what a nice game!

Developer(+1)

thank you so much! and yeah, the web build has issues,,, thanks a lot for the feedback on the gameplay issues, we’ll definitely look into fixing them in the future!

Submitted(+1)

Absolute insane music and wonderful use of the theme in a super creative way! The only issue I really had was that I feel that the window for hitting is too tight, and that combined with having to hit every single count when fully taking someone down makes it frustratingly hard towards the end. But I love everything else about this!

Developer

thanks so much! and yeah, the rhythm section ended up more unforgiving than we expected (dev blindness strikes again…) we’re planning on improving the beatmaps and rhythm mechanics in the future!
