I can just tell how much fun you had making this. Great stuff.

This is amazing. I love the setup and the artwork; the cover is especially brilliant. The car is such a great idea, I wish it was more prominent at the end there. If you ever come back to this it could be so cool to have the party vs the Knights of Rulf (or Beleth) in drag race through hell to reach the magic stone.

Genuinely, I had so many ideas reading through your entry, I would definitely run this for my group sometime!

This looks weirdly as what my mother used to think i was doing when i told her i was playing elfgame with my friends in my teen: steal cars, talk to felins, sign devil pact and dont be home for dinner. I guess this add to the entry charm?

Submitted

This is a fun module! The car needs more spotlight and more love, but the overall idea is great. Love the visual design and the writing.

I know me and the people I play with would do anything for the cat demon.

Anyways, great amount of charm and humor. Love to read it.

Such a fun and out-there adventure, and a very fun read.

What I thought worked well

  • The theme, tone and execution work super well. It's a cat and a car and interdimensions(?), but it all works.
  • I love the "bonus notes", makes it feel appropriately meta
  • A solid balance of random events for the travel and a final confrontation.
  • Cool way to pick sides

What I thought could be improved

  • I missed any car usage near the end, felt like it became a regular dungeon crawl, but maybe I missed something
  • A bit more on the car (stats? abilities?) could have been neat
  • Again maybe I missed it but it has everything except items which felt absent, even if just 1. Not a big deal though

Thanks so much for reading and for such considered feedback!

I've been kicking myself since submitting the adventure that I didn't include a sick-ass jump at the end to get onto the roof of the sanctum or something.

Great stuff, unapologetically gonzo, funny, but also well made and polished. Nailed it.

I am absolutely flabberghasted! To be honest: If I got that title, I would’ve just leave. But you took it and you not only embraced it and seemingly effordlessly combined it in a high fantasy hell delve, no, you also created a whole little community, interacting with each other, leaving so much room for the players to do everything right and everything wrong.

The car-stuff isn’t getting in the way; it’s just part of Beleth’s persona and domain. And the ensemble of NPCs is nicely connected. Reminds me more of the LucasArts and Sierra adventure games of old, going from screen to screen, looking for new interactions and puzzle solutions. The nice dungeon with the big fight at the end? Grandios!

Also: The Meta in the notes. Writing them in first person but still recommending the module on the first page? I actually laughed out. And that little handscribbled stat block for the main villain!

Thanks for this!

Thank you so much, this is such a kind and thoughtful review!

I did indeed walk away initially when I saw my assigned title, but ended up seeing a gnarly looking cat sleeping on my neighbour's car and it all sort of fell together.

Submitted

Thank God for that cat :)

This is extremely rad, like a fusion of Solomonic Grimoires and  a lost Cheech & Chong or  Bill & Ted film.

The layout is great, prose extremely solid and gonzo beyond my expectations. Absurdly fun, but there is some real nous behind this,  each encounter and location key is succinct but with enough juice for the GM to get running with it.

Excellent!

Party on dudes!

Amazing how you made this bonkers title work. I laughed a lot.

wild graphic sensibilities. Awesomely unhinged plot hooks. Love it.

Submitted(+1)

I love the graphics, they fit the overall vibe really well. This has a very cohesive feel all in all. Particularly fond of The Doubtful River.

Submitted(+1)

NGL, I’m an easy mark for this, you had me at the cover. Perfect. The work of a brilliant mind.

Wild

This is the one. Are most Into the Odd modules this strange?  Really may favorite so far. Just wild!  Excelent work!

Submitted(+1)

I love the idea that this is a classic module that has been modified. Super unique in every aspect.

this is a blast!! full of energy from the get. the wain art was a great choice. i like the light touch of real-world-thrift-store-find aesthetics - really elevates this. landing on DRIVE as the WIL replacement was kinda crazy, it actually fits well lmao. so much fun, easily gameable detail, especially in the encounter table. you brought the heat with this.

a few minor thoughts:

  • beleth seems like a really shitty road trip buddy. i think you should have made her shittier
  • would've liked a better consequence for failure on the DRIVE save in area 2. one of the few areas i think you could have gone Bigger here. as-is, i'd probably play that as having beleth get mad and pushy if you try the save again.
  • it's crazy to me that you leave the cat cultists driving a little car up to random chance!! give them all little cars dude come on. also, gut feeling, but 12 STR feels a touch high flavor-wise. i might have made that DEX instead, since they're cats lol
  • i was gonna say i respect your game for shouting out Astral Tourists, then saw that you made it. so, i still respect your game, but in a different way!
  • is there a reason the header text on Beleth's Sanctum isn't fully colored?

high: hard to pick between the cloud giant plagued by Protestant Work Ethic and the knight bluffing about being able to detect evil. they're character-full situations that spring right off the page and feel super easy to play.

low: this is splitting hairs, but i'm kiiinda against the sanctum dungeon. when i read this module, it's the road trip that compels me the most - smoking cigs, talking shit with Beleth, sitting on the hood joking about being "bone cursed", all those ideas grab me and pull me in. the setup with the sanctum being attacked is a fun situation, and there's a lot of good stuff there, but it doesn't feel like the star of the show to me. in the confines of the jam, i would've loved to see a much larger pointcrawl with a shrunken-down description of this fight at the end.

(really what i'm saying is that you should have both cakes and write an expanded edition after voting ends 😉)

in-between: you used "stats as Bear" so many times i thought for sure you were doing a bit, but the brotherhood of giants break that pattern. if you were doing a bit, i think you're a coward for not giving the giants bear stats too 😌

overall: this fucks. great work! 🚗

Developer(+1)

Hell yeah - thank you for such a thoughtful, fair review. Expanded edition will come with a just chilling by the side of the road table,  d66 cosmic billboards, and a much longer road.

(The header text thing was a mistake initially, but it felt like a fun production error that fit with what I was going for so I left it in)

Submitted(+1)

Came for the cover, stayed for the gonzo. One of my favorites of this jam :)

Submitted(+1)

Holy shit, I... don't think anything's going to ever top this in this jam for me. Everything from the start of the premise to the end was so effective and by the end of the Cosmic Road section I'd forgotten that it still had one more page and it felt like I forgot it was my birthday and I only remembered because someone surprised me with a Switch 2. I've never wanted to drive so bad in my life. Got many more things I want to say about this module but at this point I'm just rambling. Congratulations on such a delightful masterpiece. 6/5 across the board. Excuse me gtg proselytize to my friends about this.

Developer(+1)

This comment absolutely made my day. I don't know what to say other than thank you so much!

You absolute villain of a cat! YOU GET FULL SCORE ON ALL CATEGORIES because how in the hell did you keep on giving with only 3 pages of content!? Gonna run this shit and get back to you later!

Developer (1 edit)

Hell yeah! Thank you for the kind words - if you do run it let me know how it goes!
