I loved creating my robot ! Super fun and beautiful visuals. I love a good girly combat game. I did have fun, but i am so bad with my weapons. I think a tutorial area would have been amazing !
Good job!

soo fun everything works so good together and i loved how the sounds fits perfectly for the game, the clicks, ui, shoots, mecha sounds everything feels heavy big and tech

Such an impressive game, especially given that you made it in 10 days! We struggled to make it far but will definitely be coming back to this. Really amazing job!

Developer

Thank you for the kind praise! It is a lot tougher than I intended to make it, but I'm glad to hear you had fun!

This is so insanely impressive. It would be cool to have a target practice area too to get used to it. I'm pretty bad lol, but I really really enjoyed this. I could totally see this being on Steam or other platforms, you make really cool stuff. :)

Developer

Glad to hear you had fun! A test drive hall would be cool to have, yeah - some way to test weapons before you deploy, or something.  That might be something I look into doing as a post jam update.

Thank you for playing!

This was so fun- honestly just messing with my loadouts and trying different things was rly fun- i cant believe how much time i spent playing LOL

Developer

I'm glad to hear you had fun! I tried to encourage that with the design flow, and let people figure out how they wanted to tackle each problem and such. Having different loadouts letting you pick how you approach a task ahead of you, and finding your own playstyle, as well as visual style was a real fun part. Doing the two-part of dressing up your mech and then going out to fight in it was fun to juggle, and I'm glad it turned out well and you enjoyed it :)

Thank you for playing!

make more of this, i'm begging you.

what a fantastic game oh my goshhhh i love blasting lil mechs with my epic bnuy mecha

this would be so cool with multiplayer hahaha

Developer

I wonder if a co-op multiplayer could work, with a sort of helldivers style of action - deploying on a larger map as a group and carrying out a good few objectives. I'm glad the vibe landed for you.

Thank you for playing!

Fun little game!

This one right here is THE coolest. 11/10 complete gem.

The fallen mech mechanic is soooo damn cool. I wonder who'll bump into Antioch-II.
Those little blue buggers are nasty with how fast they rip up your shield.

I love those semi-online mechanics ala bloodstains in Dark Souls and the like.

also edit: I knew this one was gonna be peak the second i shot a guy's chassis off with the heartstopper and it's legs walked a few paces before blowing up.

Developer(+1)

Glad to hear you had fun! Thank you for playing!

Each enemy type has a different weapon similar to how you have a loadout - the blue guys' plasma weapons drop your shields quick but aren't as effective against your health for example, and the big purple ones have a railgun like yours that ignores shields. I tried to make it more tactical in how you can play.

The online mechanic was a real fun one to work on - I tried to make their difficulty also vary depending on how your run goes, for added bonus flair, but had to remove it for time as it wasn't consistently working. One thing I wanna do is add a way for players to view a "Hall of the Fallen" or smth that shows all the mechs that have been submitted before.

I spent a lot of time adding details like that, like the heavies' walking a bit before blowing up, or how the unshielded enemies are likelier to try and circle round cover and regroup.

Thank you for playing!

I really enjoyed building the mecha. The battle mode was fun, too! I like that it has an intro as well. I LOVE the whole game!

I want to play the game but when I try to open I get an error that says

WebAssembly streaming compilation failed! This can happen for example if "Content-Encoding" HTTP header is incorrectly enabled on the server for file Build/PACKAGE_ITCH_V6_FINAL.wasm.br, but the file is not pre-compressed on disk (or vice versa). Check the Network tab in browser Devtools to debug server header configuration.

do you have any thoughts on how to fix this?

Developer

Thats a weird one! It could be due to compression settings - though that error usually only happens due to web page setup issues.

What browser are you using?

I really enjoyed the meka building I LOVE character creators. I'm surprised at how many options it had I might have to try again with a different loadout to get a better high score as I only got 7th

Developer

I'm glad you had fun! I tried to add a ton of variety to really make things unique for people - and there's enough weapons for hopefully unique playstyles to form. This was a fun project to work on for sure, as I loved playing games like spore growing up, with full character creation being part of the flow.

Thank you for playing!

This was very cool! Plus the fact that you can run into other people's mechs is such a clever idea, well done!

Submitted(+1)

What do you mean there's a game AFTER the dressup??

No, seriously, I had to stop myself after five layers to go play some other entries. It's amazing. That Heartstopper ROCKS.

Developer

Thank you! It's a miracle I even managed to get it all made given I was working at the same time as this jam was running - but I'm happy with how it turned out.

Each weapon has it's own playstyle, so hopefully people gravitate to the ones they like most.

Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

astounds me that u made this for a jam. so goood

Developer

Thank you! I'm happy with how it turned out, though its def a lil rough in certain parts.

Submitted(+1)

Never thought I would actually like a mech combat so much! I love the dress up aspect and it's so fun spotting other players' mech out there. Would be really nice to see some visual feedback on the enemy health though, cuz I wasted way more bullets that I probably should. Great work anyway!

Developer

They're meant to flash when they take damage, but there might be some shader issues on the Web build that make this not always work :(

It's great to hear you enjoyed the game though! It was a ton of fun to work on.

Thank you for playing!

I did not expect the game to actually feature the mech combat, honestly the mech builder itself would've been great already! Very impressive work, well done. If I could make one wish it'd be some kind of rocket powered dodge or glide :D

Submitted(+1)

Oh and encountering other player's mechs is crazy scope for a game jam! Someone out there might encounter my bright pink GRILL GOD (c) design, good luck.

Developer(+1)

I considered a dodge or dash mechanic, but it caused some issues with level geometry the first time I tested it - so had to cut it for time.

I spent a lot of time on making the designer feel fun, as it's really more of a mech builder game with a test drive feature haha. I'm glad that worked out, and that you enjoyed the game.

The online component was crazy work, I had to write a whole system for that and it broke between the editor and Web builds numerous times. It's a miracle it even works haha.

Thank you for playing!

Needs multiplayer, it'd be so unbelievably good.

Developer

Multiplayer would definitely go hard - I could imagine co-op on larger map layouts would be really cool, or some team based gamemodes. Way out of scope for a jam game but could be cool.

Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Very cool how much options there are for customizing your mech! I have a big skill issue with the game but it was still enjoyable to play. Glad to have contributed to it though!

Developer

Thanks for playing! It's definitely one of those things where I tried to balance each weapon individually, so that they each have their own strengths and weaknesses, so finding the one that clicks for you'll be half the fun.
