How does the game fit the theme?
You are in a dungeon and must make a decision to "Trust" or "Nope" various random encounters. There are a few criteria you will use to determine if you should trust the encounter or not. The boss must not be trusted at all... I really enjoyed making this and have a lot more ideas for this concept but may add them into a new project or into this game with an update if anyone is interested :) THANKS FOR PLAYING! and good luck everyone!

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Concept, Writing, Design and Development by Sinplea. Cover art by Sinplea with the use of the screenshot provided from Fellors free black knight asset, linked on the games page. The various enemy encounter art assets and backgrounds were all collected as free to use assets from the unity asset store, also linked on games page. The heart, Music and SFX were also from free sources listed on the games page! Code was written from scratch in C# using Visual Studio 2022 and I used Unity 2022 to put it at all together and build it! I am sorry this is so short, I had a lot more ideas I wanted to add but was not able to get them into the game.

Nice game, short but punchy!

It was kind of repetitive and easy also if you spam no you win the game with 2/3 lives short is good but this is maybe too short other than that Very nice art Very nice music And nice Idea!

Developer

the no trust was supposed to go with the theme kind of an easter egg. I wanted to spend more time on this with lot's of ideas I was sad to find out people wanted more haha, did not expect this. thanks for playing and nice words.

Fun game :) Short, but solid! Loved the music!

Short and sweet. As jam games should be :) The game loop was simple but I really had to remember the rules from the intro and apply them to each encounter, so for that you did a job well done on tackling the theme. The story and lore was well done. The art and animation was nice, would have liked more sfx (UI clicks, etc for better feedback), but overall, nice entry!

The art is really nicely done, audio is great, and the game fits the theme well! I also like the story and how it affects the gameplay!

I also noticed some things, though minor, that I think would help the overall experience if resolved: I would advise avoiding the use of mixels, as they can make the pixel art look a little disproportionate. I also wasn't really sure what exactly trusting a trustable person did, and what the consequences were of not trusting anyone, so perhaps some player feedback there would be nice!

Regardless a very nice game, enjoyed playing it, keep it up :D

thank you for the nice review, there is a lot I wanted to add and a lot of optimizing I wanted to do but I couldn't spend as much time as I was hoping. the next project should be much more optimized :) thanks for playing and the helpful review, very appreciated!!

Submitted(+1)

I kept the theme in mind and trusted no one. Turns out I was supposed to trust some of them. The theme was also not to be trusted QwQ

The pixel art and the audio were very fitting for the game. it was short and the gameplay was simple, a perfect fit for me XD. I love games with lore, I would love to play more of this if you ever choose to continue.

Developer(+1)

i am working on a new one/ might update this. thank you!!!!

Submitted(+1)

Nice pixel art and the music is also very fitting! And of course the gameplay fits right on theme. Great job!

Submitted(+1)

First of all, real good character design and animations! The audio also pretty over the top for that style and the theme fits perfectly. So it only comes down to actual fun gameplay, where just reading and decisions is not my taste of entertaining gameplay, but that's not your fault.

So, overall, pretty well done!

this is a nice review, I would agree the gameplay is very basic and certainly is not to everyone's taste. I did have more ideas to flesh out deciding who to trust, and a few minigames but was not able to get much else into this for the jam time that I had. thanks for playing and reviewing! :D

That is completely understandable. Have a nice one!

The visuals for the characters look really cool! It was a bit short, but I'd love to see it be expanded with more characters!
Good job for making that game :>

Wow, what a nice concept!

It was simple, short, and fun.
The character designs are also very cool
(tho I wish you doesn't say boss health in the boss stage that actually ruins the lie lol)

Good game. Hope to see more characters and levels in the future

Developer(+1)

oooh that is such a good idea, I have not heard yet. you are right lol no boss health would have been better and you have to not trust him without seeing his health.... thanks for that suggestion actually and thank you for playing! :D

Submitted(+1)

It fits the theme really well! I really loved the character animations, and figuring out who you can and can't trust was a lot of fun! I'd love to see more levels!! XD

Developer

thank you, I am working on a new project :) trying to make it better!

anim are so smooth, I like it! Pretty enjoy game, but short :(

Developer

im working on a new one now :( i know its too short. sorry

A great take on the theme and a really nice, well-scoped project. I like how the art came together very cohesively. Nice job!

Submitted(+1)

I love the art style and animation.

It's a nice, short game. The visual is simple but very cool. Great work :)

Pretty short and cool game! The theming is really nice and I like the papers please-like kinda style of the game. Though I feel like there' s not much incentive of trusting people, maybe the boss could be harder and the people could be allies when trusted (the correct ones)? The songs and sound effects are quite fitting and the graphics are pretty cool though it does need a bit more polish to make it much more awesome! Overall, this was a cool game but needs a bit of polish, but still, for a one person team, its quite impressive! Great work!

Developer(+1)

thank you. it was too short - and I should have spent the whole week on it but I didn't for a number of reasons.. There was a lot I do wish to have added, I did want to have people you trust to join you on the boss fight for example. I appreciate you playing and your kind review :)

Submitted(+1)

That's fair! But hey, there's always time after the jam to improve it further if you'd like!

Submitted(+1)

Pretty solid entry, I loved the overall setup and gameplay especially with the matching art style. Gameplay was easy to engage and still challenging enough.

Submitted

I had fun, but I didn't really see any reason to trust anyone.

Developer(+1)

that's the theme haha

Submitted(+1)

Shortest was refreshing: set up the problem, work out the logic, rinse and repeat. It works very well. Good use of assets; the game's look was consistent.

Well done.

Developer(+1)

I really appreciate your review :)

Submitted(+1)

Trust or Nope?  that’s a good question! 😅🙏 i like it good game

Developer(+1)

thanks!
