Really imaginative and nice to see some sci-fi in the mix.
I had my first mastering experience with Fading Suns so Alien+Religion hit a soft spot of my nerd heart. Very creative, perfect pitch work. I like this very much
The vibes, much like the miracle births from St. Habren’s cavity, are immaculate! lol. I really enjoyed the baroque, esoteric, medieval Catholic vibes from all of this. I was able to suss out all the mechanics pretty easily once I saw they were based on Mausritter, and instantly grokked it all without needing to download M+L. However, I will be doing so shortly, because there is some really cool stuff going on under the hood there, and I loved your double-meaning on the usage of “Nymph”. Fantastic job!
Really cool location. It definitely gets the Alien vibe with the Miracle of St Habren and the ticks plopping down (and I enjoy the fact that the nymphs are actually ticks!)
Amaze mix of religious motif and space. Great cover. Gameplay wise, not knowing the system makes things harder to evaluate.
If you'll pardon the pun, this is dripping with theme. I like the layout but would be nice to have a print-friendly version!
A printer friendly version of the pamphlet is probably not in the cards, but I have a mind to do an expanded version that will likely get along with ye olde office printer.
Ah crap, this is me not knowing anything about a game system. For what I can read and understand, this Colony/Religious place/Dungeon seems like a ideal adventure for 2-3 sessions (one shots are not real, just lies)
Very cool map. I love the layout and design. Great job!
Thanks! I made it by cludging together two icebergs and sculpting polygons over them.
Great adventure and use of the trifold layout! I've already read Mud + Lasers two weeks ago... perfect coincidence! My only concern is the vast yellow on the top left page...it's a bit much for my eyes. All the best for expanding your great game! I'm following eagerly!
Really interesting, imaginative writing. "◆ A miraculous healing spring lies at the root of the asteroid." may be one of the great rumors of all ages. I'm very intrigued by Mud + Lasers now!
I ranked this lower for gameability for the same reasons I love the writing--it's a VERY evocative and specific setting, but feels hard to play with because it's written in such a dense and interesting way. Gene Wolfe style!
This makes me want to check out more stuff you're working on, and I will!!
“Alright so the refectory has… 7 hermits in it, which means… 3 are hunchbacked, nice! Anyway they’re eating eggs from another dimension and twitching, what do you do?” Funny! You packed a ton of game into this pamphlet!
I love the page one art. I totally get the vibe you are going for here and I think you have accomplished it superbly. Also your language and word choice is excellent and really supports the setting. I like the Neso to N350. I am not familiar with Mud + Laser, so perhaps I'm not the best to give feedback here, but it seems like a cool system that I would enjoy from what I read.
In terms of visual design, I think everything is perfectly functional and clear, but for the purposes of the competition I think it could be developed further in terms of background, font choice, and maybe a more dynamic layout. There is a lot of content, which is fantastic and well done, but pushes it towards being a bit of a "wall of text". This might benefit from being edited down some to allow the highlights to stand out more. A picture of one of the "nymphs" would add a lot.
I think it's very clear how to run it. I would have no trouble picking this up and playing it at my table!
Great work!
Mud+Laser is my bespoke Mark of the Odd Star Wars-y game. It's mostly built on Mausritter, but has a decent dollop of my own twists and elaboration. It's PWYW here and on RPG Trader.
I loved the creativity here in interpreting "nymphs" as alien larvae: it was fun and unexpected. Very intense, well-constructed prose put a lot of complex ideas and a surprisingly rich setting together for such incredibly tight space constraints.
