The story bit at the start did really well in setting up/ introducing the gameplay mechanics, it was easy to get an idea of what to expect and what to do. The rewinding/ moving mechanic is a clever idea, I was having some trouble with clicking/ moving to a falling piece despite the item being highlighted in a few of the level so it wasn't so smooth sailing (but then again that could be my skill issue also). Fun game.

thank you!! yeah the highlighting/clicking needs a bit of work. thanks for your time and feedback!

I liked the narrative! I found the gameplay to be a bit finicky but the mechanic was clever and worked with your narrative. Good font selection too!

Developer

the gameplay needs a bit of work for sure but THANK YOU FOR PLAYING!!

Omg loved the main mechanic, and that each level teaches you a particular use of it. Despite being short, its a perfect application of a cool mechanic on a puzzle game. By the end I felt like I´ve mastered the thing and i was ready for the next one. Congrats on your work!

Developer

THANK YOU SM!! this is the exact thing i was trying to evoke so hearing u say this was very gratifying <3

I really loved the creative idea of this game, but I had a harder time feeling like the mechanical implementation was satisfying; it particularly felt like getting the right pieces to be highlight-able at the right time was a bit finicky. Then again, I'm not the greatest at puzzle games, so take this feedback with a grain of salt! Storytelling was super sweet and funny, and I thought the sound choice was well done as well. Great work on this jam; I'm excited to see what you cook up in the future! :)

I think it could be my PC or browser, but I couldn't do anything on the first level, even after refreshing :((( Taking from what I see in the screenshots & the opening cutscene, it seems you've made a really cool game in the short time you had!

Developer

OH NO what browser are you using? this is def a me problem i primarily use chrome

Brave. But it's just a Chrome rip really, so it should work ughhhh

Developer

oh man :( thanks for trying though hopefully post jam i can download brave and see what's up

love this game!! i could totally see this being a full steam game - the puzzle gameplay is sooo satisfying once you get the hang of it and i loooved the storytelling with its bits of humor! i did get stuck on one of the levels for a while (i think the 4th or 5th? where the box is in front of the vent at the top) bc the vent wouldn't highlight, but that might be a me skill issue heehee. amazing work!!

THANK YOU KIMBURS I LOVE U AND UR GAME

Wow, incredible job! Congratulations on creating such a complete experience in a short amount of time. The humor in the opening dialogue was fantastic, and the tragic spirit won me over instantly. After a quick learning curve, the core gameplay loop really delivered. The difficulty curve felt balanced and rewarding, leading up to a brilliantly designed final puzzle I gen felt complete when I got the timing right! It’s an incredibly satisfying, well-crafted game. I would love to play a longer version, but given the time constraints, this was top-notch.

Developer

thanks for playing!!

That was great!  Wow!  Congratulations on making such a complete game in such a short amount of time.  The opening dialogue made me laugh and the poor sad spirit had my sympathy right away.  It took me a minute or two to figure out the gameplay, but once I got it, I had a very fun time.  Great level of challenge with each puzzle, and the escalation of difficulty felt natural.  The last puzzle was especially good and I let out an actual cheer when I finally got it timed just right.  Excellent, satisfying game.  I wish it was longer (but understand why it isn't!) .  Just the kind of thing I like.

Developer

this means so much to me!!! thank you for your time and kind words.

Review time~

Creativity

I think the idea of reversing time like this was quite nice, but I feel as if whilst there was a count down timer implemented it was perhaps a little out staged by the reversal time mechanic. I'd have maybe added a 8 minute count down timer for the whole game to add some time pressure.

Enjoyment

Overall I enjoyed the game. Whilst the controls were a little janky at times I wanted to keep playing to the end.

Narrative

I appreciate the effort that was put into the narrative, I understand the time pressure on trying to deliver something in a short period of time. Though your ambitions may have exceeded your means Psych! I still commend you for those efforts.

Artwork

The assets were very readable, they stood out from the background and allowed the player to understand where the ghost was at any given time. The fact that it was boxes and yoga balls was also quite funny.

Audio

Clear readable audio with decent background music. The game is short enough that it does not overstay its welcome. The game could have used a few more sounds, such as a transition sound for when you've finished a level, and an impact sound on boxes moving about.

Technical / UX / UI Observations

The controls were a little clunky, with time sometimes reversing, something functioning wierd with physics if I repeatedly reversed time to build up momentum. Sometimes reversing time didn't work. One time I ended up with two different ghosts for a level.

Concluding thoughts

10/10 yoga ball collection, would be yoga ball again.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR DETAILED FEEDBACK! let me respond

  • w regards to a single timer, this was actually the original idea! but then i was worried that people would give up if they had to go back to the beginning
  • def needs more sound and feedback generally
  • TWO DIFFERENT GHOSTS oh man my playtesters did not catch that i'll try to recreate it and fix it. also reversing time often doesn't work if it's been too long since the object moved bc it's going through the seconds of pause first

It's very hard to understand what to do and the controls are weird :D but the game is fun.

Developer
