How does your game meet GBJam's theme
The game fits the “Old Gold” theme through its story and gameplay. The protagonist searches the beach for treasures left behind by an old shipwreck, digging up coins, rings, and other valuable relics.

The sprites are nice and the palette gives off that sunset vibe which I like a lot! As for the gameplay, it's hard to get into since the progression is quite slow and the guards seem to catch up to you really quick. I think it could be interesting if you added something like a metal detector, so you can first figure out where the treasure is and then plan out a route to distract the guards and then go dig it up instead of just randomly digging and hoping you find something.
A lovely little game! I do wish the early progression could be a little quicker, or some more upgrades to look forward to. But great concept, good job!
I'm glad you liked it! And yeah, I also think the progression at the beginning is a little slow. This was actually something I noticed too, because the random chance of finding or not finding items means that sometimes the early progression can be really quick, while other times it can be a bit slower. So yeah, I think that part could definitely use some review. But thanks for playing and for the feedback!
I really liked the game’s concept! The music is really nice and catchy. I did miss having some sound effects and a HUD that shows how much money I currently have, but other than that, it was a really fun game!

Was fun to play. little annoyed by the beach guards because I can't interrupt my own digging and flee when I want to.
Hi!! Thanks for playing, I'm happy you had fun! In the main idea, you should be able to interrupt the digging by pressing K again. If that's not working, there must have been a bug in the latest version I uploaded. Sorry about that, I'll check it out!

Definitely captured the Gameboy soul! Had fun playing this. I got the golden shovel and one backpack upgrade. Fun gameplay and good music! Nice work!

Hi! You need to press L to interact with the dialogue box and progress through the cutscene. The game controls are: A, W, S, D — movement K — dig L — interact with dialogue and the store

This was a cute little game, those pesky beach security wouldn't leave me alone to my digging!
