How does your game fit the Theme?
The main mechanic of the game is fishing, which is bound to good timing and steady mouse handling. While the story progresses, you will regularly get distracted by the starry night sky, and you must try to connect specific stars to reveal a constellation.
The story itself is also connected to the theme, because one can associate a starry night sky with melancholy and nostalgia, being the core inspiration for the game's lore.

Anything else you'd like to share about your game or development process?
The game is inspired by a real-life story from one of our team mebers. We collected ideas up until the second day of the game jam and started development on the third. Initially, this "inspiration" wasn't planned, and appeared while the game came together piece by piece.
Each and every one of our team members contributed their best to the game, and it wouldn't have been the same result without them.

Wonderful game! Good intro, good graphics, good story… I too found myself stuck with the guitar problem, but this certainly doesn’t undermine the quality of this game! Good job!

Developer

Thank you for your comment! We are going to fix the guitar problem once the ratings end.

THIS GAME IS SO WHOLESOME AND BEAUTIFUL!🎣🌌

The fishing + father/son story + starry night combination works really well. The pixel art, animations, music, and overall cozy atmosphere made this feel way more polished than a typical jam game. ❤️

I especially loved the moments where you stop fishing and connect the stars into constellations — those parts felt really satisfying and fit the theme beautifully. ⭐

If you continue polishing it, I’d love to see the constellation mechanics brought into the gameplay a little more, maybe giving them small effects on fishing or adding more memorable activities with the father. That could make the connection between the story, fishing, and stargazing even stronger.

🏆 You can really feel the amount of love and effort the whole team put into this.

Congratulations on the jam submission, everyone! 🎉

And PLEASE, if you have some free time, play my game too and leave me a review! 🙏❤️ I’d genuinely love to hear what you think.

GG TEAM, you guys absolutely cooked! 🌙✨

Hey mate! 😄 Have you had a chance to try my game yet? Whenever you get some free time, I’d really appreciate your feedback and review! ❤️ It means a lot to me!

Think I hit a bug. I ended up stuck playing the guitar after Dad finished talking. Not sure if it was caused by me switching tabs every now and then to give my fan a break (the GPU was at 98-100% for the whole game) or if it was some other error. Don't feel like it was an intended ending.

Edit: Can't recall if I used the move keys. Is that how you stop playing guitar?

Developer(+1)

Sorry to hear you didn't get the chance to experience the best side of the game. You usually stop playing guitar by pressing [E] on your keyboard.

Submitted(+1)

Tried that, but it was not working. I'll have to try the game again later. Thanks!

Masterpiece !!

We absolutely LOVED this game! It is so polished for a 3 weekend jam, and we can tell that all the team members worked closely together. Did one of you guys get into UCLA Film School? If so, that's crazy impressive - congrats! This game had amazing vibes and music. The art-style is awesome, and we loved how cohesive it was. If you plan on continuing this game, we definitely recommend it! It has so much potential.

Developer

We am very happy to get such positive feedback from you! Our team really did put some very decent work and time into this game, and we are proud of its final outcome. Actually none of us is in UCLA, but we are flattered to get such a comparison! You can get an idea of who worked on which part of visuals in the ingame credits though...
We will definitely polish up and finish the game after the ratings close!

This game was very fun and relaxing, I really like the fishing aspect as well as drawing the constellations. The mc and his father fishing late at night/early morning and the constellations tying into it fits the theme well! I also enjoy the visuals mainly because I like pixel art games a lot lol. If you do plan on continue developing the game, I feel like there can be many additions to the story and mechanics such as different memories fishing with the father and using the fish you've caught to cook meals with him on the campfire and probably have different constellations have different effects on fishing.  Overall I really enjoyed the game!

Developer

I am glad you liked our game! Yeah, ideas like yours did cross our minds, but, you know, scoping things down is just part of a game jam. We will finish the game to an extent we are happy with and publish the full version after the ratings close. It might not cover that much more unique content, as polishing and expanding existing mechanics is our main focus for now. We appreciate the creative thoughts though, and we will consider those while finishing the game.

It was a good game with great art! It’s noticeable that you put a lot of time and effort into making everything. The story was good and emotional, and I really enjoyed the game where you have to find shapes in the stars ,that was really fun!

As for the fishing, I didn’t enjoy it as much, haha. I didn’t really see its connection to the theme. In my opinion If the whole activity had been about stars, like the dad and the son talking while looking at the stars, counting stars, etc., I think that would have fit the theme much better.

The UI was also very good, and I really liked the conversations between the dad and the son. The message that nothing is forever in this life was really meaningful.

Overall, a very good game! Great job!

Thank you for your honest feeedback! Comments like yours really help us get a broader variety and understanding of other people's perspectives, and we are happy to consider any suggestions for when we finalize the game to a fully finished state after the jam ends.

Very nice art! Most of the elements are animated, and the story is great. It’s a very relaxing game. Nice job!

The game is extremely polished for a jam (damn, it even has credits and playable guitar!). To some extent, that's probably thanks to the 7-person team, but huge props are due regardless :)

It has a very pleasant vibe. The music is awesome, and the pixel art is super charming. The story itself is also nicely written (ending was sad).

To be completely honest, I felt it lacked a slightly tighter connection to the theme. Camping is technically related, but the main fishing mechanic felt a bit disconnected to me.

....and just when I was about to stop playing, it turned out there was gameplay related to constellations after all.

If I were to change anything, I’d probably start by having the player search for constellations first and then go fishing. That would tie into the theme a bit faster and then just show cozy camping vibes. Also one small minus because it is maybe third game in this jam that has some sad story about family and stars so it kind repetitive, but overall the game is great and I’m just nitpicking a little :)

(+2)

Thank you for the feedback! Didn't realize it would be such a common trope in this jam lol, but yeah, that is a valid piece of criticism :)

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Still, it's a great game (one of the best in whole jam for sure), so I wouldn't worry about my nitpicking :D Great job!

Developer

Wow, thank you for taking your time and writing such constructive feedback! Criticism is always greatly appreciated. We will use it to improve and release the game in a 100% finished state after the game jam ends.

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, no problem. I will just add that if you take it further you probably can just ignore my comment about theme. Full game does not need to follow jam theme strictly. Camping vibes were strong with fishing and stuff :)

Developer(+1)

Well, you're probably right. Although this game was made for the jam, and after we complete it, development will shift to other projects and game jams. We're open to ideas though!

Submitted(+1)

We where not supposed to add credits👀?, but anyway good game bro,Actually

Developer

I've genuinely got no idea where you got that info from? I'm really curious what you will say in response about the source of this information. Also, you're like the only person to say something like that.

It would be against the spirit of a game jam to hide the members of our team. Not all of them have itch profiles to get added as contributors on the game's page. Still, in a matter of respect and appreciation, they deserve to get a rightful place in the credits.

Submitted(+1)

no think I'm you misunderstood, the dude you replied to was surprised or saw your addition of credits to you game as a amazing "feature" that you had time for, I saw it as a mandatory thing that's why I was surprised

Developer

Oh, that clarifies. Just make sure your messages are understandable, because the way that was written was very confusing.

LETS GOOOO THAT'S MY TEAMMMM!!!!!
