Really solid game I can see this blowing up in mobile also title visual is a killer
The turn-based movement combined with real-time obstacles that get faster as the game progresses is really chaotic, but that's what makes it fun. Somehow, I started moving faster along with the pacing of the obstacles, like it was a rhythm game (and then I actually fell into a crack).
Anyway, the game is fun! I'd definitely come back after the full release.
Thank you for your review and for playing Neverest! ^^
Neverest's team is very glad you enjoyed our game! It might feel like a rythm game because originally it was one... •-• However, this idea was discarded but the player's movements were kept because they felt good. :3
We're working on the full release that we'll try to launch as soon as possible, I hope I'll see you there. :)
Loved this! Super satisfying gameplay and loved the sound design too which added to that! Great work!
Really fun game. Simple mechanics that added up to something better than the sum of their parts. I appreciated that as you got higher, everything sped up and got more hectic, forcing you to think on your feet and play less optimally. The only super minor complaint I had was that it felt unfair for offscreen cannons below you to keep shooting up at you, and for their bullets to effectively never despawn - more than once I had to wait for snowballs from multiple screens below to pass once I finally reached a screen with no cannons. I thought the art was clear and cute, sound design was good as well. Really polished work, you guys did a tremendous job!

I really liked atmosphere and art style, and gameplay was a lot of fun. concept is fantastic. Great job, and I hope to see the full release soon!
Thank you a lot frot you review and for playing Neverest!!
I never would have imagined that CaptainGodot would ever play my game, we're so honored. :3
We're glad you enjoyed playing Neverest, we put a lot of efforts into the sound design and artwork to give the best experience possible ! We're also actually working on the full release. ^^
For what content is here, it's all extremely polished. Game feels good to control and responsive to actions, pixel art is very cute! I only wish this was an arcade game i could play at my local arcade!
I would recommend a bar on the left or right of the screen to tell players how far up the mountain they've made it. maybe milestones and different zones could be included?
The hard cut to death screen made me actually laugh out loud. Keep it up yall!
From the artstyle i expected a Celeste like game but you did a different twist on this one but this made it more unique, otherwise we would have made the exact same game. Pretty fun and challenging
fun idea! This reminds me of the deltarune chapter 4 climbing mechanic turned into a full game - could be fun to take inspiration from the charged jump mechanic used there. There was some great polish!
i liked the pacing and intensity! also everything feels very polished and cohesive: UI, audio, and graphics. nice job!
Love the idea and the execution, I like climbing games (Cairn, Peak) so I was happy to play a faster paced game jam version of the genre ! Congrats
A nice take on the jam theme! The pixel art is super cute and the UI is very slick! I think there is a bit of a delay between when you press a key and when they game actually reacts, which makes the movement feel a little off, but I was able to adjust to it pretty quickly! Also, the title is an excellent pun! Great work!
I think your first talking about the title 😭. Hope you enjoyed playing and glad to hear that you found the ui cute and slick ! The delay is cause by the player being moved by tweens and to move again you need to wait the previous move, we used fast curves in the start so you have to wait. Maybe in a future update we will add an input buffer. Huge thanks from the team, I will definitely tell the artists that you loved all of it !
this game is awsome, I love the art, the gameplay, just all of it really, its super cool and i would love to see it developed further
I really like this one. The game is SOO polished and the art is veryy good. However, (I mean its probably because Im using a crappy laptop), but the page doesnt load. I tried three times and managed to get trough the tutorial without it crashing, but I feel like this is more of my issue than the game's. Still. VERY well done
Nice visuals, only one issue i had is when u pick up an item its getting lagged or freezed for a moment.
cool concept! It's kind of hard to tell when you're one square in front of the river thing and have to jump, wish the squares beneath you were highlighted in some way but really cool! I really like the art style and the powerups!
I thoroughly enjoyed this! I thought the tutorial was the game itself and when it said 'tutorial ended' I was like 'okay?' and then 'oh that was actually easy this is actully hard'. If I had to pick on one thing it's that I would like key pressing to be more responsive - I found myself pressing keys faster than the game would let me. Overall great job!!
Thank you for your complete review and for playing Neverest! ^^
Neverest's team is glad you enjoyed our game and I liked your experience playing it. :)
The fact that the keys are not very responsive is because the movements were initially planned to be like in Cript of the Necrodancer but this idea was removed but the movements were kept. :3
Very well made. Simple, smooth and quite addictive, i liked the art and general concept, GG
Really nice idea and execution of it. The theme is well represented in this game :)!
