How does the game fit the theme?
The poor little mouse can't trust any of its surroundings. The rules change with each playthrough!
It shouldn't even trust its own aspirations. Or this laboratory. So basically... no one.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Everything is made from scratch.

How many people worked on the game?

Artist went absolutely crazy XD

Art is beautifully done, and there's so many art assets and animations too! I especially like the little walk animation of the mouse, he's such a goofy lil' guy. Music, and just overall audio was also really nicely done, and the game fits the theme well! Very creative concept too, puzzles were quite intricate and had a nice difficulty. Gameplay is very smooth aside from some minor hitbox wonkiness, other than that everything feels very polished!

Very very much enjoyed playing this one, definitely one of the most impressive games I've played this jam! Keep it up :D

also I did find you could clip out of bounds and into walls by dragging objects, which is quite funny I think XD
it also made it possible for me to get the cheese in this room early by just walking around everything

Thanks a lot for your feedback! Oh yes, we tried to make the little mouse funny and a bit goofy, and we're glad you enjoyed that.

Congratulations, you found the only good ending! Of course, it’s not exactly ideal that it’s possible to reach the cheese that way, thanks for pointing that out. But all things considered, given that there’s nothing good at the end of the maze... you found the only way to escape. Onward to freedom, little mouse! :D

This is such an awesome game! I love the puzzles and once it clicks, it clicks! I also appreciate the hint (which I lowkey didn't trust at the start xD). The illustrations of this game goes superr hard. Its insane how much art goes into this game! Though there were some minor issues with the characters being in front of stuff where they're not supposed to but its fairly minor! The gameplay is highly intuitive though the colliders needs a bit of fixing since at the start it felt a bit awkward (though this could just be a me thing xD). Audio was also amazing, I love how there's different musics on some of the sections and the sound effects are on point! Overall, this was a super polished and very well made game especially in a 1 week span! Awesome job!!!

OMG, thanks so much for your comment! I absolutely love your project, and it’s an honor to get a comment from you!

We’re so happy to hear you enjoyed the game, and that the puzzles actually made sense to you!
Our project definitely haы some issues with colliders and movement, but we are glad you managed to play anyway. A special thanks for noticing the music (which also means you managed to get out of at least the first zone, hoorayy!)

That was a fun brain teaser. I think having to go over the same world over and over again with different twists was very ambitious and cleverly done. The pun in the title RETCON and RATCON was also very clever. I didn't notice that the gates turned green to indicate they were safe so a bigger animation would've been helpful. I died a lot to those and was very confused haha I ended up sneaking by some red gates somehow. Maybe the collider box was off?

I also went back to retry to see if I could properly do it but it didn't reset the cheese after playing through it though it did reset the twists. So I managed to soft-lock myself in the ending area with no way to leave and nothing to interact with.

Anyways, nice work! The art style is very cute. More information give to the user would be helpful (like I was not aware LMB was an option until I got stuck and scrolled down; would be ideal if this was in the game but I understand the time constraints. Also had no idea there was a hint system LOL not smart enough to scroll down but persistent enough to figure things out). Minor issues with colliding with objects. Great puzzles and great puns :) rated!

Please consider giving my team's game a rating too if anyone on your team has time, thanks!

Thank you so much for such a detailed comment, we really appreciate it!

And HOORAY, someone noticed the wordplay, we’re so happy! Hearing that you beat the game on your own, without hints... Wow. That shows a lot of dedication and patience. Thank you for devoting so much time and attention to our project!

If we ever work on this further, we’ll definitely add a tutorial and polish the animations, so thanks for the feedback, its really helpful and we certainly will take it into account! The fact that you managed to pass through the red door is indeed most likely related to the colliders. Unfortunately, we ran out of time to fix this, and we hope it didn't spoil ypur experience too much.

P.S.: I personally really like your profile pic!!

The hand-drawn art is fantastic. I really like the contrast between the cute little lab mouse, the almost storybook-like props and environments, and all the rather nasty ways the game can kill you. It gives the whole thing a lot of personality.

The puzzles didn’t quite click with me, though. I often only understood what the game expected after I had already failed, and having to restart the whole level made that pretty frustrating. The WASD controls also felt a bit awkward, so I ended up using the hints quite a lot.

Still, the visual work is excellent, and that cute look mixed with cartoon gore is definitely memorable.

first of all let me start with the positive, I love how the game looks it's easily one of the best looking games that i played this jam! I also love the world it's a really interesting concept i like the dark implications and how it's presented it's awesome

Unfortunately I think the gameplay has some problems
I finished the game, but the game puzzles/progress not feel super intuitive, I shouldn't be compelled to check the hints often because I am not confident on what to do next when looking at the challenge I'm presented with. it felt like the game betrayed my trust often to the point where i could not get a good grasp on what was deadly and what isn't.

While the mechanics are explained somewhat it feels like some useful details are missing like some of the ways it can affect the environment.

Another thing was the amount of times I got stuck in walls or collision because i was pushed by the thing i was carrying. The hitboxes around a lot of the the objects feel off, sometimes the game is asking me to push objects in spots that makes  it very hard to even fit the object unless I place it just the right way and it makes me question if that's the intended solution. Other objects like the pizza feel like they have way too small of a hitbox, it's only the crust that even triggers buttons (tho that's more of a nitpick to be fair). Sometimes it feels like something I did should have worked the way I did it for example I thought just 1 match box would be more than enough to cross the water but I actually had to place 2 instead and cross in between.

The game has potential and I really enjoy the concept in itself it's dark and intriguing, but there is small rough spots that made the experience less enjoyable than I wished
