I tried to cover everything on the main page but you know how it is, there's always something important you forgot or some wording that isn't clear.

Feel free to ask any questions about the jam here!

Hello! This is my first year coming across this, and I didn’t quite get the rules about writing the module with a system- does it means if we are using a preexisting system, it should have a DND or equivalent version? If I wrote a module in Call of Cthulu 7 rules, does it means I also need to provide a DND version?
Thank you!

Host

We mean that the module can be written to work with any system you choose or be system agnostic. We would prefer D&D but that's not a requirement, so feel free to use CoC if you want!

(+1)

I see, thanks for the clarification!

Trying to visualize, when you say 4 A5 pages is that the equivalent of one sheet of paper folded in half and that's it?

Host(+4)

Yup, it’s a single 8.5x11 piece of paper folded, with content on both sides

Got it thanks so much!

Submitted(+2)

So it would be four "pages" right? I.e. like a pamphlet. Also trying to make sure I'm visualizing correctly here

Host(+1)

yup

Hi !

How do we join the jam as a team ?

Should only one person join the jam or does each member have to make an account to join ?

Host (1 edit) (+1)

This is a good question. I can look into how itch handles this in other jams, but right now I would suggest just having 1 person join and rep the team. Important to note that if you win a prize your team will have to figure out how you want to divide it up.

Submitted

Okay, thanks :)

Submitted(+1)

hello! is it alright if i use a system i made, or does it have to be one that's pre-established? ty!

Host

You can! Just keep in mind that if the module relies heavily on mechanics the judges aren't familiar with it could hurt your score because it'll be hard for us to determine how gameable the work is.

Submitted(+1)

good point - thank you!

How does one go about requesting a new title? The page says that we can, but not the best way to do so. (In principle I would like to work with what I've got, but that combination of words is a complete soup to me.)

(+1)

Just looked yours up and holy hell lol.

Host

You know, after a few hundred titles sometimes I get a little lost in the sauce. Yours is pretty soupy, I will consider an alternative and put it in the master list

Host(+2)

Done. New title is much simpler: Kith and Kindling

Any chance for me to get an alternative title?

Host

You sure? I think your title came out really good! I'll see if I have an alt to switch it out with, but I'd encourage you to consider using it.

I would prefer a different title if it's not too much trouble. I saw it last night and after sleeping on it and thinking about it this morning, it just doesn't speak to me.

Host

I'm going to give you an alt, but you're stuck with that (should be featured in the master list)

That's something I can work with, thank you!

Submitted (1 edit)

There seems to be another adventure from a previous appendix N jam with the title "The Soul Jar"

Host

Oooooh I see what happened. Sorry I missed that. I'll get you a different one.

Host (1 edit)

replacement title: The Incandescent Horror. Should be updated on the master list too.

Submitted (1 edit)

Τhank you!

Can I change my title from Flickering Hope of Fusang? I looked it up and it's a place in Chinese mythology. Seems like a cool adventure location but I don't know enough about Chinese mythology to do it justice

Host(+2)

I would recommend checking out the mythology. It's fun to read up on and you may find some inspirational stuff you didn't expect! Alternatively, you can just ignore it and go a different direction, you're not going to be knocked points for that. There are high scoring examples of both from last year.

Thank you! I'm gonna think about it a bit

(+1)

Hello! Sorry I thought about it more and I haven’t changed my mind from my initial reaction. And ignoring the cultural origins of a word isn’t something I’d like to do

Host

Okay, I have changed out your title in the master list and I'm putting your original back in the bag for newer sign ups

My title is shared by an existing (non-TTRPG) product: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/43440957-a-confusion-of-crows . Not really an issue for me personally but wondering if there’s a desire to change this from an organizer (and other participant!) POV? Cool with either decision :).

Host(+2)

I'm not worried about it, I figured this would happen with a few titles.

Submitted (1 edit)

Would you mind providing me a new title? (if it won't count against me.) I've been working on it all day but can't figure out how to make "Climbing the Verdurous Realm" make sense.

Host(+1)

I would recommend you keep thinking on it. I mean, off the top of my head I could see that as a great point crawl up some kind of supernatural vertical forest.

Submitted (1 edit)

I would still appreciate another title, or even if “climbing” could be dropped.

Host

Yeah, let's just drop climbing but otherwise keep it as is

so I got “The Opal Griffin Rises” which I love but can I spell it griffon like Thor intended, instead?   The O can be an opal!

Host

sure, that doesn't change the essence of the title in any major way

Submitted

thank you!

Hello ! I got "Domocile of the Domovoy" as my title. Is it meant to say "domicile" or am I missing the meaning (english is not my first language) ?

Host

Oh it is, I just spelled it wrong lol. I'll fix that in the list.

Submitted

First, thanks for all the organizing work, I am sure coming up with all of these titles is a huge job, but I did notice that Magog (my title is Magog’s Mine) has some religious and historical associations, would there be any chance of getting an alternate title?

Host(+1)

Many of the titles do reference people/places from history or myth. It's totally cool if participants aren't comfortable with that though, I'll switch you out with another title and put your original one back in the pot.

Submitted(+1)

Hi,
I’m sorry to add another request to the pile or requests. I got “The Essence of Eblis” is there a chance I could trade out Eblis for another name or word?
After spending a few hours reading up on various Islamic interpretations , I doesn’t feel appropriate for me to pull a figure from a religion (as opposed to a myth) I don’t have a personal relationship to.

Host

You got it, new title on the list

Submitted

thank you!

Submitted

Hello, thank you for your hard work in organizing this jam. I've looked up some refs about the title I'm given, and I found out that it is related to a religion (Yoruba). I have put a lot of thoughts about this. I don't think I'm comfortable working with it, may I request another title?

Thank you in advance!

Host

Sure, title replaced in the doc

Submitted

Thank you!!

Submitted

Hey, Sorry to bother, but like some other creators, I researched my title and found that Barzakh has a religious association (Islam). As someone with no Islamic background, I'd be much more comfortable if I could swap that term with something else. Thank you.

Host

Sure, title updated

Submitted

Thank you!

Hello, may I get an alternative title? I'm not sure I could be culturally sensitive enough with the one I was given....

Host

I do not see you on the Master List, did you join with a different account?

Oh Sorry- was changing from Carbano Creek Press when the jam came up....

Host

Great, I found you. Yeah I'll swap you to another one now!

Submitted

Hi, first time, er, jammer, so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question. Do credits and copyright/licensing text count towards the page count? Or is it like a school paper, where it's four-pages-plus-citations?

Host

Good question! I think it would be fine if you separated them out from the module. Like having them on the itch page or a separate pdf that can be downloaded.

Submitted

Got it! Thanks for getting back to me on that

Submitted

Hey - where should I send the Judge copy? o:

Jam Judge

If it's free you can simply submit your adventure to the jam. If you're charging you can submit your adventure to the jam and then email some download keys to me, jorphdan@gmail.com and I'll distribute them!

You've got mail (from Germany) :3

Submitted

Hi there- I'm assuming if payment is optional then I don't need to create keys? Just want to clarify :

Host(+1)

Yeah you should be fine. If we end up needing anything we'll reach out, don't worry!

Submitted

10-4 good buddy! :D
