Description
A game where you walk around planets devoid of sunlight. Each track represents some unique area you'd find in such places.

The idea for the game would be something like Yume Nikki, a minimalist game purely about exploration.

While making this we had on our minds mostly ambient and classical music. Heavily inspired by Susumu Yokota and also Aphex Twin, Alias Conrad Coldwood, Kikiyama, and many others to a smaller degree.

The tracks were made using synths like Arturia Pigments, soundfonts (mostly squidfont_orchestral) and a guitar.

DAWs used: FL Studio and Renoise

Made by Aviao and Hertin

Thanks for listening to this project. Please let us know what you think!

Theme

Songs of a Forgotten World

How does it fit the theme?
We tried to portray through music ancient places that are now completely empty, with only small traces of their history left behind. That was also what gave the idea for the game's concept.

Really relaxing music! The last two tracks are my favorites for sure, I love how "Where I Came From" builds up over the time and everything fits together so nicely:)

Where I came from took a bit to get going, but once that flute came in, I was a much bigger fan of it. I also liked A damp place because it had instruments that felt like mallets in nature and mallets are the most perfect instrument ever made.

Mallets really are perfect... And as someone who's currently going a bit crazy over Steve Reich, it was only natural I'd try to fit some of those wherever I could :P

Love the cover art and the theming here! All the track names are really evocative.

The beat that kicks in partway through Pomegranates & Cauliflowers is super interesting, it's a really energetic beat that's not entirely in line with the rhythm of the chords, so that gives it a little bit of a disorienting feeling.  Really cool! The word pomegranates in the title here instantly makes me think of Hades/Persephone haha which adds to the vibe of the piece for me.
I agree with another commenter that the bendy guitar parts in Old Garden sound amazing. Also the part around 0:58 when it transitions into a slower underwater/spacey-sound is super neat. I think my favorite track here has to be either Old Garden or Where I Came From.

Everything here is really creative and sounds full of wonder! I could see these tracks fitting in well with the game concept you described.

Thank you! It's kind of rare for me to use my guitar on music so I'm really happy everyone seems to be liking it!

Pomegranates & Cauliflowers brings this relaxed and grounded feeling with repeating chords (just major 5ths I think?) Simple and repetitive but well, it works.

Wesh Space is short but rhythmic, I think it plays while travelling between different areas? Again very simple but sounds satisfying.

Old Garden is just an ear candy holy crap. I really like the circling synth in the background, really brings it an otherworldly feeling while the melody feels full of wonder (I say it too much in other submissions too but idk how else to describe it😭)

Where I Came From opens with a single note being played, bringing it a feeling of idk how to describe it, readiness? And holy crap the reveal of the rhythm as the quick tapping slowly fades in is so good!!!!!!!! The flute brings it an ethnic feeling if you know what I mean. And percussion is ON SPOT. Feels like you're discovering something wonderful.

A Damp Place feels ethereal because of this reversed instrument playing and the ringing pads. And ofc the plucks constantly applying subtle rhythm are just a cherry on top.

Overall a bit boring because it's entirely ambient, but even considering this very well done. Reminds me of Scrap Mechanic OST a bit and I can really see it in some exploration game, amazing job :3

Tho there's absolutely no story to tell, so can't give you anything in storytelling, but this kind of game doesn't really need a story, does it?

Thank you for your kind words!

Amazing! It was one of my favorite soundtracks to listen to so far, and it brought me a very satisfying feeling of comfort and nostalgia. The instrumentation is perfect, and it's a very imaginable soundtrack for a game.

Thank you!!! Really happy you guys are liking it!

Can I ask you a question? Are you by any chance Brazilian?

I am!

I LOVE the yume nikki and OFF-ish vibes of this!!! The only complaint I'd have is that some tracks kinda feel like they're repeating? but I don't blame you for that too much because it fits. much love!!!

I'm still a bit conflicted about the length of my tracks tbh... But like you said, I also think in the end it did work well within the context of the soundtrack. Thanks for commenting!!! I'm so happy to have gotten the OFF vibes through! That game has one of my favorite soundtracks ever for sure.

I really like this, I can almost picture the gameplay already, each track has a great atmosphere! My favourite track is definitely Old Garden, the bendy guitar part sounds brilliant and I love the quieter sections with the flanged synth.

Thank you so much!!! Really happy to hear you like it!
