Classically Hodag; killer style, all meat, no filler.

This is great. Love the way that the "Thaal" stat block was torn out of a monster manual, glued into our GM's notebook and notes added. Very fun.

This is hilarious and that last page kills me. Ook ook!

You have said more in one word than other people can express in a paragraph. I wanted so bad to come up with some witty comment on your entry. But I resign. This is too cool for me to top!

Developer

I cannot thank you hard enough for your kind words here!

Me, before reading this: Ooh, Hodag made one! Wait... Hodag made one? In a (friendly) competition I'm also in? Shit.
Me, after reading this: Nobody does it better or quite like Hodag. Always impressive and inspiring.

So full of swag and personality. In the best way possible, this is like something a kid would draw during class and show off to their mates after school in another kid's garage or wherever their hideout is at. Would love to hang out with that kid and the whole gang. Yowza indeed.

I mean, this is art. intricate with inimitable Hodag style that feels stream of consciousness. Meta-commentary that provides enough bones to be actually playable. As a relative newcomer to the TTRPG space, some of it goes over my head, including the likeness of the "gaming legend" that someone else mentioned, but I think the peek into the mind of a GM can be universally appreciated. Very cool.

Another visit to the comic shop.  Once again you made a totally unique entry.  I love it.  I spent some time look at the covers in the shop. So good.  Ook ook OOK!

"Escape to the Past" is a real one. It combines Hodag's always excellent art with a meta commentary on the hobby featuring the likeness of a certain prominent gaming legend.

The adventure itself focuses around the "Thaal" and takes place in a six room cave acting as their lair. It's rife with annotated game notes from a GM prepping for their next session, sussing out how to make the Thaal from some bestiary's stat block memorable and game-able. The notes in particular speak to me as a GM, looking like my own in every adventure and campaign I've ran for friends, including references to comics that only I would get.

While the Thaal stat block itself is very immediately useful to plug into games, the map is simple and without much guidance. It very much mimics dungeons from a certain era of gaming (complementary).

The art alone makes this entry a treat. Hodag's art elevates every project it touches.

It feels like "Escape to the Past" was specifically made for people like me in the hobby. I love it.

Wish I could hang with the Thaal, crack a cold one

A wonderful gift. Thank you.

Hell yeah Hodag!!!

Love the illustrations and the zine-vibe!
It's quite a challenge for a GM to turn the dungeon into something easily gameable – but I have an inkling that you are well aware of this, and that it's an artistic choice; and I can only respect that.

Love it, would read it again.

I have really liked the art in this one, and that the whole thing it's fully handrawn.
