How does your game fit the theme?
The camera timer counts down, requiring the player to pose their face before the photo is taken. There is also a limited number of photos you are able to take, the number of which also counts down.

Haha, this is awesome! It's hilarious that we both ended up making such similar games. Now you've gotta check ours out too!

Absolutely incredible. Such a unique idea, and the artwork, music, and overall atmosphere fit the concept perfectly. I found it quite difficult to play with a keyboard, though. Maybe it’s much easier with a controller. It also made me laugh a lot!

pov my face after 4 days of programing 16h a day at gmtkjam

he is happy though

Absolutely insane. I played with controller but still had a lot of trouble, which I think is the idea. It had me laughing out loud. Great idea, with great execution.

Well done brother!!! What an absolute masterpiece of a gamejam entry!! Out of all the “Picture taking” games i’ve played this jam, this was clearly the best and not just that, it was probably among the top 3 or even 2 games i’ve played so far. I have no complains about the difficulty, it was well balanced and getting a high score was super satisfying

How could you even do all the animation on this game only 4 days this incrediable!!!

Submitted(+1)

That's such a refreshing idea! Loved it.

If you could, maybe, increase the timer or keep the controls displayed, it would be great

Oh, even better! How about, each time player gets one part right (like left eyebrow matches the mask, for eg.), the timer gain 1 or 2 seconds? That way player will be motivated to strategize, which part of face to work on first.

If you are planning on motivating the player to handle all the controls at once, then maybe just increase the time.

These are just suggestions, but even without them, your game stands out as a unique piece of game :)

@Benjamin Pillbrow, please do check my replay to your comment in my game. It would help a solo dev/designer like me a lot :)

It's like if qwop was played out in a fever dream. The controls are insane but very satisfying on those few attempts where it all lines up perfectly. Great audio design and the art and setting is top notch as well. The timer is very short but I think it works out since each attempt comes in quick succession. Nice work!

Very fun concept, I need more time for keyboard but very fun.

What a fun and original concept! The keyboard controls were unintuitive, but for me that only added to the chaos and hilarity of the game. I didn’t try to reach for a perfect score, just tried my best to keep up and play around. I find the concept of photographer taking these terrible pictures and thinking "Yeah, this'll do." very funny.

This was such a genius and original game! The visuals are very strong, and the mechanic itself is terrifying. If the controls were up during the gameplay, I think I would have more control bc i really couldn't remember the controls. But if that was your goal, then you got it! Such a strange and weird art game, but in the best of all ways. great job !!

Developer

Cheers! Appreciate the kind words! You can toggle to show the controls during gameplay by pressing the "Show Controls" button in the top right if that helps - but it's definitely a bit of a challenging control scheme that's for sure. Thanks for playing!!

First of all, I have to say that I thought the game was incredibly good. It walks a very fine line between originality and the grotesque, and I think that combination gives it a lot of personality.

Unfortunately, the game froze on several of my attempts while I was editing the faces. I couldn’t determine exactly what caused it or when it happened, since it occurred across multiple playthroughs, including once during the initial tutorial. That said, I completely understand that a game jam project can’t always be fully polished.

As a suggestion, I think it would help to have a little more time to edit the faces. The controls require a fair amount of precision, and with the current timer it can be difficult to react before time runs out. I understand that this sense of pressure is an intentional design choice, and I think it works well. Even so, giving the player a few extra seconds would likely preserve that feeling of urgency while allowing a bit more room to interact with the mechanic.

Great job, and congratulations on the game!

Seems like a fun game, but it didn't load, said the .pck file was missing. Tried to load 3 times and the same mistake happened. I think it's a problem with the web build. But not sure if I have to do something extra to run it as other games did not have this problem.

Ah that's strange! We haven't heard anyone else have that issue. What browser are you using?

Hmm, really not sure what it could be, since I’ve been testing it on Brave myself- will have a look after the project becomes unlocked. Thanks for bringing this to our awareness!!

Submitted(+1)

Could be internet related as I'm on vacation, and it's pretty slow here.

I'd post my grades but I need to save face

This is probably the best and most unsettling concept I've seen for this jam. Reminds me of both QWOP and Who's Lila?. Very impressive that this came together in four days!

Developer(+1)

You nailed the inspo! Those games were 100% what we drew from. Thanks for the kind words!!
