How does the game fit the theme?
You can’t trust your own past. Each round, your previous actions return as shadows that can turn against you.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
I made the main arena, gameplay code, and core systems myself during the jam. I used third-party water shaders and a few VFX assets.

How many people worked on the game?

I was underwhelmed at first, but realizing the shadows were my inputs was a pretty cool twist.

Developer

Thank you so much! I’m really glad that twist clicked for you. That was the main idea behind the game, so it means a lot that you noticed it and enjoyed it. Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

Nice game prototype. Remind me of a bullet hell. I can only reach level 4. My dodge is not good enough. Love how the lighting works very well. The fire shooting is a little delayed though. Still a solid game. Nice job!

Developer

Thank you so much! Really glad you enjoyed the bullet-hell feel and the lighting! Getting to level 4 is pretty good haha. I’ll definitely look into the shooting delay and polish it more. Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

How in the heck did you make this. This is phenomenal in visuals. Everything else is good tho.

Developer

Thank you so much! I’m really happy you liked the visuals that much! I put a lot of effort into them, so this really means a lot. And I’m definitely checking out your game too!

It looks nice, but that is all, is some sort of archero prototype; feel incomplete and i can't hear any music/sound.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I’m glad you liked the visuals. I had music and SFX planned, but unfortunately ran out of time during the jam. I’ll definitely keep that in mind for future updates, and I’ll check out your game too!

Took me a few tries to realize that no effect meant, that you HAVE to have a bounce kill to win. I couldn't get any sound so not sure if it was my browser.  Being closer up would have been more challenging but it was nice to be able to see the whole arena.  I was eventually able to win.  It was pretty enjoyable game overall.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing and for the detailed feedback! Glad you eventually figured out the mechanic and enjoyed the game. The sound issue might be worth me checking too. I’ll definitely try your game as well!

Great concept. I was excited to try after reading the description. I've seen a similar idea before for a 3D game but combining the idea to a 2D bullet hell would've been cool.

What I would change:

  • The instructions could be clearer. "No effect" didn't really click when I read it. I didn't realize on that page that I was looking at a target to kill so there was no context for "No effect". Instead, just explain what is the target
  • In the bounce to kill instruction, the bounce is quite far away from the target. Keep it close but also a video/gif would've been better.
  • It would be better if there were more targets more spread out to force more bullets to appear.
  • It might be more of a puzzle game if the targets couldn't be pushed around. If the target gets spawned in an area that you had shot a lot at, that'd force you to go to a hotspot of bullets. Could've been more challenging that way.
  • Maybe if the target shot back at you and there were multiple targets as the rounds progressed, it could've made it more spicy
  • Some sound effects would help

What works:

  • Short and simple, the fast paced nature was easy to pick up
  • The fun for me comes with the bullet hell challenge of it. I see the vision. But definitely would push the envelope on incentivizing more bullets to happen (or force the player to shoot 3 bullets at once or something) while also figuring out a way to balance the dodging part.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback! I really appreciate you taking the time to explain everything. I especially like your ideas about forcing more bullets and making the targets harder to deal with — that’s pretty close to the direction I had in mind too.

I joined the jam quite late, so I couldn’t implement many of the ideas I had planned, including better instructions, SFX and more challenging rounds. I’ll definitely keep your suggestions in mind if I continue developing it. Really glad you could see the vision!

Once again thankyou sooo much for such detailed feedback:))

your own bullet coming back around to kill you is a great fit for the theme, makes every shot a decision. the little tutorial cards up front are a nice touch and the arena looks sharp.

Developer

Thank you so much! I’m really glad you liked how the bullet mechanic fits the theme. I wanted every shot to feel like a decision, so it means a lot that you noticed that. Really appreciate the kind words about the tutorial and arena too. Thanks for playing!

Pretty cool concept loved it.

Developer

Thank you so much! Really glad you liked the concept. Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

Cool idea! However, I feel like there was a lot of room left on the table for that idea to be explored. I see the vision, though.

Developer

Thank you so much! I definitely agree there was a lot more I could have explored. I had more ideas planned, but time was limited during the jam. I’m really glad you could see the vision though, and I’d love to develop the concept further in the future.

Overall Game Looks nice. Some suggestions needed to improve the gameplay into the theme point.

Developer

Thank you so much! The main idea behind our game was actually to make the player “Trust No One” — including themselves. Your past actions come back in the next round, so you have to be careful about what you do. I agree there’s definitely room to connect the gameplay even more strongly to the theme. Thanks for the feedback!

Whoooa, I really liked the game’s concept. Unfortunately, it’s still very easy to exploit this system at the moment, but I still really enjoyed it.

The only thing is, the trajectory of the projectiles is a bit unpredictable, but at least that makes it harder to exploit the game’s mechanics.

Developer

Thank you so much bud! I’m really glad you enjoyed the concept. And yeah, the projectile trajectory can be a bit unpredictable, but I’m actually happy it made the mechanic less easy to exploit. I definitely have some ideas to improve the system further. Thanks for playing and for the detailed feedback!

Very cool game ! a good soundtrack is all that is needed in the game (since idk why i didnt hear any bg audio) otherwise i find it very polish and smooth, great work mate !I'd love if you rate my game too !

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Really glad you liked the concept and the overall polish. And yeah, I really wanted to add a good soundtrack and SFX, but I ran out of time during the jam. I’ll definitely keep that in mind if I continue working on it. Thanks for playing!

this is a really creative idea and it was well put together and executed. Thanks for sharing. Are you going to continue this project?

Developer

Thank you so much! I’m really glad you liked the concept and how it turned out. I actually do have a few more ideas for it, so I’d definitely love to continue working on it when I get the chance. Thanks again for playing and for the kind words!

nice concept, i spam bullet in my first try and regret it immediately

Developer

Haha, that’s exactly what happened to a lot of players on their first try. Once you figure out the actual mechanic, it becomes much smoother. Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

Such a beautiful-looking game! The warm lighting gives it a really cozy feel, and the animations are incredibly smooth.

I really like how easy this was to just pick up and play. Also loved the overall aesthetic. Great job!

Really love this idea!! It's a simple little game, but the gameplay is really fun and engaging!

I think a countdown or some kind of indicator showing when the boss is about to die would be really helpful!

On my first try, I went all out attacking the boss in the first round... and immediately died in the second round XD
On my second try, I decided not to attack the boss at all, only to realize that you actually have to defeat the boss to progress to the next round TT

So in the end, I had no choice but to go all out on the boss again XD

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I’m really glad you enjoyed the idea and gameplay! The actual mechanic is a little different from simply attacking the boss directly, and once you figure it out, the rounds become much smoother. I’ve mentioned it in the instructions, but I probably could’ve made it clearer in-game.

I’d honestly love it if you could give it another try with that mechanic in mind and rate the game again. It would really mean a lot to me. Thanks again for playing and for the detailed feedback!

I gave it another try, and I finally figured out the mechanic!! XD

It was really challenging, but so much fun!! Once I understood how everything worked, I actually started wishing there were even more levels! Maybe there could be walls in the middle of the arena that bullets can bounce off, or some kind of bumper that makes bullets speed up when they hit it!

Really great game!! I enjoyed it so much more once I understood the mechanic! :D

Submitted

Really cool and innovative idea honestly, some moving objects in the level and maybe requiring the player to kill their past selves as well and this could be huge.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I really love those ideas.I’d definitely love to explore this more if I continue the game. Really appreciate the feedback!
those ideas where actually good ,loved your suggestion bud :))
