Great little game! Loved the art, sound and the gameplay. Only suggestion would be to allow blocks to be rotated.

Excellent job -- well done!

Great success!

I don't think there's a huge amount more that I can say that hasn't already been said. The art is marvellous of course. Systems are interesting and work well together in the context of a bomb building type mini-game. I wont pile onto the tutorialisation as horse has already been flogged.

I couldn't see in the description, manual or other comments; but was I supposed to be able to rotate the bomb pieces? It looks like I should have been able to turn them and puzzle things together more neatly, but I couldn't find a keybind for it.

The interactable bell & parrot is a very nice touch, and the general characterisation of the customers coming into the shop was great.

All in all, a very polished, fun game. Thank you.

Thank you! No there was no block rotation. No time either for that.

Crazy to think this has been made in 4 days. Really fun game with creative ideas and everything is executed well. I had a BLAST (get it? bombs? yeah...) playing it. The artstyle is great and I'm amazed it's a game jam submission lol.
I had a bit of a problem with understanding the wire minigame at first. I thought the wires had to come out of the hole before connecting to something. Then I got a layout with only 1 hole and I realized it how it actually works. Minor problem and tbf it's probably just me being a little stupid and not able to follow instructions, rather than the games fault.

Developer

Thank you! Yeaaaah we didn't have the time to put all the textures in the wire minigame so it's not as clear as intended ^^'

My god, the artstyle is awesome. The little animations and dialogue add so much. Mario (mark) is getting a little violent though...

Anyway, a very enjoyable entry. I would have more to say, but it seems other people have already offered actionable and useful feedback. Just a fun, charming submission to kill the time with!

No AI was used in the making of this game.

And it shows! So much character in everything. You managed to make so much art and references to other franchise it’s very impressive. The gameplay is quite intense at the beginning, I had to replay a second time to understand properly every system since you’re limited in time when you learn! Since the game is so great already, here’s some nitpicky feedback :

I would suggest maybe a first character than ask for a super simple non-timed bomb to learn the mechanics properly. As someone that’s colorblind, I struggled with the wires section a lot, especially when there’s the green and yellow cable at the same time. The matching the colors was also tricky because I needed the manual opened on that page to do it. HOWEVER, the game has so much charm that it was a joy to go through anyway. And these issues are totally what I expect from games made in a jam. Amazing work to all the team, Easily top 5 for me right now!

Thanks, as the artist, that means a lot!

this game has a lot of charm but was quickly overwhelming with mechanics coming hard and fast. Normally I love a good inventory grid management system, but I was set with a power block in the lower right corner and timer/power blocks that wouldn't fit with it right away. The onboarding of the mechanics could use a slower method. The sprites and artwork was very charming and legally distinct!

Beautiful game! I really like the different customer designs. I had a hard time learning it because there was so much info at the same time, but it was fun when I learned it! Maybe spend a bit more time onboarding the player into each minigame while having them try out how the game works at the same time? I know that's a lot to ask for a jam entry tho, and the game was very good anyway! Great work :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the review! As the artist, I'm happy you liked it. Yes, I wish we had the time for a better tuto. I also don't like to have info dumps ^^'

Meow meow to you too mr bird. Very interesting idea, initially I was a touch confused as there was a lot of text and my instinct was to ignore it lol BUT I went back and read it after toying around and blowing myself up. Was fairly fun with the little puzzles to craft the perfect bomb, the artwork was lovely too and I loved all the little references! Seems well polished, nice work!

Yeeees someone finally noticed the parrot. Not even my team members addressed it, I was wondering if anyone would end up noticing it. As a reward, you get the origin story: when we were in VC, one of my friends (not in my team) jumped in and showed his parrots. One of my teammates reacted without delay with "meow meow" which made everyone's day. You are now the 4th person to understand this inside joke.

What an honour aha, parrots are super cool, glad to finally see them have the rep they deserve in a game! We had a team member who kept distracting us with his new kitten, we're lucky to have even made a game >.>

Very fun game! Quite overwhelming at first and I accidentally handicapped myself for a bit by not realising I could create new energy blocks xD but very fun and creative!!! well done

very cool! Haha the art is very good!

Your art is full of appeal

Not a big fan of big text walls for tutorials, feels really overwhelming, even after reading it all, the game felt kinda hard to grasp. After some time I finally got my way with it and its pretty fun and clever, lot’s of minigames making a whole, 5 stars for creativity for sure. The art is also amazing, aswell as SFX and music. Solid entry!

A fun and really creative puzzle game! I can see the vision for the mini-game but as others have said it was a lot all up front. I think I never ended up figuring out how to do the wires haha. It took me a quite a bit to realize you can populate and then remove power blocks which meant that I just straight up failed the puzzles. Honestly I was expecting to be able to rotate the pieces but then the challenge ended up being placing power blocks in the right places.

Maybe in the future for a complicated game like this, one of those automated "play for you" first levels that let you see how its supposed to go would be really helpful :)

The characters and art were a lot of fun! Especially the animations and the references were always getting me to come back for more. Other than that the music was nice (loved the big bass plucks) but maybe a bit short because I noticed the looping after a while. I thought it added a nice ambience to the whole game though.

Also I don't think I noticed any bugs so great job! A consistently fun experience throughout.

Developer

Thx for the review! Yeah, a bunch of the mechanics ended up cut or simplified from our original vision, like how you use the blocks, or a more integrated tutorial. So this feedback is not surprising. Glad you liked it and thx for the feedback!

Great game ! Love the narration and art. Gameplay is a little bit overwhelwing at first but it's pretty nice once you get the hang of it

Very fun after figuring stuff out. Felt like I was really making bombs on the spot. I really liked some of the cameos, and the art was really nice!

I hope you had a lot of fun making this game because you absolutely should have, and I'd love to see this become a full game!

A bit too complicated for me, loved the artwork!

Very good entry for the jam! ^^

This game is very fun and I love the interpretaion of the jam you gave to this game. The game feel is also very good. :3

I like the creation and calibration of the bomb but however, it's a bit unfortunate that you can place your energy blocks on your own, but that didnt really lowered my enjoyment of the game. The instructions were also a bit long so it's a bit annoying but it might be part of immersion.

The references were very fun.

Congratulations! :)

I was terrible at making bombs, but I still enjoyed being in this world!

Pretty fun! I like how the gameloop iterates between the different mini-games, and the character art and music are pretty charming. I also quite like the tutorial font choice, it's very readable.

Developer

Ah thanks, I originally made the font for my comic, now I use it everywhere.
