How does your game fit the theme?
The game revolves around Voltaire's 1768 natural history treatise, "The Singularities of Nature". Some of the observations Voltaire makes in the game come from from the original text!
What Game Engine did you use to make this game?
A custom Flutter game engine I released 12 hours before the jam started. https://github.com/misha/ignis

Interesting take on the theme. I love the art, the music and the ants.
Me too, having to hear Voltaire ranting about everything is my favorite past time activity. and playing with bugs. Full star for the art!
Interesting take on the theme. I am slightly confused how the gameplay is directly related to it but i’ll let it slide lol.
I found the variety of gameplay a bit lacking (sorting is only for fun so long, so probably you just had 3 levels). BUT I LOVED THAT I COULD PICK UP ANTS.
Probably a difficult genre to do for a game jam, a little to the left-like.
Overall quite relaxing, though i could not figure out all the combinations on the last level :b
Ok WOW the animations and further drawings when you pull out the mushrooms!? the music!? the impeccable vibe?! absolutely incredible!!
Really impressive! It's beautiful, and with just a little bit of thought, you can figure out most of it. The only level I couldn't quite solve was the one with the ladybugs.
Probably need to turn up the volume!
oooooh
Its sooo cute.
Beautiful art and fun game! It reminds me of A Little to the Left which I really like!
The puzzle with the mouse was my favorite. Great experience overall
Beautiful art, interesting puzzles, and a unique take on the theme. Loved it!
I had a lot of fun with this, art + sound + mechanics are a huge plus for me. I got really stuck on the mushroom though.. wish there hints of each one somewhere to have a little more of an idea of what you're looking for. That's the only thing for me.
Thanks!
We did chose to not include hints for now to keep people guessing, especially for the harder solutions as there is always at least one more “obvious” one to get through each level. If you ever want to come back to it later though, here’s a couple hints for you one the mushroom level for each star:
Hope that helps :)
Always cool to see really different takes on a theme.
Beautiful art and great use of external sound resources!
Impressive demonstration of your Ignis game engine and sharing with the world! Looking forward to see more use of it and some tutorials. :D
I had to read up to understand the connection with the theme, and I ended up learning history. Thanks!
This is so cool, I really love how creative the theme pick of a book, and wow it delivered. I got all stars on all levels and well done!
Searching up in wikipedia, yeah you kinda get to see narratively on what Volitares thoughts would be in preformationism and his divine being angle. This really lands into the sorting game style, as observations made into pattern embodies this type of content.
For the actual game, it was nice. The only thing missing was a way to know if you are "close" to the goal, and I thought Voltaire's "hmm" was a clue? But realized after swapping it was random and had to trust my gut instinct.
(Solution Spoilers)
It's really cool, you really have to be observant, the noise of the beetles, the background equations for value, the type of stem from picking it up! It's really cool the game manages to squeeze as much aspects and observations, that made me go wow.
Also pet the mouse aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, so cwte.
Overall, its well-made, the art is nice, the experience is pleasant, and the puzzles were engaging. Thank you for submitting to the game jam!
I LOVE THIS GAME! Art is so satisying. (Great touch with the ants too)
I hope you tried dragging the ants!
Yess thats what I meant haha
Did you try moving clouds, or perhaps bringing a ladybug dangerously close to Voltaire’s face?
Omg I didnt! You have an impressive level of polish on this game ;-;
I liked this game a lot altought the music was lagging and pretty insufferable for me (glad we could mute it) i like the idea of sorting stuff and there was just enough content, thx
Sorry about the sound issues! I’m glad you were able to enjoy it regardless. If you have a moment, I would appreciate if you could post your OS/browser information so I can fix my code next time :-)
Sure thing i'm using windows 10 and opera GX as my brother, i'm on a laptop so my performance isn't the best but i don't think it should be an issue
Thanks!!
words can't describe how amazing this entry is I spent a long time playing it lol! I have to come back to get all stars I got 4/6 so fa
however I wonder...how long did this game take to make? the arts and music are very VERY high quality
Thank you so much! If you want any hints you can let us know which stars you’re missing haha
All the art was drawn during the jam period, the music and SFX we sourced from free asset packs!
Thank you for this aesthetic experience! I'm going to show it to my daughter. :D
One suggestion I have is - to include other channels of feedback besides audio. I got stuck with the mushrooms - I see in one of the gifs that the mouse reacts to the actions (an alternative way to give feedback) but in the session I played it did not. Not sure if that was a bug.
Good luck!
Thanks for playing! The mouse is actually part of the puzzle, not a general feedback mechanic. Have you tried offering her different mushrooms yet?
I hope your daughter enjoys it!
Oh! I didn't think about trying that... Then I tried all the mushrooms and it did not accept any... Hmmm...
