How does the game fit the theme?
Apart from the conspiracy theory reference, gameplay consists of paranoia-filled action because the player is trying to fend off lethal drones while not harming real birds in the process.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?

Very fun game! I’ve enjoyed it a lot! I managed to open 4 chakras in my best run!

my jam favourite so far! consistent art. satisfying gameplay. simple enough to understand without a tutorial. minmal controls. I'm really trying hard to find something negative to say about this game but I can't :(

The graphics look good enough (some inconsistencies here and there, but for a game jam works)

The impact feels crunchy (like it should when flying with a monk and stomping on birds lmao), I especially like the slight camera movement combined with the sound and some particles.

The level up takes way too much for level 3 and above (I got to only level 5 at most after 15 minutes)

I also noticed the "government spies" section, nice way to put it :).

I liked the game. It was entertaining, well done!

Developer

Thanks so much! It was my first time making pixel art (the monk), so I'd welcome any constructive criticism regarding what the inconsistencies were.

I'm far from good at pixel art, but I could notice:

- the pixel sizes not being the same (example: hearts in the UI are scaled up a lot compared to let's say the monk and birds, also the clouds were too scaled up)

- inconsistency in outlines (this could be by design since you had gameplay reasons for it, but an outline for the monk (maybe) would've made everything fit together better, I might be wrong on this, but you should usually go for all sprites having outlines or no outlines at all, or mix them when you see fit [for example leave the background and environment with no outlines, but make all characters and Interactables have outlines, you should also check if they fit together])

- just one more thought on the outlines, they should almost always have the same pixel size across the game

- a consistent color palette could help a lot for future projects if you plan on making (or editing sprites you find online), try https://lospec.com/ for finding them, don't try to make your own yet

- watch this video by Juniper Dev if you want a more in depth explanation on how and why pixel art works

I also wanted to say that I really liked the bird dancing game you made a while ago, that's why I played this one too.

Wow there are levels to this. Thanks a lot for the tips. And I’m so glad you liked my duck game too that’s awesome!

That core gameplay loop is insanely addictive! The artwork strikes the perfect game jam balance: clean and simple, but polished and lovely in all the right places.

I was a bit curious about the mobile aspect ratio since the current control scheme doesn't scream "touchscreen" just yet, but this would genuinely be a blast to play on a phone.

Slap an online global leaderboard on this thing and you've basically got a ready-to-publish hit. Really fun work! :)

Developer

Thanks a lot I appreciate it! I actually just added support for mobile; I was thinking about it earlier. I never thought to add a leaderboard though...
