The dithering is crazy on here, super nicely done! Makes the environment super immersive when paired with the parallax bg. Love the music throughout, especially the track with the dancing dudes.

hey there! Thanks for the kind words! We hope to make the game 芦 real 禄 now, by working on interaction and expand the playable screens numbers / add the 芦 lore 禄 : B3TA voice acted parts and such. What would be ideal is to realize the full fledged micro puzzlevania that was originally planned but it would be a lot of work
Hi! :)
The art is absolutely stunning. The way you used dithering to get so much texture out of just two colors is seriously impressive. The music transitions and those dancing ghosts give it a perfect, dreamlike vibe! :D
The core stealth mechanics are really clever.
Theonly real "complaint" is that it ended right when I got the hang of it. I really wanted more levels to put my skills to the test! Overall, a fantastic first submission and a great foundation for a bigger game.
Wish you all the best and good luck!
Premise was very fun, I was following along with the art process on discord and was not disappointed by the look and feel of this game. The bit of visual snow is *chefs kiss* and the dancing ghosts are a fantastic touch. I did run into a bug where I could walk off the map by the house, and I found myself initially a bit confused when I found the earplugs and nothing happened (I did figure it out but I initially thought it was a bug before I remembered the house). Overall fun game with an excellent atmosphere.
I always get amazed by cool intros and animations, it immediately hooks me, wow. The jittery background is so so cool. I think the game has a lot of potential, especially with more content.
The visuals are epic (the floating lights, the background holy shit),and the audio is amazing. It took me a while to figure out I can double tap into running faster, but everything was very intuitive. I even think some extra keys worked (like z instead of e?) The extra polish is great.
Finally John Random got what he needed for years! some god damn good sleep!
The strongest parts of this game was the visual and music. Really good art, Vfxs and music, the real good stuff!
The gameplay section got it rough with a few bugs such as interactable items only working once unless you re-enter their interaction box or that you could walk through the guards even if it daytime (I think it might have to do with swapping between day/night getting reverse somehow). I also manage to walk of the edge of the world near Johns house!
I also noted that and there might've been more things planned initially (There were plans for abilities)?
That be the curse of game jams, we never seem to have enough time to add/finish everything we need.
Ye still did good! Good joj!
thanks a lot! Yeah the switches are very unsatisfying i agree, same with the guard (there is especially one thing happening with them that should definitely be changed).
the game was originally supposed to have open map and all for you to visit the party (that was supposed to happen in some kind of fancy house) and solve a lot of puzzles. Idk if that final build will happen but i could be cool, as the layout for it is mostly done, and the work is mostly making it happen and feeling good.
The visual style of this game is great, I really liked the music as well. Was a bit confusing at the beginning but once I understood what was going was fun. Great game!
I love the graphics in this game and the music transitions :) The ghosts dancing in the background are hilarious hehe. The gameplay is really simple, I enjoy story driven games so this wasn鈥檛 an exception. Good job here.
Gorgeous game! The visual style is really unique (and the fog machine / particles on the ground are beautiful), and I also love what you did with the music (especially the fade/transition as you hit floor 3!)
Not complaining since 10 days is a short time, but I was really wanting a few more levels/puzzles! Also I spent quite a while thinking floor 2 was impossible before realizing I could dash :P
Short but sweet, and I had fun beating it. Really nice work; kudos to the whole team :)
Really hard time understanding and once I did it wasn't the most fun game but man everything else is so special here, the vibes. music, the art style, the characters. This is great block to a bigger better game coming at some point.
The visuals in this game are really incredible. Amazing use of several different methods of dithering to achieve such a diverse amount of textures, colors, and depth while still staying within the bounds of just 2 colors. And the music, chef's kiss. Each track gave a totally different vibe to the game and felt very immersive. I do wish there was a little more with the gameplay. It felt like it ended right as it started. Another few levels using the stealth-like mechanic with the eyes, mixed with some kind of sequence puzzle with the levers, and you've got a really excellent game. Like knowing when to walk into the eye beams to time something, or the order to walk into them. Something like that if y'all decide to keep working on it. As I said before, the art and audio were amazing, no notes there. I think y'all did about as much as you can with the 2 color rule and explored its limitations to the fullest. Overall, excellent game. Y'all should be proud :)
The game looks soooo cool. I didn't really understand what was going on, but I figured out the mechanics and was able to complete it. Another level or two would have been great!
Love the art style and the overall vibe, the animation was good too. I was a bit loss at the beginning of the game, wasn't sure what to do, maybe some mechanics or indicator to guide the player would be nice. Keep up the good work :D
Really cool character design, the floating eyeball things were great. Took me a little bit to work out what to do - ended up walking off the left side of the screen on my first try haha, but I got there with the interact button. Very cool effects work as well, and loved the rave I kept starting.
An animation for the switches would have done a bit to help me click with the puzzle I think - and i'll echo the up/e thing.
But yeah great work!
The control and main menu page were kind of unreadable and I was confused at what the effect of pressing 'E' was. Good music and setting though, and was blown away by the static and mist effects, really showcased how much you can do with just two colors.
The game's movement is great, and I really liked the characters. The W and S keys should've been mapped to UI_up and down settings; that way, you can also use those on the main menu. I agree with the devs below to just combine up and e for interactions. Otherwise, cool entry and good work pulling it together for the jam.
huh, that is WAY more texture then i expected possible for two fucking colors, very instructional there, thank you. it kinda made the mode shifting a little hard to tell but i did complete your game, much to my surprise this feels like captain toads adventures crossed with a rave at an art gallery. that key to unlock level 3 was VERY unnoticeable and while you got 90% of the way there on a dialog less game that combined with no interact indicator for the portals like the door meant i was pressing random keys out of the politeness of my heart to try your game, thats in addition to the no thumbnail, no screens, no instructional text in the itch (you didn't even mention its for the jam, i dont think it matters here but some jams want you to tag the jam in addition to linking the submission page).
but hey, your art is REALLY standout, music was loud but the different tracks where distinct enough for me to recognize as state changes. so if you participate and in more jams and ship more games you'll build a really strong identity i think. a worthy first submission.
hello, thanks for the very in depth feedback!
I asked for the page yesterday and my assumption that you could not work on it during locked period was wrong so i will definitely do it.
Fine tuning day / night display is not on point yet. Music carried hard on it i agree. Same for the key it, should have been highlighted to stand out more, all these elements will be part of an eventual rework!
thanks again for the comment!
Nice effort here, especially for a first jam! Really digging the vibe ^-^
Things I loved:
- Amazing art + great use of screen dithering! I especially love the giant hand animation
- Clever interpretation of the theme! Solid mechanic that I was eager to see more uses for
- The music... and the dancing figures :D
Thing I'd love to see:
- I think you could've safely collapsed E and Up arrow into a single Interact (either button) for simplicity's sake
- A bit more audio/visual feedback on the switches would be nice
- I feel like 1 more level would do a lot here - I know there was some time crunch (understandable!) so not a criticism, but yea felt like I had just "got" the mechanic and then it suddenly ended! So would've loved 1 more slightly harder level that put the skill to the test!
Overall great job, well done team :)
hey!
Thanks for the amazing words!
A lot more was planned for mechanics and enemies that were cut. When we shifted towards the super simple version and i was hopeful i could build 2 screens after the tuto one, sadly time was too short and with stress i lost a bunch of the remaining hours breaking and repairing stuff, so only one sad screen remains.
the big lesson to me is to start building a bit earlier, and be more precise in interactions so implementation at the end goes better and smoother.
on the plus side, many in the team are motivated building the full envisionned project, and people who said they needed rest first did not say no either, so we are hopeful.
I like the visual style and music. Would be nice to get some background on the story, because the characters look really intriguing.
