cool game!! i like the visuals and music!! really cool platformer!
Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed it!
Wanted to get to this one after seeing it on livestream and now I finally have :D
This is good! It definitely has a few flaws, but once you get a run going you can get pretty into it. Considering the amount of store assets you used, I'm really surprised at how well all the visuals melded together. You could've told me they were all by the same artist/from the same pack and I'd have believed you. The audio's also all well done and befitting of the respective sounds/moments in game, nothing felt out of place. Those are two really good things to get right.
I have some issues with the overall gameplay. You pretty much need a run with the Q invincibility ability to get anywhere, and you need that on top of revive on death if you want to have a shot at the boss. The large blob enemies are simply too hard to deal with for how early on they are and how many of them there can be--you basically just die if you get a hallway with 3 and you don't have invincibility (or stunning lightning tbh) locked and loaded. There's definitely no upgrades that are totally useless, and there's a lot of credit to be given there, but whether or not you win is ultimately up to the luck of the draw. Bit frustrating also that you're able to move to the next room without collecting the upgrade, but ah well. On that note: the boss is way too hard. This could be a delta time issue (I had the same issue with the slasher ghosts, I do not recall them being that fast on the stream I watched, I have a 180hz monitor) but the boss is just constantly jumping to your position and you cannot dodge him. I promise you I tried. It completely comes down to whether or not you have enough health/revive on death to tank his constant damage output, and whether you have enough damage output to beat him quickly. I'm lucky to have gotten a run that won at all without grinding out the rest of the permanent upgrades (I only got +1 damage, I think for the length of the game the permaupgrades are a bit expensive)
But I can't say I didn't enjoy it! It feels great to play the moment you get a good ability, although you desperately need coyote timing on the character controller. It's completely cohesive, it all works together, I am very happy to have gotten around to it. Good job!
Thanks you so much for playing my game. I went and checked the code to see if frame rate affects speed and it turns out I accidently put the enemy movement in process rather than physics process (which always runs on 60fps) so it is true that your frame-rate affects speed (I will make sure to fix that after the game, thanks for the heads up). But as for the upgrades being expensive, they were honestly a last minute addition. The original game wasn't supposed to be played with them, so I made it fairly expensive so that you had to at least try one run with them before you could get another and as for the orb placements I definitely overlooked how easy it is to miss the orb so I will make sure to put them near the door so it's harder to miss after the jam. As for the boss, through my own playtesting I was able to beat the boss without Q invincibility but I think you weren't able to do that because of the boss speed. But either way Huge thanks for playing my game all the way through and I am truly glad you enjoyed it!
I wouldn’t doubt that the boss speed is the culprit for my troubles! Being able to dodge would've made all the difference haha
WOW! Great one. Nice music, perfect design, satisfying gameplay. I will definitely return to this game after the jam :)
Thanks for the support!
Great game, was fun ! Like the sprites, has a good style and nice animations ! The power ups make the game satisfying to play again as you get stronger. But I had a bug at the boss fight where I died, I got stuck on the black screen, it's the only issue I noticed, otherwise it was a fun game !
Yeah I found out abut that glitch but I wasn't able to fix it and it seems to only happen in the web version, but I'll make sure after the jam to make your progress save. But either way I am really glad you enjoyed it.
Really like the visuals, specially the tileset. Very well made.
Thanks, I mixed these 2 tilesets to make it, you can use them if you want.

Awesome game! It was super hard, but it was really fun and I couldn't help but keep playing to see if I could finally escape.
Thanks for playing. Glad you enjoyed it
I LOVE THE GAME!!!!
I like that there are more types of enemies the one that is big, the one with the purple portal, the one with claws
Could you plllllsssssss try my game too?
Glad you enjoyed my game, I'll make sure to check out yours soon.
nice game! gives hollow night vibes. i really like the combat but i really dont like the arm things that come out of portals above you. they're fine if they're alone, but paired with big guy enemies, its too difficult(i got cornered by a big guy and i couldnt get out until i killed it but both it and the hand guy were attacking me at once so i died)
Yeah they gave me a hard time when I was playtesting too.
That gong of death haunts me. Awesome style and good use of the sidequest!
Glad you liked it
Yeah, the game is well made
Thanks
Really cool game! My only complaint is that it was a bit too hard for me, but that’s probably just a skill issue on my part
Thanks for trying out my game, but you are right. The game is more difficult than I expected so I'll probably have to tone it down after the jam.
