awesome beets
I agree, cats cannot be trusted. This is a fun bullet hell game where you create your own bullet hell to save yourself from a different bullet hell. As such, I wasn't able to progress too far in it, and I didn't like how slowly you could summon cats, but the gameplay loop otherwise is pretty engaging and it's quite satisfying to kill a bunch of rats at once to them use their corpses to summon a bigger cat. It's a shame the feeding system didn't work as planned judging by the description, but even without it the game is quite enjoyable. I also love the graphics and the designs of the rooms of the castle, they're pretty inspiring
thanks! most major systems were finalized just hours before submission, so there wasnt a whole lot of time to polish gameplay sadly, but given the time we had, im glad we got out what we could
im glad u enjoyed the room designs! the 4th floor (the church hall) was probably the toughest out of them all, i felt mean afterwards for making it so cramped, but too late now!
Really cute little summoner idea with a cosy Game Boy vibe. When I first tried it, I had that moment where I cast the ritual and nothing happened, and I thought the game was broken. Then it clicked that I had to wait, and suddenly the whole loop made sense. After that I was summoning cats left and right and the whole thing turned into a funny little bullet storm with tiny pixel chaos everywhere. The art style is great, the audio fits nicely, and the idea of using corpses as fuel is hilarious.
I did wish for a clearer indicator for the summoning timer and a proper reset when I died, because I ended up stuck with no way to restart. The cat regeneration also felt slow compared to how fast enemies pile up. But even with those rough edges, I had fun watching my cats explode the entire screen and sometimes explode me too. Good work from the dev. (pls play my game)
Cute game and an interesting idea! Might be good to have some sort of indicator for the summoning ritual, or a way to not spam it to avoid confusion. It would be nice to have some sort of reset / end game so that I can try again when I died!
ugh, i never even thought about a respawn system until after submission... wait no, the game was just made for pros!
I just gotta get better by playing it more!!
Cool game, tho having even a small text tutorial would be nice, first few tries I thought my game was bugged cause nothing was happening when I casted, then it came to me that maybe I had to wait. I really liked the audio tho, even tho I'm typically not a fan of pixel art this one looked kinda cozy.
The concept and the graphics are really interesting. The only thing I didn't like is the cat regeneration. I feel like it's too slow compared to the number of enemies that appear.
I love the idea of summoning cats with fish, and the Game Boy retro aesthetic is spot-on. Summoning with corpses makes it even more fun!
A few points of feedback:
Thanks for playing! I agree with the first three points, and I actually did have a system in mind to control cats by throwing food around, but I unfortunately barely made it to 6 hours til deadline before falling asleep. The main point I would have liked to implement was proper enemy behavior, but since this was my first time working with it I barely cobbled together what little exists in game. If we ever come back to make a full version the enemies will not phase through walls (hopefully).
