How does the game fit the theme?
You have to eat food from aliens, but can you trust them?
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
We forked this library for cutting food.

This was sick! Loved the cutting mechanic and the whole story/world lol. I'd like to be able to knock food off my plate when I know I don't want to eat it (maybe you can and I just didn't work it out)
A really fun game! The game jam theme is implemented very well, and the game has a great atmosphere. The music fits it perfectly and adds a lot to the overall experience.
dragging a cut through the pink wedge and watching it shatter into chunks so i could check the inside before right clicking to eat it is a genuinely new mechanic, and the eyepad telling you what the food should look like makes the paranoia earned. eat or starve but trust nothing is a great read of the theme, nice work
Liked the music, had a nice bop to it. And I must admit I got carried away with slicing things up. Was really well done, and the pressure of the hunger and then you rush and eat something bad is fun.
Similar idea to our game, but different game loop, cool! But I prefer to have a onboarding(or maybe just menu where I can safely investigate food description) to understand clearly how to prefer different types of food and may be I want to see any special devices to cock food to make it safe to eat. So anyway, that was cool and I like it!
Really cool idea and execution. The cutting feature is sick and the fact that there can be stuff just completely hidden inside made me even more paranoid and cut every food open.
Lovely game! Once I figured out the interiors of the food it was pretty straightforward to keep my hunger at 90+. I do wish there was a way to flip the flat food over quickly because it was hard to see inside it when cutting. I think adding levels where it gets progressively harder by adding more food types, sneakier poison, etc would be a neat touch if you wanted to expand the game. I didn't have any bugs or issues and overall I thought this game was super fun! Great job!
Really hard game to get a hang of but also quite fun and very creative. Theme was well met. Only criticism I have would be the amount of food, that drops on your plate, it was a bit overwhelming. But thats just tweaking numbers :)
this is such a creative game. i don't think i have ever played or even heard about a game about eating before.
also, the game loop is very satisfying (loved the crunchy sound effect that plays when you eat something). my high score was 3 minutes and 44 seconds (don't know if that's a lot)!
very cute artstyle too!
as others have already told you, maybe it would have been better to make it so that you can rotate around with your mouse, maybe doing something like what world of warcraft does, or what the sims does, where you have to press a key or button in order to be able to use your mouse to orbit around with the camera.
allowing you to rotate objects while dragging them with right click would've also been really cool.
but those are just quality of life improvements, the game itself is great. kudos!
Loved this one. I think that randomizing the "safe" foods on the eyepad every round could give this some more replayability ^^
Hmmm space donuts....
Good job It's a really nice game !
The cutting mechanic and difficulty curves are cutting edge (pun intended) tho it's a bit frustrating to play on web because the mouse keeps going outside of the of the screen (but heh just have to download it then)
The only thing I think was missing (tell me if I just can't read) but is there a way to rotate food items ? I often got fooled by a mold spot hiding under (that or I'm just bad at finding differences).
Great original idea. The controls to move around were sadly a bit of a hindrance for me personally but the core idea is really great. Maybe add a highscore-list so people are motivated to survive as long as possible :)
