How does the game fit the theme?
You're playing as a priest rescuing prisoners from a cursed maze, except some of them aren't people anymore. They still look like it though, so you can't trust who you're saving.

You also mark the walls with chalk to find your way back out, and the maze changes your marks when you're not looking. So you can't really trust yourself either.

The only chalk it can't touch is sacred chalk, and you have to buy that and some other helpful items at the altar.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
NatureManufacture : PBR Graveyard (props, candles, environment)
HIVEMIND: Hallowed Depths (crypt architecture, candle assets)
Blink : Low Poly Characters (human models)
Creature_Monsters_X (monster models and animations)
AN Interactive Physical Door Pack (doors)
castle_assets_package
HorrorBundleSFX and assorted SFX/music

All assets are bought and owned from Unity asset store.

I really enjoyed this game! I love the artstyle and the atmosphere! I couldn't figure out how to use the chalk, but I did manage to find my way back eventually and still thought the game was very fun.

Impressive for 5 days, and i like the pixelated visuals.

Thank you! :)

This seems really really cool! In browser its extremely difficult to play since the game should be in full screen so you can see what you are holding, but the game needs you to use escape frequently which zooms you back out of fullscreen. Changing Esc to something else I think would be a huge boon to the games playability on browser. But still cool idea and great visuals!

Thank you for the feedback !

We just fixed it, now you can use Tab instead of Esc and the game runs on full screen :)

Really great vibe here. Almost reminds me of MYST or something like that. Nicely done!

Wow! Look at that art style!

I wish I had a base amount of money to start with but searching through the maze to find coins and materials before checking anyone was a great first phase without giving the phases a hard cutoff. I love the early 2000s style!

This game really pulled me into the ps1 era. very nostalgic, I had alot of fun playing it. The game feel and story is good. Amazing cutscene aswell. My only advice would be to polish it more and make things more understandable.. may be a minimap etc. Overall great work guys. <3

Oh this game was just good. Exploring the maze was definitely my fave. I became more of a hoarder here instead of looking for survivors haha. It's a fun experience. Good job!

Really cool game! I enjoyed playing it and managed to beat it all the way. One of the most enjoyable games I played in this jam so far.
It is pretty easy to get lost in the maze. I probably used too few chalk marks. I really liked the thematic shop using the altar to pray. I didn't quite get what the holy water is supposed to do. I threw it on a serpent expecting it to die but it didn't work. Also I played the windows build, because fullscreen in the browser didn't work for me somehow.

Developer

Thank you so much for investing the time in downloading and playing our game, we really appreciate it!

The Holy water just stuns the serpent for a few seconds giving you and the following humans a chance to escape haha (maybe we should have explained it better). But we saw you made it through. Good job!

We are really happy you liked it. Thank you.

WOW WOW WOW my favorite so far honestly. I just kept getting distracted analyzing the environment? How did you pull off that cool retro effect. Give me early PS1 vibes. Sounds match the atmosphere perfectly! Would appreciate if you rate mine too. Similar concept but different execution. https://weazel1.itch.io/lieght-the-way

Nice game, I particularly liked the graphics.

The first prisoner I freed gave me a fright when he started following me haha

Developer

Haha you can't trust them.

Thank you and I'm glad you liked it.

the maze rewriting your own chalk marks is a properly evil idea, and the candle lit psx look sells it. intro text runs a few screens long before you get control. strong vibe
