Great, well implemented and the fact you play on a nokia is just a cherry on top. The snake motif is just hilarious for me, like they just had to be there for it to be considered a game for that phone.

Developer

Thanks! Originally it was going to be a flag pole; during the jam I woke up in the middle of the night with the thought "it has to be snake"

A very creative and well-made game. I spent a long time having fun with it. If I were to add anything, it would be an "arcade" mode with a short campaign—something that would be ideal for a game jam—but otherwise, it's excellent.

Developer

Totally agree, an endless/arcade mode would be pretty nice

Great game! Spent a lot more time playing it than I planned to.

Everything is very well done - from the art to the gameplay. And the fact that it actually runs on a Nokia is amazing!

Submitted(+1)

Really cool game! Very well made and overall it's quite fun!

Also,.. Wow! You made it work on real hardware?! That's insane!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I have to admit, the hardware I ran it on has a much more powerful processor than the original 3310 - nothing I don't believe a little bit of optimization wouldn't fix though, haha

Really nice game. I had a little bit of troubbles placing the objects because I didn't notice the J key, which is my bad. I though that just by placing it there and starting it will be there. But other than that, really nice concept. Congrats

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, I also found myself having the same trouble... I would have liked to make that a smoother experience, or at least prevent starting a level if nothing was placed

Wow, your game is absolutely amazing, the physics alone are fantastic! 6/5!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I wrote the physics simulator and collision from scratch - the maths is actually a combination of these three techniques:

Not that I expect you to read them unless you're a big nerd like me, haha

Very impressive! I always enjoy a good pixelated physics puzzler. The story menu is a fun addition!

Great work!

Developer(+1)

Appreciate that, I spent an entire day doing the menus and I started wondering if it was worth it when there was so little time to get the whole game done, glad it worked out

Very high quality, well made puzzle game. I love that the snake comes out of the funnel to eat the ball, very fun detail

Developer(+1)

Thank you, the snake was one of those silly details that I spent about 6 hours getting right (crazy, I know...) but I think for the Nokia vibe it was worth it

Well, I love this. I think I got to 3-2 before I had to get back to work, but definitely want to play more. Awesome work.

Now I feel like learning how to get my game running on official hardware.

5/5

Developer(+1)

I love it! To be honest, I was originally only going to make it work on the hobbyist PCD screens, but then I found a pair of old 3310 and 3315 phones on marketplace and one thing led to another haha

Submitted(+1)

Wow, already a really solid and fun game but the fact that it runs on a real nokia as well as the authentic emulated nokia screen really elevates this. Super cool stuff!

Developer

Thanks! I do firmware development for my day job, so it was really fun combining that with making a game in this jam

Awesome game man! I love how it looks, feels, and the entire game feels really well done and just polished. Plus, the fact that this *actually* works on a Nokia or a Raspberry Pi is extremely rad. I loved the use of LCD ghosting to create a sense of movement.

I really don't have anything to add besides saying that it's just a fun and polished game lol. Great job!!!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks heaps! It was actually really helpful having the hardware on hand so I could tune the ghosting. I also thought of a number of ways to abuse ghosting - like flashing the screen to get "in-between" colors, except when I tried it on the hardware, there were these horrible artifacts caused by the screen's refresh rate, so I realized that I shouldn't try to be too clever with those tricks haha

Yooo, so cool with making it run on nokia, game is clean and fun too, great work.

Developer

Thanks mate, much appreciated!

Great job with the presentation and matching old school Nokia game vibes.  The difficulty is up there with this one.  Would have liked to have a fast-forward option to speed up the rounds.  But I'm probably just spoiled with all the QoL stuff that Peggle provides.  Again, fantastic job making me think I'm playing on the Nokia.

Developer(+1)

Thanks heaps - I wish I had thought of the fast forward feature during the jam - it would have saved me a heap of time testing and been easy to add as well - just run the simulator logic a few extra times per frame. I'll have to put this in the post jam version - thanks for the suggestion!
