Shadow is playing your game on stream right now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5-uzr4zZV4

if you dont catch it live, the timestamp should be around 2h 54m into the video.

Achievement unlocked!

You did manage to keep the scope small enough to be interesting and to manage to complete it. Congratulations!

Good luck with your next project.

The story of this game : You are trapped inside a room. it is day 9 and the robot wants you perform some task. Do it and the end. Nice pixel art btw. Good luck for your game dev learning. Good progress.

Actually when you return to the diary you will see that the tasks have been completed and when you continue time moves forward to day 99. The first transition may not be noticeable but essentially you repeat the same actions and return to the diary again. The transition after that is more noticeable.

Good job for a first game. I don’t know much about narrative games, but I do know a lot about polish.

My advice would be to dynamically size text boxes or make multiple pages. Having to scroll feels weird in an otherwise keyboard based game.

For polish, just think of giving the player a sign everytime they cause something to happen in the game. Any state change (or rejected input) should be accompanied one by both sound and visual indicator that something happened or something you expected to happen didn’t.

I almost thought the game was over after day two was basically the same as day 1, so i only went back and played the rest after reading the comments here, which suggested there was more to the game. This is not your fault, really, just an expectation from someone saying it’s their first game, so i expected it to be small lol, and so when it looked like the game started over, i thought that was it. This is not going to be an issue in the future though, so don’t linger on that so much.

Put the controls in the description of the game!

In general, reward players with lore when they complete a challenge. That is how most narrative games work. You have some main gameplay loop which is not connected to the narrative, and by completing that loop, you progress in the story. Unless the story is really, really, really, really good, players first need to get invested in the game before they want to read a lot.

Hope this was helpful!

Thank you SQLPY!

It's a skill giving good feedback and a rare soul does so with attention. You did both and I can't thank you enough!

Reminds me of To the moon) Good story! I think it will be nice if the interactions will be visible, but i guess its ok for games like that. Like it!

For a first game this is amazingly done, like really super impressive

if anyone is wondering the binary text  (01010111 01000001 01001011 01000101 0101010101 01010000) translates to WAKE UP

you have a lot of potential and it's a cool aspect of the theme, cosmic horror

Thanks for the kind words.

I didn't think anyone would actually decipher the binary. Super cool that you took the time!

drew me in super hard! what a cool ass horror game, I love when games mess with stuff that wouldn't expect to go wrong like the font. great work!

Thanks for the kind words :)

This is extremely impressive for a first game. You’ve somehow pulled off a surreal, existential horror experience with nothing but some pixels and animated text.

Thanks Misha. Keeping it in my skill set meant I had to play with what I could build .Being basic movement and text.
